Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix -
Chapter 1207 - 1207: Tracking
Rain added some skills to the humility path thanks to Sakaki's help… he was someone who spent a very long time watching things from the sidelines, so he knew a few things about patience.
"For starters, skills up to the level twenty should be enough for those paths," Sakaki said. "I know that you want to counter those effects on your mind, but it is better to have a foundation for everything first."
Sakaki had a point… not only would be easier to level up those paths first and decrease the overall effects of those dark thoughts, but it also would increase the group's strength against the king in the shadows.
With that in mind, they went for a very long task of starting and finishing twenty percent of all of the virtue paths… it was so much easier to join the dark side… it took another full day for the patience path to reach level twenty.
Level 10: Tactical Serenity - Develop a serene mindset that enhances your strategic thinking. Gain a two percent bonus per level to all parameters when formulating and executing clear plans during battles.
Level 15: Tranquil Focus - Cultivate an unwavering focus, reducing the likelihood of being affected by distractions or disruptions during combat. Gain a three percent bonus per level to all resistances against status-altering effects.
Level 20: Prolonged Resilience - Extend your resilience to endure prolonged fights. Reduces the rate of health, mana, and stamina use during combat by two percent per level.
"Since most people here are hot-headed, this kind of path won't be very popular," Rain said. "I can't say much when I know that I am practically doomer when it comes to the chastity path."
"It is easier. You just have to stop doing it and hold back your urges," Sakaki said.
"Can you two talk about that when I am not here?" Elisabetha asked.
Sakaki's point made sense for Rain, triggering some thoughts on his own experiences. In the pursuit of mastering the dragons' techniques, Rain had subjected himself to intense trials, pushing the boundaries of his most basic desires. As he delved into the intricacies of these primal instincts, he discovered the power that lay within such challenges.
For instance, when testing the limits of his hunger, Rain found himself growing hungrier by the day, losing kilograms within a mere week. This extreme exploration not only unveiled the potential for self-discipline but also showed the strength that could be harnessed by confronting and overcoming one's own cravings.
Similarly, Rain had explored into the concept of greed, imposing strict rules upon himself to understand the extent of this desire. By forcing adherence to these self-imposed limitations, Rain learned to channel the power of greed in a controlled and purposeful manner, unlocking new capabilities within himself.
Drawing parallels, Sakaki's suggestion to establish a foundation for the virtue paths echoed the lessons Rain had learned through these trials. The idea of addressing and mastering the fundamental aspects of one's nature before confronting the darker thoughts aligned with Rain's own journey of self-discovery and growth.
"I guess I will have to cover my eyes. It is the only way," Rain said while grabbing a piece of cloth. "I am not bragging, but my two wives are hot milfs after all."
"How is that not bragging?" Sakaki asked.
Sakaki and Elisabetha thought that Rain was joking about covering his eyes, but he actually stayed like that from that day onward without telling until when he would take those out. For men, the eyes are the entrance of their lust, so it made sense… but one could wonder until how long he would try to hold back. Chastity probably wasn't for him…
Aside from the chastity path, Rain began to work on the charity path, temperance, and gratitude… he could tell that those wouldn't be very popular paths. Still, obtaining those would be extremely necessary if the enemies keep pulling cards with the shadow magic.
In the end, Rain takes a break on challenges the king to focus on that and in other aspects. On the other hand, people like Sealyn, Seadrie, Terra, and Seara began to challenge the king on solo challenges. The result was expected. They returned after winning up to the fourth level with close to no wounds whatsoever.
"Now that this problem is relatively solved, it is time to focus on that other matter…" Rain thought while furrowing his eyebrows.
While stalking his son had been his last option, Rain was forced to do that out of worry since no one knew what was going on with his life… he seemed to be doing fine as usual, but he still looked lost in thought now and then. Annie and him were basically inseparable, but not even she knew what was bothering him.
"I kind of knew that I would become a meddlesome old man," Rain thought. "I just expected that I would have some grey hair when that time would have come."
During the day, everyone was busy working on getting stronger or getting more points, so Rain doubted that Danny would be doing something suspicious during the day… So, he decided to check on him at night… it didn't take long for him to feel guilty, thanks to that… going as far as using the water mirror technique.
"What am I doing with my life?" Rain asked and then sighed.
Rain didn't last even five minutes on the mission… but as soon as he was about to give up, he lost sight of Danny's presence when he entered his tent. Rain had taught him and a bunch of people the water mirror technique, but to disappear from his radar, one would need to know how to use his domain properly as well. It seemed that Danny was hiding his true skills…
Still, Danny was too green to escape from Rain's tracking skills. Even without seeing or hearing him, he still had to walk and step on the ground. Thanks to his skills with earth magic, it didn't take long for Rain to find someone tiptoeing around while invisible…
