Chapter 50: 40 Haven’t eaten yet? Younger sister
"Different from the situation in Infinite Paradise, after the two of them lay down, Le Cheng discovered an invisible ripple covering their bodies. Accompanied by a dizzying sensation, both their vision and consciousness gradually blurred.
When their bodies completely disappeared into the Black Coffin, the ghosts immediately let out a fervent cheer, then they clasped their hands together and silently prayed.
On the other side, Le Cheng opened his eyes again, finding both still in the same position in the Black Coffin, but the scenery before them had changed.
This was a gray-green world, devoid of the sun and the moon, and void of the warmth of life. The air around was filled with the dampness of death and decay. As Le Cheng stepped out of the coffin and when he opened his mouth to breathe, a sharp pain transmitted from his lungs immediately, as if countless bugs were gnawing at his intestines.
Then as he exhaled the turbid air, some tiny particles fell from it, and upon closer inspection, they were dead plague insects.
"How do you feel?" Elizabeth looked at Le Cheng immediately. As a Spiritual Body, she was unaffected by the nest, but Le Cheng was a living person, and she was unclear what reaction a living person would have upon arriving here.
Le Cheng exhaled another breath of cloudy air and said, "Poisonous, lethal."
"Ah?" Elizabeth’s face changed.
Before Elizabeth could react, Le Cheng pointed underneath his feet, "Don’t panic, I was referring to these."
Elizabeth looked down and finally noticed those tiny corpses.
"This is...?"
"My constitution is slightly special; inert toxins are one thing, but if it’s biological toxins, when they try to infect me with a virus, they get infected by my constitution as well. It’s just a matter of which is more toxic... Apparently, I’m currently the stronger one in terms of toxicity."
Le Cheng proudly said.
Elizabeth was shocked, what kind of constitution was this guy having, that he could poison the virus-spreading bugs to death!
"Are you... really a human?"
She had never heard of humans possessing such abilities.
"Of course, genuine and guaranteed." Watching Elizabeth’s shocked expression, Le Cheng proudly puffed out his chest. It wasn’t so much about the constitution as it was about his immune system having its own ideas, killing anything harmful to the body and expelling everything without leaving a trace. Although every once in a while he was tormented to the brink of death and back, as long as he got used to it, everything would improve.
Elizabeth took a deep breath, feeling increasingly puzzled by this guy, or perhaps, did he really have a way with the devil inside her?
Previously, Elizabeth hadn’t had any special thoughts regarding Le Cheng’s invitation, but now, she couldn’t help but start to think seriously about it.
Of course, before that, she needed to clean up the devil’s nest first.
Speaking of the devil’s nest, this place was more like a naturally formed small world, like the hat on a dog’s head, a lush green as far as the eye could see. If it was only up to Le Cheng and Elizabeth’s strength, who knows till what year and month they would be able to cleanse this space.
Luckily, Elizabeth was very familiar with this area, she said, "Those poisonous bugs don’t need us to clean them up, as they basically can’t leave this space and almost pose no threat to the outside souls. In the center of the nest, there’s a special door, the devils come to our world through that door, as long as we can handle that door, we can solve almost all the problems."
"You just mentioned ’world’ right?"
"Hmm... what about it?"
"So, the devil is not a native product of our world, but comes from another world?"
Elizabeth was startled, not expecting Le Cheng to catch onto the key point so quickly, then she nodded, "At least that’s what I believe. Both No.1 and No.2 have tried to smash that door to stop the devils from coming to our world, but they both failed. I have also tried several times, but every time I approach that door, the minions of the devil swarm towards me, and the closest I’ve ever gotten to the door was less than a meter, but then I encountered the brain monster."
"It seems your presence indeed brings significant trouble to the devils."
Le Cheng pondered, if it weren’t for the infinitely respawning Elizabeth, with a large number of devils flooding into this world, Saint Elizabeth would have likely been completely dominated by the power of the devils long ago. It was precisely because of the Elizabeths’ desperate resistance that a tug-of-war mode was formed between the two sides.
Also, in his knowledge, although Nagou’s filial sons generally possess the ability to spread viruses and have nearly undead bodies, propagating through flesh chunks to brainwash the victims clearly isn’t a common development path, so Elizabeth’s idea might indeed be correct... It’s because the actions of the Elizabeths severely hindered the spread of the Nagou faith, thus the creation of the brain monsters, a type of devil with targeted attributes, trying to make the Elizabeths fall.
Then Le Cheng thought again, before he became an official player, Paradise had attempted to have him explore Saint Elizabeth more deeply, apparently, even Paradise seemed to hope someone could stop the invasion of Nagou.
The more he thought, the more Le Cheng realized the waters of Infinite Paradise were unusually deep, a normal player might really not be able to handle it.
With a mindset of "the more the enemy doesn’t want him to do something, the more he wants to do it," Le Cheng immediately asked Elizabeth to take him to the gate.
Elizabeth decisively rolled up Le Cheng’s body with her hair, while she herself flew in midair, speeding towards the distance.
"Over there."
Following the direction of Elizabeth’s finger, Le Cheng saw a black object standing on the distant plain. It was not very clear due to the distance, but as they drew closer, the air started to churn, gathering countless tiny particles in midair into a dense mass.
Simultaneously, the ground also began to roar as tentacles several dozen meters long burst out of the ground.
"Good, let me show you what truth really is!"
Le Cheng immediately pulled out a Gatling from his backpack, and with a burst of blue fire, countless bullets rained down towards the ground.
He even occasionally threw a few grenades.
Although these technological weapons had little effect on the plague of poisonous insects, they were still very effective against the Tentacle Cultivators below.
Elizabeth wasn’t idle either; countless strands of her hair drilled out from the black hole, slicing through all the enemies like blades.
With the tacit cooperation between the two, the minions of the Devil didn’t pose much of an obstacle, and soon, Le Cheng got a clear view of what the so-called gate really was.
Yes, it was that coffin lid he so liked!
"I’m going to destroy it!"
Elizabeth’s face was stern, with a tone of irrefutable decisiveness.
Although the two relied on their speed and coordination to break through the encirclement of minions, their numbers were simply too great. As the two continued to approach the gate, they rushed over frantically, and being completely surrounded by them would be unimaginable.
Elizabeth knew well that this might be her only chance in life.
Le Cheng gave her a glance and did not object because there are some things you just don’t know how desperate they are until you try.
"Okay, I’ll provide support."
Le Cheng took on the task of cover, and seizing the opportunity, Elizabeth quickly rushed towards the gate. She gathered all her strength in her legs, diving down from the sky; her legs transformed into a giant sword, which began to spin rapidly with her body’s rotation, like an ultra-high-power drill. The poisonous insects approaching her were even evaporated by the intense heat before they could get close.
This was currently the strongest strike Elizabeth could deliver, embodying not just her own strength, but also the souls of No.1 and No.2.
"Shatter!"
Boom!!
The moment the giant sword made contact with the gate, the violent impact even shattered the poisonous insects flying from all directions. However, Elizabeth desperately discovered that the black gate remained immovable, not even a crack had formed.
"How... is that possible?"
Elizabeth could hardly believe her own eyes.
Squeak, squeak, squeak...
Faintly, she seemed to hear a sneering laugh coming from the other side of the gate.
It was as if mocking her.
Haven’t you eaten? Little sister.
"..."
Elizabeth completely broke down.
