Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix -
Chapter 1167 - 1167: Hard Support
Rain tried that for a while, but he failed a bunch of times… as expected, it couldn't be that simple. Still, Rain had an idea… he equipped the Polymath's path and all the skills that enhanced his wisdom. His domain expanded by fifty percent, and so did his ability to control mana.
Aside from that, and following the instructions of the ghost-like woman, Rain sharpened his senses and then used the power of the seals… before long, he began to feel the presence of Terra and Seara in two different directions. They also began to feel his power and presence.
"Well, now they won't have the chance to complain that I looked for Isa first," Rain thought.
"So, you were planning to do that?" Terra asked.
Wait, is it already working?" Rain asked. "I guess Telepathy works better when both people have a connection, and they know their location as well."
"Telepathy? Where did you have the time to learn that?" Sears asked.
"Long story short, I am just fabulous," Rain said and then smirked. "Anyway, who are with you guys?"
Sealyn is with me," Terra said. "We were preparing to attack the city where we arrived; those bastards were planning to drug us."
"Did they kill anyone else from our allies?" Rain asked.
"No," Terra said.
"What about you, Seara?" Rain asked.
"Annie is with me. They tried to capture us, but they failed," Seara replied.
"I see… this might sound weird, but I want you two to stop attacking them for now," Rain said. "I will confirm the situation with the others soon enough. If everyone is alive, then we will have to work with them for the time being."
"Do you have any reason for that? I suppose you do, but… Terra furrowed her eyebrows.
Rain explained the situation to Terra and Seara, outlining their current goal and the potentially useful abilities possessed by the people in the city. The two of them nodded in agreement when they heard about the advantageous skills the inhabitants had acquired.
Rain also mentioned his rapid acquisition of Telepathy in less than a day, showing that while it might be challenging for others, the potential benefits of cooperation outweighed the risks. Killing the inhabitants could result in losing a vast amount of valuable knowledge that could be crucial for their survival.
Terra and Seara would have exchanged glances if they could, considering Rain's words. Despite their initial hostility towards the inhabitants of the city, the idea of obtaining new abilities and knowledge seemed appealing. For now, a temporary alliance appeared to be the best choice, and they agreed to work together until the immediate threat was dealt with.
In the end, Rain contacted the others as well, and he confirmed that all of the people he cared about were alive. They were tough as nails, so it came as no surprise. Still, the number of people that arrived in the second zone was quite low. It barely reached the five-hundred mark. At the same time, Rain was the only one who didn't have anyone close to him that was with him.
"I stand corrected. I am unlukcy," Rain said.
"It is really convenient that the guys while they had some useful techniques, they were weak," Elisabetha asked.
"It can't be helped. Their best techniques are the only thing that they can use. Everything else has been sealed," Rain said.
In any case, after talking with everyone, Rain had more or less an idea of the map of the zone. It was pretty large, and it had exactly ten cities. They were thirty kilometers away from each other, forming a squared area inclined with two cities in the middle and eight surrounding them… so they would have to deal with forty of those beasts. It was quite the task…
"The sun is setting… the other groups will be able to hold back the beasts, but considering that they will be attacked from four directions, we will have to hurry," Rain said. "Everyone will be able to see their relics once I am close enough, and that will be better to use their powers and defeat the beasts… so, it is a boss rush."
"You won't be able to recover enough energy that easily," Elisabetha said. "So, you will have to pace yourself."
"It is fine. I have an idea," Rain said. "I will kill them all in a single hit."
As the sun disappeared below the horizon, the earth began to tremble under the impending threat. The warriors of the city were already positioned beyond the walls, ready for the impending battle. Rain swiftly arrived to survey the scene and saw the familiar and menacing form of the weird plant, more aggressive than ever.
Alongside it were the other three monsters, each closing in with a distinct appearance.
The first among them was a colossal blue salamander, its scales shimmering in the twilight. Its fiery eyes glowed with an unnatural intensity, and steam hissed from its nostrils as it approached.
The second monster took the form of a gigantic three-headed snake, its scales reflecting an ominous mixture of colors. Each head moved independently, hissing and snapping at the air, ready to strike at any moment.
The third creature was a horned cyclops, towering over the landscape with a single, malevolent eye. Its thick skin and massive horns gave it a fearsome appearance, and its footsteps resonated with the ground as it advanced.
Despite their differences, all these monsters lacked the radiant energy that had almost made their bodies glow if compared to the first dragons. Rain braced himself for the boss's rush ahead, knowing that defeating these colossal beasts would be no easy task.
"Are you ready?" Orzlan asked.
"I need you guys to focus only on defending, keep the monsters at bay for a while," Rain said. "I won't fight for now, but I will offer you all the necessary support."
"... How exactly?" Orzlan asked.
Rain used his magic to create an extra large flute and immediately began to play it…
