Chapter 49: 49. Arrangement
Even though Dylan was a bit surprised, he had no intention to question Anna.
"There’s still enough food for now, so just keep them for now." Dylan smiled helplessly. "If you really want to eat something, you can say it and I’ll cook for you."
"Um...Uh?" Anna looked at Dylan in confusion. His words sound a bit strange.
"I mean, we’re temporarily living together, so it’s fine to ask for something to eat occasionally," Dylan replied.
"Ok." Anna agreed.
"I’ve already cleaned the room. Let’s go to the room next door to eat dinner."
Looking at the time, it was almost the time for dinner. This was another day without training as Anna was busy helping Dylan to move things around. In a way, these could be said to be training, though.
When they reached the other room, Lucy was already sitting on the sofa and browsed her phone.
"Anything interesting?" Anna asked.
"Ah? It seems that there are several people missing." Lucy replied. "People from room 602 and 402. The people from 601 found that the room next door is empty because the two brothers there usually make a lot of noise. On the other hand, there’s a man who used to stay in 402 and should have joined together in the 802 but there’s no shadow of him at all."
"Three people are missing?" Anna arched her eyebrows.
"Well, considering that almost all of us have some backgrounds to be able to buy apartment in this area, there might be some problems after the flood is over." Lucy shrugged.
She was actually anticipated this kind of news a bit. After all, she felt a bit bored and a little gossip here and there wouldn’t hurt.
Anna looked at Lucy speechlessly and shook her head. "I think that you’re going to be rather disappointed. How long do you think you need to wait for that and how many piece of news report would there be after the flood receded?"
Lucy thought about it for a moment and nodded.
"Come here, the people inside are still talking."
"Uh, let me see."
The two girls sat together while Mark pulled Dylan to the side.
"What is it?"
"My father sent me a message. He said that once the storm receded, he’s going to send a team to pick me and Lucy up to their base," Mark said.
"Base?" Dylan looked at Mark quietly.
"As you know, our families have people in military. They seem to have some insider news and had prepared the things. During this period of time, they were still working around to build a base for people to live."
"... In this weather?"
"Not like what you think. They’re staying on top of a hill and built wall around the surrounding residences. Once the rain is getting better, they’ll start to make the wall higher and also built more residences and other necessary buildings," Mark replied. "I told you this because I want you and Anna to come with us."
Dylan arched his eyebrows.
Staying with Mark and Lucy will be quite good considering that they would have the backing of the family behind them.
But there was a problem.
"My grandfather is not in the same direction as your base. Even if I want to go there, I have to pick him up first." Dylan couldn’t possibly leave his grandfather behind. He still maintained the contact with his grandfather, so he knew that he’s fine.
But if the storm didn’t stop, it was unknown whether this would stay the same.
Mark nodded. "I’ll ask Anna later."
Dylan nodded back. "I’ll reunite with you in the base as long as you provide me the location. However, are you sure you want to go there right from the very beginning even when they hadn’t gained any foothold?"
Mark furrowed his eyebrows.
This was actually another problem that he has been thinking.
If his and Lucy’s family hadn’t gained proper foothold in the base, the two of them would only make more troubles and became a burden if they came. After all, the two of them were not exactly people with excellent abilities.
At most, they have slightly higher physical strength.
Other than that, there’s nothing.
"Let’s discuss it later when the storm truly receded and there’s no need to worry about it. Oh right, let’s go and get some rain water for bath and washing. We can’t waste the drinking water."
"I’ll go."
"Ok."
The two boys thus went to the balcony while Lucy and Anna moved slightly further. They were still reading the current news from the chat group.
But the situation was not very good.
"The water is reaching the fifth floor." Lucy furrowed her eyebrows. "You know what it means, right?"
Anna’s eyes turned a shade colder. "Yeah."
