Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix -
Chapter 1205 - 1205: Too late
The attack should have caused way more damage to Rain's body, but coming in contact with that much corrupt energy made the Wrath's path be activated alongside Elisabetha's anger… in the end, her rage absorbed the Wrath of the attack, and the other sins were the cause of his wounds. That was why Rain was filled with thoughts and images that he didn't want to even describe…
Level 5: Carnage Onslaught - Channel your overwhelming rage to intensify attack damage by 10% per level for five seconds. You recover one percent of the damage caused during this window of time. Cost: 500 stamina
Level 10: Malevolent Rage - Infuse your strikes with malevolence, causing enemies to suffer a 10-point decrease per level in their vitality for ten seconds. Cost: 500 stamina
Level 15: Carnage Aura - Exude an aura of relentless fury, drawing enemies closer while diminishing their resistance to your attacks. Increases the attraction range of foes and reduces their defense by 20%.
"The increase in your health helped you a lot, but if you take more of those attacks, you will probably unlock the other sins path," Elisabetha said. "When they are used like this, it seems that they will hurt you, but they will also make you more resistant to their physical damage… they will affect your psych, though."
"I would rather not keep those kinds of thoughts in my mind or revisit them often…" Rain said while breathing roughly.
Rain wondered why that was happening… Ignoring and using the sin's power like that should be something that not even dragons should be able to pull that off. His constitution was the same as the others, so there was no difference about him… the only different thing that he had if compared to the others was his soul… a soul that came from before the reset of the world.
That would explain why the relics could use the dragons' power that well and absorb the power of the dragons as well… even when they weren't on the same type of them when it comes to corrupt power.
"Fuck you…" Rain thought when a certain disturbing image came to his head.
Rain's rage increased when he saw himself choking Terra and Seara… that was just an illusion of the sins affecting his mind, but he refused to have that kind of thought, even if it was an illusion.
Amidst his internal struggle, the king realized that Rain was suffering for obvious reasons… it didn't take long for the king to realize what Rain was enduring… he had endured the same thing to control his powers. While he trained his willpower, there was a limit that anyone would have at the beginning… and passing beyond that limit would make anyone go insane.
The king finally had his chance for his revenge. The chance of Rain losing his mind and killing the others was what he needed and wanted… even if they couldn't truly die there, such an incident would destroy the group internally.
Sealyn, Danny, and Seadrei put themselves between Rain, Asche, and the enemy… they realized that the king was looking at Rain too much and he certainly wasn't planning something good. That was soon confirmed when the king suddenly jumped from that massive body and landed on his throne… the mass of darkness suddenly turned into a spear that began to spin violently while being aimed at all of them.
Blocking that will be difficult…
"We need to retreat. We already gained enough information about the team battles and forced the enemy to show his best," Danny said.
"Too late," Seadrei said.
In an instant, the dark spear was shot, flying toward Rain and the group. Its movement was almost imperceptible, a lethal trajectory aimed directly at Rain's heart. As it neared its target, Rain instinctively seized the ominous sword at his side, wielding it as the only line of defense against the danger.
The clash was intense and brutal, the dark spear slamming against the ominous sword with a force that seemed beyond comprehension. A deafening collision echoed through the chamber, resonating with the destruction of the pillars in its wake. Rain fought to maintain his ground, the sheer power of the impact sending him hurtling backward.
The pillars shattered and fell apart as Rain was forcefully propelled across the chamber, leaving a trail of fractured remnants in his wake. The ominous sword was unscathed by the attack. However, Rain's body showed the brunt of the assault.
The impact on the chamber wall finally halted Rain's trajectory, his body crumpling against the hard surface. Bones cracked under immense pressure, and the air was filled with the sickening sound of his physical form resisting the crushing force akin to a giant hammer.
At the same time, Sealyn and Seadrei punched the face of the king in the shadows and made him fly beyond the throne… he was completely defenseless without mana as well and had his body almost crushed against the other side of the chamber.
As if they were copying each other, the king and Rain got up at the same time… both of them had no mana, and while Rain achieved his goal, he wanted to break all the bones of that guy… he couldn't do it now.
"... We give up," Rain said.
Before long, everyone was teleported back to the front of the castle, and Rain immediately began to heal himself… he was lucky that no one was around… no one expected that the team fight would last less than fifteen minutes, after all. He also used that time to get rid of those dark thoughts.
"Just wishing for them to go away won't do it," Elisabetha said. "Keep your mind busy with things that you want to do, and you want to do it. That way, you won't let those dark thoughts wander around in your head."
"Make sense," Rain said and then sighed.
In the end, Rain had a hard time doing that as well since he wanted to kill that bastard…
