Chapter 214: End Of Day 2

Chapter 214: End Of Day 2

The battle was over!

And much to the spartan warriors surprise, it ended in their overwhelming victory.

These men had been dispirited as of late after a series of defeats one after the other forcing them back deeper and deeper into their own territory but now the main enemy army was not only defeated but they had been captured as well!

The reinforcements from Romanus were amazing.

Their General had been undefeated after numerous champion battles, and then today his forces held out with only a meager force until the ambushing forces were in place to surround and slaughter the enemy.

But most amazingly was the General himself, he had become a beacon of hope and strength the man had single handedly slaughtered thousands with his mana art powers, nothing could stop him as he unleashed powers that his own men claimed had been gifted unto him by the very gods themselves.

While the Spartans typically only ever prayed to the god of way, none were ready to dispute their rescuers claims that their own leader was blessed by the gods, for he surely was, and might even have been summoned to this place by the god of war to lead the faithful towards victory.

The captured greecians were hastily enslaved before being sent off to the rear.

The spartan high command was jubilous but also troubled.

Never before had so many been captured and their current force would not be able to continue supporting such a large amount of slaves.

Per the agreement half the army was Romanus slaves, and Julius was equally as troubled, his 11,000 men now had approximately 40,000 greecian slaves to deal with.

If he had territory he could create a city in an instant along with fields to begin attempting to support them but as it stands right now short of foraging and hunting the food they’d brought with them wont even last for another 3 days if he has to feed all these people.

And so a decision had to be made.

They could slash their own rations to extend the food source however they’d need to press their attack invading into Greecian territory hard pressed to aquire food.

Or, and the more likely scenario rest up for a little while longer before sortieing out to sieze the Greecian camp and any supplies that remain within.

While the generals had run away, the camp itself could not have to many guards and with that only so much could be brought with them.

"King Leonidas" <Julius>

Having arrived and entered the command tent the opinion of the men within was far better than the first time he’d come.

"With our victory here today we are faced with a problem, one that as tired as our men might be we must solve, the men captured will need food, which we can obtain from their own camp, lest we begin to execute the captives to lessen the burden." <Julius>

The king before him began stroking his beard, the situation was dire indeed but for Leonidas it was not as bad as Julius was making it out to be, Slaves were slaves they did not need to be treated or fed like freemen, and the king would not starve his own men to feed those who’d been killing them.

While raiding the Greecian camp would allow for loot food was not a high priority for the king, the rescue of the men who’d been captured was his greatest priority.

"You want food you can take it, but the treasure, weapons and slaves within the camp are ours." <King Leonidas>

"I can agree to the slaves, but we split the treasure and weapons well those we want claim to at least." <Julius>

"Heh Heh ha ha ha fine that should be enough, im sure we can sacrifice a few weapons if it means the return of our people, and the repayment for their rape of our lands." <King Leonidas>

Having reached an agreement, Julius left the Kings tent.

Making his way back to the Romanus fort a short distance away.

Julius entered what could now be described as a slave city.

As most of his men were still resting from their hard won battle the captured greecian slaves were being put to use expanding the fort to accomodate their far larger than expected numbers.

The military encampment became a bit crowded to say the least where tents meant to house 4 men were now housing 10 with little space between them as they lay.

Some of the men were disgruntled having to give up their own tents to provide a shelter for the war slaves, but since this was their Kings order they did not complain aside from a few remarks.

Julius strolled through seeing that the Greecians though also exhausted were being put to work, however not till they died from their exhaustion, breaks, food and water were being offered to them, and even the Romanus soldiers were working alongside them without much worry in their eyes.

This behaviour was strange to the greecians as slaves were treated as sub-human but here these Romanus treated them almost like they did themselves.

Having reached his own command tent Julius entered, while the guards following him did not instead taking up their post at the entrance.

After entering Julius was drawn to the figure of Yuri who’d taken off her armour in the safety of the camp, currently pouring over the region maps provided by the Spartans, and even a few Julius had slipped in having been penned by his own hand after using the [World Map] as a reference.

"Good to see you survived" <Julius>

"I could say the same about you! Facing a horde of enemies that large with only your personal guard force at your back!" <Yuri>

She tore into him tears in her eyes as she lambasted his reckless choice.

Clearly the time spent laying in the forest forced to watch the battles from afar was utter torture to this young lady.

"That being said just what were you doing at then end?" <Yuri>

"Oh... Well i suppose it’s alright to tell since it is you afterall" <Julius>
