Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix -
Chapter 1223 - 1223: Once upon a time
As Rain made the decision to empower Sealyn through the connection of the seals, an overwhelming sense of vulnerability struck him. The moment he relinquished his powers, he transformed back into an ordinary human. However, the consequences of this choice became immediately clear.
With only minimal amounts of mana left in his body, the peculiar atmosphere of the unfamiliar world took a toll on Rain at an alarming rate. His nose, eyes, and ears began to bleed, and the corrosive effects of the environment caused his skin to melt.
The rapid deterioration of his physical form became a painful testament to the dangers of navigating this alien realm without the protective shield of his supernatural abilities. In the face of such adversity, Rain struggled to maintain composure, driven by the urgency of reaching Sealyn and ensuring her safety.
"Captain!"
Those few moments felt like an eternity… Rain felt like he was drowning in a river of acid while his legs were tied up to concrete… eventually when it felt like an eternity, Sealyn eventually was teleported there with her team, and aside from a few scratches, they looked fine.
"Ugh… when my moms aren't around, you truly do some stupid things, don't you?" Sealyn approached in a hurry and helped Rain tend his wounds. "This place isn't made for weak people, so don't do the insane thing of using the power of the seals like that again."
"I won't… probably," Rain said. "The future is uncertain, after all."
Although Rain said that, he felt like crap for quite a while… that made him feel like being reasonable for a change and not doing something that insane ever again. That being said, trading that kind of wound for the safety of his daughter was an easy choice.
"... We didn't expect to arrive in the middle of a battlefield with weird monsters and unknown creatures… what is going on, Dad?" Sealyn asked.
"It is a long story… once upon a time," Rain said.
"Please, don't force me to punch you," Sealyn said.
"It seems that you didn't inherit my sense of humor," Rain shrugged.
Rain proceeded to explain everything he had learned to Sealyn. As expected, her expression shifted from confusion to disbelief, especially when he got into the concept of time dilation. After a while, though, Sealyn managed to wrap her head around the information.
However, the disappointment crept in when she realized that the other groups weren't arriving as planned. The delay significantly slowed down their plans to conquer the zone and find the exit. The uncertainty of the situation weighed heavily on Rain and Sealyn as they contemplated their next steps in this unpredictable and dangerous zone.
"It seems that we owe you quite a bit… Arel, is it?" Sealyn asked. "On behalf of our group, I thank you for your help."
"Oh? It has been a while since I saw anyone related to each other in a natural way," Arel asked. "You are more polite than your father, that must be something you inherited from your mother, but the scowl on your face definitely came from him."
"Natural way?" Sealyn asked and then looked at Rain.
"I don't want to think about that either. Just know that the people in this zone aren't right in their heads," Rain said.
"There are some exceptions, of course," Arel said.
Says the lady that froze her own body in ice that didn't melt and now was moving around like a ghost… now that Rain thought about it, he wondered how she could use magic without a proper body. Maybe it was because she could return to her body as soon as possible.
"... Did something happen after I left?" Rain asked.
"Only half an hour passed there before I went to challenge the king in the shadows… he seemed weird, though," Sealyn said. "What did you do to him?"
"I wanted to learn his power, so I took a part of him with his blood," Rain said while showing the core of his left forearm guard. "How was he weird?"
"While he wasn't unhurt, he looked nervous, almost like he was about to lose his mind," Sealyn said.
"Although you only took a portion of his blood and didn't damage his brain, it seems that your attack wounded his spirit," Nigel said. "The fight was incredibly easy, thanks to that."
Blood is essential for human survival, playing a crucial role in maintaining the body's overall health and functionality. One of the primary functions of blood is to transport oxygen from the lungs to various tissues and organs throughout the body. Hemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells, binds with oxygen in the lungs and releases it in tissues, ensuring proper cellular function.
Now that Rain thought about it… when he went to face the king in the shadows in the second time, he didn't find any signs of his blood on the ground, so maybe instead of being completely restored, his body was repaired by making him recover the tissue and the blood lost. Since Rain took some of his blood, he was missing that part…
Rapid and substantial blood loss can lead to hypovolemic shock, a condition where there is not enough blood to meet the body's needs. This can result in a decrease in blood pressure, reduced oxygen delivery to organs and tissues, and impaired cellular function. Symptoms may include rapid heart rate, weak pulse, cool and clammy skin, confusion, and loss of consciousness.
That would explain his condition.
"Well, he deserved that much, so let's change the topic," Rain said.
"We need to prepare our plans and change them according to the situation, but since we can't communicate with the others, we can't ask their opinion," Sealyn said. "Those who had the skills to transform mana into food will only come after several hours for them… here will take weeks."
"Rest easy, for I can make the juice of all the necessary nutrients that we need," Rain said. "It tastes like nothing, and it makes you feel like throwing up, though."
