Chapter 219: 219. A Lake

So strict?

Anna looked at the wall in front of her, a bit curious about what was inside to the point that the security was so strict.

So when they reached the place, Anna’s eyes looked in the direction of the lake.

And...

There was nothing.

Honestly, Anna couldn’t see anything different from the lake in front of her compared to ordinary lake. There were soldiers around the lake, watching the lake and prevent others from getting close.

But the lake itself didn’t look any different from usual.

After looking for a few seconds but still didn’t find anything strange, Anna retracted her gaze back.

"There will be a few people who come to give us the packets we need to bring tomorrow," Dylan said. "You don’t have to do anything, though. Just stay in the truck if you don’t know where to go."

"We’ll stay here overnight?" Anna asked another question.

"It’s too late to go out now," Dylan replied. "Do you not want to stay here?"

"It’s fine." Anna looked at the lake in front of her. Since she couldn’t see what was different from the water in the lake, could she just pour the lake water into her space?

But for her to do that, she would need to be at a certain distance from the lake. She had tested it herself and knew that there was a limit to how far she could reach to put items into her space or take it out.

Just like that car back then, she tried to put it as high as possible. However, it was not possible because there was a limit to how far Anna could toss that car out of her space.

"Can we take a look at the lake closer?"

"I’ll try to ask," Dylan replied. He looked at the lake in front of him, not understanding why Anna was so interested in the lake. Though, he had to admit that he himself was a bit curious.

Obviously, the lake didn’t look any different, but it can produce something that caused the fishes to turn aggressive.

So there should be something, right?

But what it was, it was not something he could know.

Mark and the others finished with their papers and permission before they were allowed to enter. This was just a temporary base and so far, it didn’t look like a good one because the buildings were rather crude.

However, looking at the soldiers who were holding the guns behind to guard, it was estimated that ordinary people would not even dare to come closer.

"We’re here." Mark came out of the off road car and stretched his body. He was not wearing any uniform and instead ordinary clothes. The mission stated for them not to use their uniform but casual clothes for some reasons.

Dylan had jumped out of the truck. "Are you going to load the samples they mentioned to the truck now or tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow," Mark replied. "Alan is contacting the superior to talk about it. For now, our task is to rest and not let so many people remember our faces."

"How many teams are here?" Dylan suddenly asked another question.

As they entered this temporary base, he noticed that most of the buildings were nothing more than tents. It was not the small tents for camping but the large military tents that could fit hundreds of people inside.*

At the same time, there were already two trucks parked at the parking lot. There should be more than one team who came here and the reason was temporarily unknown.

"5 different teams," Mark replied. "But I don’t know who they are."

Dylan nodded.

It seemed that the sample or something that they wanted to take out should be important to deploy so many people at once.

He rubbed his forehead and felt that he had somehow got involved in something important. If they messed up in the middle, the consequences would be quite serious later.

It was a bit annoying.

"Dylan?"

"I’m fine, Sister Anna." Dylan smiled reassuringly and then asked, "Can we take a look at the lake?"

"Do you mean you want to take a look at the fierce fishes?" Mark asked with a smile. "They made a strong net to let these fishes stay in a certain area for observation. I’ll ask for permission to take a look from the distance."

"Ok."

Net?

Anna looked at the lake and focused her attention to the poles in the lake. It seemed that the military used these poles to spread the net in order to catch the fishes. They didn’t want to take the fishes out of the lake, but they needed to make the fishes at certain distance for observation.

So it was built there.

Dylan and Anna waited for a moment before Lucy and Mark returned with the permission and another soldier to lead the six of them. Alan and Lidia were waiting with Dylan and Anna. The soldier lead them to the place where the fierce fishes were located.

"There’s a fence and you can’t cross this fence or your safety wouldn’t be guaranteed," the soldier explained. "These fishes are just like piranha and liked to bite anything that come towards them."

"Most fishes didn’t even have teeth, right?" Dylan asked another question.

"No," the soldier replied. "But these fishes somehow could bite through fleshes without teeth lately."

The six of them felt goosebumps when they heard what the soldier said. These fishes are so dangerous?

"Thankfully, the fishes can’t live in the land."

The others: "..."

If these fishes could live in the land, they wouldn’t be named fish in the first place. Besides, if these fishes started to change, would other animals also started to change?

For a moment, Dylan thought about Kitty at home.

He had taken out a lot of food for Kitty so that this cat would not starve when he was away. But the cat has been sleeping more and more lately, making Dylan rather worried.
