Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1198 - 1198: Power shot

As Rain continued to engage in numerous battles against the king in the shadows, a noticeable transformation occurred in the demeanor of his adversary over time. The relentless onslaught of defeats had left the once imposing king looking like a mere shadow of his former self.

The initial air of arrogance and annoyance that accompanied Rain's appearance gradually dissipated, replaced by a resigned acceptance of his fate.

It reached a point where the king couldn't summon the energy to be irritated anymore when Rain made his regular appearances. The irony of the situation was almost comical – what used to be a fierce and menacing adversary had been reduced to a defeated figure, lacking the will or capacity to even try.

Rain's frequent visits became a source of amusement for himself, as he seemingly treated the king as little more than an ATM sitting on a throne.

The worst thing was the fact that he wanted to send Rain to the next zone to have some peace, but Rain always would give up and then return to outside once he realized that the king was planning to do that to get rid of him. That was anything, if not funny.

"All right, I guess it is time for some people to come with me," Rain said. "He is planning to send me to the next zone, but I don't think that he will try if others are with me. The battle of teams should have rules as well, and he will probably have more cards at his disposal."

"It makes sense… I will go with you. As for the others, that should go as well…" Sealyn said while looking at everyone.

For the first time in a long while, Sealyn's confident demeanor seemed uncertain. Within their group, only a handful of individuals truly stood out as potential leaders. The list of candidates was impressive, including Seadrei, Terra, Seara, Asche, Liss, Jori, Reca, and even Rain's sisters.

However, the task at hand required not only choosing leaders for their primary group but also selecting individuals to lead other teams.

As Sealyn thought over this situation, the weight of responsibility and foresight pressed upon her. The obvious choices were clear: individuals with skills, experience, and leadership qualities that could guide their groups effectively. Yet, the challenge extended beyond the immediate team, as they needed to ensure capable leaders for the other groups that would inevitably form.

The gravity of the situation forced Sealyn to think several steps ahead. It was not just about assembling a formidable team to confront the challenges within their current zone but also establishing a structure that could adapt and thrive as they moved forward.

"Don't worry about that," Rain said. "The people that we will choose now will choose the others that will lead the groups. The weight of the choices will be on someone else's hands after this, not yours."

"... And that is what worries me," Sealyn said and then rubbed her eyes. "Regardless, there is no point in thinking over this. We will need a balanced team, so Asche, Jori, and… Danny."

That was an interesting choice… Rain could fight anywhere, and so could Sealyn. Seadrei was much more of a melee fighter, and Asche was a long-ranged one. Danny was also pretty similar to Rain, but he didn't have a relic with him.

"It is good that we have time to get stronger, but being here annoys me so much…" Sealyn said while she grabbed her spear.

"Tell me about it," Rain said.

"We will head to the castle in three hours; rest and prepare accordingly until then," Sealyn said.

As Sealyn finished the team composition, Rain's focus shifted momentarily to his ongoing tasks. At the moment, he wasn't in an absolute rush, but he knew that within a week, he would have successfully copied all the weapons he lacked from the others. This acquisition marked a crucial point in his preparations, one that would significantly alter the dynamics of their situation.

Once Rain possessed every weapon at his disposal, he could see the complications arising, escalating to a point where the anticipation to proceed to the next zone would become almost unbearable. The prospect of such intricate battles, coupled with the growing strength of his arsenal, fueled a restlessness within him.

However, the critical question loomed: would he be truly ready for the challenges awaiting them in the next zone?

It wasn't just about his own readiness. Rain thought about how many among their group would be adequately equipped, both in terms of strength and strategy, to venture into the unknown. The responsibility weighed on him, and he couldn't help but wonder about the readiness of his comrades.

"Just how many zones this shitty place has?" Rain thought and then sighed. "This is annoying…"

Before long, everyone arrived in front of the castle, everyone except Sealyn. It seemed that she was organizing the situation with her squad. Even though she was the leader of the frontlines, she also had her own group that responded to her.

"I will confirm this with Sealyn once she comes, but I am wondering if we can focus on letting Asche focus on the offense while we cover for her," Rain said. "You can keep increasing the power of your shots the more time you have, right?"

"Yeah, it is a simple but very powerful skill with almost endless potential that I got here," Asche said. "It is Power Shot."

Rain's mind briefly moved to his recent acquisitions. Among the skills he had gained was the formidable Power Shot, and the mere mention of it by Asche brought a knowing understanding to Rain. Having researched into the intricacies of this skill, he comprehended the weight behind her words.

Power Shot was a technique that demanded a sacrifice from its user. To harness its full potential, the individual had to willingly immobilize themselves, not budging even by a single centimeter. In exchange for this stillness, the archer could charge their arrows with immense amounts of both stamina and mana. The result was a devastatingly powerful shot that could wreak havoc on opponents.
