Chapter 194: Powder Keg
As Julius was wrapping up his conquest of Roserun with only a single battle having to be waged, through his system he could perceive the other nations of the world beginning to make their move through his [World Map] Utility skill.
Ramie having been significantly weakened thanks to his piracy policy was come under assault by their former allies the Christian Principality, and their northern bordered nation the Parthian Plutocracy, with their coasts ravaged, and forces needed to maintain order in the recently conquered Carthaginian Kingdom the battle was not going in their favor as the borders of the world changed daily.
In the west the fires of war were beginning as the Peloponnese was heating up, incited by the largest democratic nation the Greecian kingdoms had begun making moves, as Sparta had come under attack, the first few days the enemy advanced claiming territory however not long after the counter attack came, and a day later all the lines were back where they started, a few more days passed and this time it was Sparta who was on the warpath, carving deeply into their neighbors lands.
The north likewise was alighted with war, as numerous fronts were opening up, some smaller nations sought to expand their borders by capturing portions of Visigoth’s territory while it’s armies were busy down dealing with the South.
And a similar story was also happening in the east as the peacetime alliances had begun the initiation of their various plans.
The spark that started with the first invasion of Aquitania, had been restruck time and again until now when the flames of war kindled by Visigoth had finally taken root and plunged the world at large into chaos and darkness.
It was at this moment that the true game was finally beginning, over was the tutorial now begins the challenge of maintaining a nation, relationships with neighbors all while continuing the relentless march to further conquer to continent and possibly even reclaim the lost territories of Aquitania by reintegrating them into his nation.
From his lords mansion within Rosa Alba enjoying a simple glass of Red Wine in toasted celebration of his victory over Roserun and their essential vassalization under his nation as a mere puppet state.
Watching as the map displayed before him like a hologram was changing hourly even.
Deciding on what to do first.
His nation was newly established but the people were quickly coming together as a true single people rather than as individuals separated by their cultures.
His reforms were making history as the centralization of power was happening at rapid pace while his military was rapidly growing as free hands were able to volunteer to join up with the legions rather than need to be conscripted.
The Carthaginian navy was still active in the south seas harassing Ramie trade while teaching his own people how to become sailors, as the first of their own ships began to find their way off the slipway and into the oceans waters.
Julius was left with a choice, he could join Parthia who was indifferent in his declaration of a Grand Duchy bordering their own Great Nation being founded in carving up the Ramie Kingdom, and the former Carthaginian lands for themselves most likely causing tensions to rise and possible outbreak of war between their two peoples.
Or he could leave the southlands to their fate... for now, turning his attentions instead to the east.
With the alliances with Germania and Dacia in place and unlikely at this time to break.
The Greecian Archipelago was fertile ground for further expansion.
These nation states were just like they were back on Earth, each with a single great city possessing it’s state name and numerous smaller agrarian villages scattered throughout the interior.
Athens with it’s navy and alliances to the neighboring stately cities were composed to fight against the militarily superior Spartan’s who were unrivaled in land combat, with a pretty powerful navy of their own.
The Spartans were presently winning in their counter invasion following the outbreak of war, however this will not last.
While superior on land any army needs to eat, and with Athens blocking the coasts the only method of getting food would be to create a land based supply chain but the Spartans are not necessarily known for their high Intelligence levels, muscle brains in other words.
They would sack any cities they conquered to gain new food, and enslave the peoples living there but eventually they food would run out, or they would become bogged down and be forced into a desperate retreat or face annihilation.
With their advance they also would be getting closer and closer to the allied armies of the Greecian nation states that are prepared waiting for Sparta to split it’s grand army up to finalize the invasion and in doing so greatly diminish their own fighting power, only to now be required to face independent Greecian armies each now with a smaller force of their own.
Few players were able pick Sparta and survive the onset of war, and even those who did would need many turns to rebuild before Sparta was ready to go on the warpath once again all the while the nations of the world were rapidly building up.
A powerful vassal the Spartans could become, and their power levels were a thing Julius greatly desired.
But...
Negotiating with the Spartans... what a fucking ordeal that will be.
