Chapter 53: Birth of Mystic Mechanics.
Back in the room, the two elders looked at Mo Jian as if they were looking at a monster.
"Elders, is there something on my face?" Mo Jian wore a light grin.
He could understand the two elders, but his skin was too thick to feel any shame for his shameless actions.
Elder Bai Delan opened his mouth, but the words failed to come out. He sighed and shook his head.
This was the first time he had seen a hot-blooded youth who was not swayed by people’s thoughts and provocations.
Opposite him, Elder Luo Zhen was equally shocked.
Mo Jian’s unorthodox way of handling the situation left them speechless.
Perhaps many would think he was a coward, but they knew better.
With his current realm, why would he fear those below him? Yet, he chose to win them over through words.
In the cultivation world, strength reigns supreme. Yet, he was not using the so-called strength to overwhelm his enemies.
"You’re strange and interesting," Elder Luo Zhen said with a bittersweet smile.
"Hahaha! I’ll take that as a compliment," Mo Jian laughed.
"But what I don’t understand is why you didn’t accept their challenge?" Elder Bai Delan asked curiously.
He wanted to understand this boy’s strange train of thought.
"Why? Just because they challenged me, I should dance to their tune?" Mo Jian shook his head.
"I’d be a fool to accept such a meaningless fight. If they were furious with the elders’ decision, they should challenge the elders, not me."
When the two elders heard him, they couldn’t help but laugh.
Truly, Mo Jian had not chosen himself as the captain.
He had been chosen by the supreme elders, so their anger should have been directed at them.
"Now, the elders should understand why I did not take them seriously," Mo Jian grinned.
He was tired of the generic challenges. Just because someone provoked him didn’t mean he would lose his common sense.
"Elders, let’s continue with our research. As for those kids, I’ll deal with them later."
"Hahaha."
The elders laughed at Mo Jian’s elderly posture. He was barely twenty years old, yet he dared to call the core disciples—most of whom were older than him—kids.
"You’re right," Elder Bai Delan smiled and chose not to dwell on it any further.
Elder Luo Zhen also nodded. That was just a mere tantrum between kids; they did not take it seriously.
"So, elders, as I was saying earlier, there are other forms of energy," Mo Jian began with a serious expression.
The elders wore solemn expressions as they listened to Mo Jian as if they were listening to a sage teaching.
Slowly, Mo Jian explained the various forms of common energy.
He started with kinetic energy, then moved on to potential energy, thermal (heat) energy, and electrical energy.
To make them realize the importance of this underrated field, he delved deeper into chemical energy and mechanical energy.
For one hour, Mo Jian spoke about the various common energies, and by the end, his mouth was dry.
"Young Master, wait a moment. I’ll get you some spirit tea," Elder Luo Zhen said quickly and rushed out of the room.
His heart was filled with shock and disbelief.
He could not believe there was so much profound knowledge behind the common elements they had always overlooked.
Inside the room, Elder Bai Delan closed his eyes, digesting the newfound knowledge. His heart was pounding with excitement.
As a rune and talisman master, he understood the importance of this knowledge.
In the current cultivation world, everyone followed in their predecessors’ footsteps without questioning the underlying logic.
Why would a mere line invoke fire?
Why would a few lines on a beast skin produce such earth-shaking reactions?
The more he thought about it, the more enlightened and confused he became.
’I need to learn more. My knowledge is too shallow,’ he muttered, looking at Mo Jian with shining eyes.
Just then, Elder Luo Zhen rushed inside, carrying a tray of spirit tea.
Without caring about his image, he served Mo Jian respectfully.
"Thank you," Mo Jian said, taking the tea and sipping it to quench his dry throat.
The two elders sat beside each other, staring at Mo Jian as if they were looking at a treasure.
Returning the teacup to the table, Mo Jian looked at the elders. "Now, do you understand the importance of what I just shared?"
"Yes, Young Master," Elder Bai Delan nodded. "We thought we were knowledgeable and understood the way of the world, but we are nothing but ignorant fools.
Such profound knowledge has been right under our noses, yet we never took the time to contemplate it."
Elder Luo Zhen nodded. "True. If we think deeply and understand this profound knowledge, we won’t remain stuck at our primitive level."
"Elders, you must not look down on yourselves or others. This has been the norm for thousands of years. It is not wrong to follow the footsteps of those before us," Mo Jian said seriously.
"But with your knowledge, as long as we understand the fundamentals and principles, we can apply them to our work and improve our lives."
"You’re right," Elder Luo Zhen nodded. "We just need to know the fundamental principles and how to apply them."
"So, Young Master, are you going to continue enlightening us?" Elder Bai Delan asked excitedly.
"Of course. That’s why I came to meet you," Mo Jian responded. "But it can’t be just the two of you."
"What?" The two elders widened their eyes in confusion.
"Don’t get me wrong. We will continue our discussion. But let me tell you, this subject is broad, and we need many people to contemplate it."
"Therefore, you elders will be the heads of this new branch of knowledge."
"And you?" Elder Luo Zhen asked curiously.
"I’m the Sage. The Founder," Mo Jian joked casually, not expecting the two elders to take him seriously.
The two elders froze for a moment and exchanged glances.
Then, they turned to look at Mo Jian, who was sipping his tea.
"No problem."
"No problem with what?" Mo Jian set down his teacup, looking confused.
"You being the Sage and Founder," Elder Luo Zhen responded seriously.
"What!" Mo Jian widened his eyes in disbelief.
However, seeing their serious expressions, he knew they
weren’t joking. ’Why do the elders take my words so seriously?’ he sighed bitterly in his heart.
Before he could reject the title, Elder Bai Delan asked,
"What should we call this branch of knowledge?"
Seeing how quickly things were progressing, Mo Jian could only accept the title. Besides, he had already thought of a name.
"Let’s call it Mystic Mechanics."
Unbeknownst to Mo Jian, he had just changed the trajectory of this world.
