Chapter 210: Start Of Day 2

Julius awoke the following morning, well rested the rigors of the previous day had barely taken their toll on him.

Even the strongest of his opponents the other day was just barely a 90 which for someone such as himself who could become a triple digit power level at a moments notice was merely childs play.

He also got to test out his latest combat skill it was Vesta’s Flame, Vesta being the evolution of Goddess Hestia from the Greek’s own faith, this flame was a sacred flame one guarding the home hearth and providing warmth to it’s inhabitants however with his new skills Vesta’s flame could be used in mulitple ways beyond just providing warmth.

By converting the flames into something tangible Julius had created a flame whip one which seared the very soul unleashing the goddess’s wrath against those who’d trample on family life, and the sanctity of peace.

Damianos was fortunate he had already passed out thanks to [Crush] lest he be dragged away by Julius unleashing blood curdling screams as if he was a little girl getting a shot for the first time.

This kindness was not without cost however for when he awoke, out of all the men who’d lost Damianos was the most confused for he still knew not how he lost only that upon sighting Julius he could not help but tremble uncontrollably never ever wanting to draw that man wrath down upon him.

The praetorians were undefeated in the champion fights the other day, and with their moral now soaring ever higher, Julius called the men to arms leaving only a squad of 50 men to maintain the fort in their absence.

As the others set off once more appearing as hoplites just dressed oddly and with much larger shields the Romanus men rejoined the spartans as both army’s once more took to the field of battle against The Allied Greecian force.

The Spartan side was outnumbered as Leonidas only had 60,000 as the remaining sum of his army while Julius presently only had 1,000 as his own core troops.

On the field against them was over 100,000 Greecians, Julius was still relegated to the left most flank, however the Greecians had also made changes to their own formation, knowing that the left was not as weak as they once thought upon seeing the palty number of men.

However after the horns had blown there was one thing noticed by the Greecians that cause all the men to tilt their heads at once.

As the thousands of men marched forward in a phalanx formation, opposite them the Spartan likewise however very differently marched as well in a phalanx formation.

Following Julius’s tactical advise from the previous night, Leonidas had staggered his phalanx lines so that each corp of his troops would clash with the enemy at different time, this would present possibly weakness’s to their own formation however knowing that it was goign to happen allowed them to already be preparred for it, meanwhile the opposite formation would be heavily at risk locked into combat while being attacked from two sides.

Julius and his men as the left most and "weakest" position would be the last to come into contact with the enemy and this was just fine for them as unlike the Greecians, Julius had Bows in his arsenal so while the army had begun to march, the 1,000 Praetorians were unleashing volley after volley of arrows upon the approaching phalanx’s.

Never targeting the same one twice in a row, as the men would need to raise their shields up high to defend effectively tiring them out, putting them on edge, and reaping a number of lives before they could properly react.

As the volleys continued the strong Spartan Right and already begun their clash against the Greecians own Left.

Failing to stop the advance the Greencian lines broke and continued marching till they met up with the second column, at which point the created shield was burst open and the greecians found themselve attack from two side by phalanx as the spears were pressed forward and reaping many lives in the process.

The chaos continued to unleash itself as these event continued to repeat each time another section of the greecian phalanx had to break away to proceed further forward to meet their opponent.

By the time that the final section of their phalanx line had met up with Julius and his legionaires, the left most sections had already begun to waver under the onslaught and tremendous loss of life they were sustaining.

From his relatively safe position within the formation Julius was watching the battlefield events in real time with his [World Map] zoomed in on the battlefield itself.

The Praetorians operated similarly by using the standard phalanx however unlike the others they would cycle back similar to their own legion training to have fresh fighters on the frontline, this allowed the enemy to advance slightly however it also gave the Romanus men the ability to stretch their lines by a man or two to the side each time.

Now the phalanx centereed against them was being attacked from three sides.

The battle was then in full swing as spears continued to pierces flesh, swords drawn to replace broken spears, and finally after the lull of constand battle had set in Julius set about his end game plan.

From their position far from the battlefield the Greecian generals mounted atop horses were watching with relative glee knowing this would likly be the spartans final fight before they could be dealt with easily.

Even with new tactics and meager reinforcements it mattered little in the face of insurmountable numbers.

However it was then that the generals notice something odd was happening.

The rear of their lines began to collapse, the men were not running from the battle but quite literally collapsing to the ground.
