Chapter 86. Assault Boat
Chapter 86: 86. Assault Boat
After some scrambles, Mark finally found the phone and used it to turn off the generator. Even with that, they still wore thick gloves when they opened the anti theft door on the seventeenth floor.
It would be better to be safe than sorry.
After entering, Mark went to the storage room and pulled the assault boat out.
The assault boat that Mark had was the type that needed to be pumped first before using. This would help when they wanted to save the boat because it could be folded. But when they wanted to use it, they would need some time to pump it.
It wouldn’t be an easy job.
"It’s pretty big," Anna commented.
"When you put it on the water later, it wouldn’t look that big." Lucy shook her head. This was not the first time for her to use the assault boat. During her military training, she has already practiced rowing boats and so on.
It was part of the exercise that she had to complete in the past.
"Why did you have an assault boat in your storage?" Anna asked curiously.
"For practicing," Mark replied. "When we’re camping, we can also bring this boat along with us to play in the water. Also, I need to be able to row the boat properly to navigate through harsh current without damaging the boat as part of the training."
Driving boat was not that easy.
Those who didn’t know will think that just simple rowing will do but if they rowed without paying attention, they might end up circling in one place. Besides, proper technique will guarantee them to move forward faster with less energy.
This was the reason why there are training needed.
"I see."
"Come one, let’s bring this down."
Because the assault boat hadn’t been pumped, it was enough for Mark to be the one to bring the boat downstairs. Lucy brought some other items before setting the things back to how it used to be while Anna waited.
On the 16th floor, the three of them worked together to pump the assault boat.
When Dylan came in, this was the view that greeted him.
"You want to use the assault boat to find supplies?" Dylan frowned when he heard their plan. It was not like he didn’t agree, but he felt that it was dangerous.
The life for the past month had already lowered their morality again and again. Who knew what they had done over the past month and whether they will still follow the law.
Many people chose to commit crime because they wanted to survive.
"We don’t have that much thing up here." Mark looked at Dylan. "Even if we don’t go now, we’ll have to go sooner or later. Besides, we have to get used to this situation. Now that things hadn’t turned very bad, it’s better for us to learn to get used to it."
Dylan was silent.
Well, that was true.
He and Anna had already faced several unscrupulous people who wanted to take advantage of them in this apartment. If not because of their weapon and their attitude, they would have long been taken advantage of by others.
Mark and Lucy also needed to adapt more.
And it seemed that they wanted to go out more than anything.
In the first place, neither Mark nor Lucy were the person who liked to stay in indoor. They usually liked to travel around when there was a chance. When it was holiday, half of the time was usually spent with them traveling.
It was usually with their family members.
But occasionally, they will also travel together.
"We’ll be fine. You can stay and wait for us to come back."
"Fine. I’m going to set up the solar panel for both of us." Dylan thought about another matter.
"You have solar panel here?"
"Of course. It’s cheaper," Dylan replied.
Mark looked at Dylan strangely. "This apartment belongs to your family and you’re still thinking about how to reduce consumption?"
"...I just think it’s more convenient." Dylan shrugged.
To be honest, he was worried that there will be any blackout and wanted to set these solar panels to make sure he could still use electricity from time to time. After all, he was planning to stay in this apartment this semester and if he couldn’t finish his homework in time, the school might call his grandfather.
The days of being beaten by his grandfather was extremely bad.
But naturally, Dylan would not say that the main reason he bought the solar panel was to avoid being beaten by his grandfather.
That was too embarrassing.
"I also have solar panel," Anna added from the side.
She has countless solar panel inside her space, stacked neatly there. In the past, she would not even know how to use this thing because it was unnecessary. Now that it was required, then she might as well install solar panel.
"Don’t you want to go from this apartment?" Lucy asked.
"I don’t know when I’m going to leave," Anna replied. "And it’s better to be prepared than not."
Lucy thought about the flood downstairs and nodded.
Leaving here with boat is indeed possible.
But without any fixed location to settle, there was truly no point in them leaving the apartment and roamed on the road.
There were a lot of people who might die because they were exposed to the wind at night without proper shelter.
She didn’t want to stay in the boat either.
This kind of open boat was truly not suitable for them to use overnight.
"I’ll ask for direction to the base." Mark thought about it. "But it will require planning so that we can stop in the middle if it’s too far."
"Ok."
"Like I said before, I won’t be going to the base yet." Dylan shook his head. He looked outside and sighed deeply. "I’ll be going to another place in a day or two."
"You’re going to see your grandfather?"
