Chapter 180. The Remote Mall
Chapter 180: 180. The Remote Mall
He looked at Dylan speechlessly but in the end shrugged. "Let’s just hope that this would not happen later."
"Yeah."
They entered the car and the truck and headed to the south areas. To be exact, to the edge of the city where the two districts were mentioned before.
In the beginning, there were many cars and people who were scavenging around. There were also a lot of disputes as the property owner came and tried to drive those who wanted to trespass into his place.
Most people avoided these kind of conflicts.
After all, if there was already an owner there, there was no need for them to make more troubles with these people. It was more important to find places without any owner or those who owned it hadn’t come.
Of course, not everyone was such peace loving people. There were still some people who made trouble to those who claimed to be the owner to ask them to prove that they were truly the owner.
After all, it was easy to make false claims here.
So the areas around the base was especially noisy with a lot of people around.
But as they got further and further away from the base, the number of people decreased rapidly. Not to mention, it was still early in the morning and not many people picked the same route as them.
The road was rugged with countless trashes piled up at the side of the road.
"This areas have been cleaned too," Anna commented.
"This is one of the route towards the Center Base," Dylan replied. "Of course, it’s only if you come from that apartments area."
"You know so much about the locations."
"I have been looking at it to find the best route to go to this district." Dylan shook his head. "But I can’t say for sure about the situation at the place later. It might not be as good as how the others are because no one is cleaning that place.
"Yes."
The video call was still ongoing and from the way it looked like, they all didn’t hesitate to charge their phones to full. After all, they were going out for a long time and spending more contribution points for electricity was not impossible.
At the very least, it was better than not being able to contact each other out here.
The power banks were also prepared enough to use when they needed it.
Time passed quietly.
The distance from their base to the south district was quite far, so they crossed part of the Central Base’s exploration area. Even if the exploration areas were not defined clearly between each other, it seemed to have slowly become tacit agreement.
In this special period of time, there was truly no time for the military to pay attention to them.
And as they got further and further away from the places with many people, the road also become rougher.
Looking at the road in front of them, it was not really ideal for their cars to pass through.
"Is it still far?" Lucy looked outside, not really recognizing where she actually is. She had never gone to this part of the city before and the buildings looked unfamiliar. Not to mention, more than half of the buildings were destroyed due to the flood before.
Right now, this place looked more like a warzone rather than a city district.
A lot of buildings were destroyed, trees were chopped down and the cars and other things were turned upside down.
Lucy could even see that there was a television on top of the tree not far from where their car passed. How it ended up stuck there, Lucy had no idea at all.
"No." Mark looked at the map in front of him and purposely picked the large road. This way, even if there were some obstacles on the way, it would not stop them from reaching the district.
There were many things thrown and the road was far from smooth.
It was filled with dirt that hadn’t been cleaned up yet after the flood. But the mud was not so thick that they couldn’t pass by.
Probably, this was because the current of that flood back then was not static. Some were faster and some were slower. This way, the mud didn’t condense at the bottom too much. It was dirty and all, but it was not impassable.
"The large road will reach the district, but the road is getting worse." Mark frowned as he drove the truck. He could sense that the wheels were already working hard because the mud was sticking to these wheels.
The truck was not equipped specifically to travel this kind of terrain, which made it difficult for them to travel peacefully.
They would have to clean up the wheel before their departure later if they didn’t want to be stuck in the middle of the street.
"It’s over there." Anna finally saw the building. It was a six story mall and looking at the road that was moving up, she realized that this area was a bit higher than some other places in the city.
But if they were to turn the other side towards the factory, it was clear that the road was going down once again.
The differences in height between the areas in the district was still quite visible.
"Yes." Dylan looked at the mall and furrowed his eyebrows. "The car has to be parked outside. The entrance of the mall is filled with cars."
The others also saw it as they approached. Pile of cars were stuck on the front of the mall, some were turned upside down while the rest were sideways.
Almost none of the car was on the correct position.
"Damn, it’ll be very difficult to enter," Lucy cursed when she saw the situation.
Not to mention, it was hard to guess what brand these cars were because their surface was coated with dirt and mud. It was so dirty that Lucy felt rather disgusted. Even if her training made her train in the mud from time to time, she would always take a thorough bath afterwards.
