Chapter 200: 200. Soil

At this moment, Dylan was really glad that he learned how to cook for himself. Even though he did it mostly because his grandfather told him to live by himself and told him to be independent, Dylan used to not like cooking.

Because he felt that it was tiring.

The only reason why he kept cooking was because his grandfather never gave him too much pocket money. He had to learn to manage his own expense, which made him prefer cooking by himself.

It was a bit cheaper.

Now, he felt thankful for his grandfather.

With this little cooking excuse, he could continue to pull Anna to spend more time with him.

"The gate is this way, you can go first," Anna said when they reached the intersection.

"Ok." Dylan felt that it was a pity he couldn’t walk with Anna a while longer, but it was also not that bad.

Anna nodded at Dylan. She showed her base card and then made her way out to the river nearby. There were a lot of people who were already there, crouching to get the pitiful water that was flowing towards them.

She only passed by the look for a moment and then walked downstream. There was no intention to fight with these people at all.

She also needed water, not for drinking or all, but for the sake of her plants. After all, she was about to make the hydroponic plants. However, the best water for hydroponic plants are the rainwater, which she has plenty in her space.

So for this pitiful water here, Anna was really not interested.

The base itself only released a small amount of water every day and reused most of the water after going through the generator to produce electricity. They couldn’t afford to waste any available resources.

Anna walked around and looked at the ground below her and after walking around for a while, she picked the grassy area at the sides. Digging some soils and packed them into the plastic bags she carried.

’Can I put the soil into the space?’

Anna thought about it for a moment and suddenly thought about the magical space that could be used for plants in the books. It looked very magical and amazing, but Anna had the faint feeling that it was not applicable for her space.

Time was not moving in her space at all, which would make it impossible for her to plant anything and grow anything inside her space.

So the thought that flashed in her mind was pressed back once again.

After she had packed these soil, Anna made her way back to the base. Thankfully, it was easy to get in and out of the base as long as they have the base card. Without this base card, they would need to undergo a lot of testing and identity authentication.

Perhaps in the future, it would be even harder to enter a base.

Anna went to the hall and saw Dylan walking out. He nodded in her direction. "Do you want to pick some food from the supermarket?"

"Is there anything interesting there?"

"There are some meat," Dylan replied.

Meat?

Anna felt her mouth water when Dylan said that, but she thought that she had already bought meat before, which was still placed in her refrigerator.

"I still have some."

"The base cut one pig each day to sell the meat. It’s not much, but a lot of people will buy a bit just to taste it and only the rich would be able to eat. It’s already afternoon, so it might have long been bought out, but I want to check," Dylan said.

Only one pig?

Considering the number of people in this base was definitely in thousands or even more, one pig was indeed not enough.

But many of them couldn’t even earn enough to eat from the canteen, so they wouldn’t dream about eating meat.

This was not applicable for Dylan or Anna, though.

They have a lot of contribution points.

"Then let’s go. I want to see if there are some milk and vegetables," Anna said. She didn’t have many fresh vegetables in her space because vegetables was very fast to turn bad. There was no way her father would put so many of them in the storage.

This vegetables and fruits were only supplied for one day, so the amount was not much. Only enough for a few weeks to months for one person’ consumption.

If there were more people added, it wouldn’t be enough at all.

This is also one of the reasons why Anna wanted to plant her own vegetables. There were a lot of meat in her space because her father prepared more than one full warehouse of it. But vegetables and fruits were very limited.

She had to prepare it herself if she truly wanted to.

"Ok." Dylan smiled.

The two of them made their way to the supermarket. This time, there were five people inside, so they waited outside.

"The safety in the base is quite good," Anna commented. She had never seen anyone making trouble over the past few days. Of course, it was unknown whether it would be the same in the future.

"It’s pretty good." Dylan nodded. "But not for the other areas. There are still some fights there."

"Uh." Anna pursed her lips.

This was one of the few reasons why the base was distributed to a few districts. The manpower was limited but to guarantee safety for those who were able, it was still possible.

For those who didn’t have much resources, they should pray more that there were no one who wanted to trouble them.

"But the degree is still low because there are still law enforcements," Dylan continued.

Anna nodded in understanding.

Ding!

The door in front of them opened and two people came out. They hugged their resources and walked away while Dylan and Anna swiped their base card and entered. Everyone was wary with each other these days.
