Chapter 169. Apartments and Mall

Chapter 169: 169. Apartments and Mall

The roads around the base has been cleaned up yesterday. Many people were sent to work here and earned quite a lot of contribution points based on how many trashes they managed to clear up.

So everyone was very energetic.

Not to mention, there’s also free lunch and water. Thus, the surroundings area of the base was relatively clean and cars could pass by the road.

At this hour, not many people passed by this place, so it was quite deserted.

"Where are we going first?"

"I have selected three apartments," Dylan replied. They are connected through phone calls just like yesterday to make it easier for their communication. Anyway, their phones were still quite useful at this time.

"Three, do you think there’s enough time and gasses?"

"Don’t worry, if we’re going by this route, it would be quite easy."

"Ok."

They quickly headed to the first apartment. Looking at the relatively empty parking lot, it was clear that there were not many people here. Also, the usable cars have been all used up and the rest were abandoned.

This apartment was different from their apartment where the tenth parking lot belonged to Dylan. It has been mixed with others and Dylan quickly noticed that his own car was missing.

Well, he was not very surprised.

The technique to steal a car was not that secret considering that many people liked to watch action movies where there would be someone who steal a car there.

Copying the techinique....

Even if it was not very easy, it was still plausible.

They parked at the highest parking lot.

"One of us will stay here to guard our truck and car. The others will go up. Who wants to stay?" Dylan asked.

"I’ll stay," Anna said. "I don’t think that my stamina will keep up if I have to go up and down several times."

The furniture was also pretty heavy, so Anna would rather stay here. Anyway, she has her gun and could protect herself.

Dylan looked at Anna with a frown and then nodded. "Alright, you be careful."

"I will."

Dylan jumped down followed by Mark and Lucy. The two of them had already locked their cars and then headed to the door and then went to the stairs. His apartment was still upstairs, so it would take some time before they could come back.

Anna sat on the seat of the truck, watching the others left.

She looked around the place and waited patiently.

There were still people living in the apartment and if they wanted to target her and their vehicles, then don’t blame her for being unkind.

Time passed quietly before Dylan and the others appeared again. This time, they were carrying a large trolley with several mattresses stacked together.

"You’re back so quickly?" Anna asked.

"This apartment is only 12 stories high," Dylan said helplessly. "There’s no other people living in this apartment but most rooms have sign of being entered."

Anna nodded in understanding.

The flood reached the eight floor.

So, the others would have to live together and forced themselves to stay. When the flood was finally stopped, they naturally left this cramped place through all kind of means possible.

How many survived and how they survived was not something that Anna knew.

All she knew was that they still have some furniture that can be used.

"The mattresses?"

"They’re from my apartment," Dylan replied. "I can’t take the others because some are broken and dirty. This trolley was found in the storage room in the rooftop."

"There are also some other useful items there." Lucy waved the bucket, shovel, and a few other tools she carried. Dylan and Mark were working to move the mattress while she took other things.

"I see." Anna nodded.

They were not very surprised to see that Dylan’s apartment was broken in.

In this situation, it was very hard for them to defend what belonged to them. And even if Dylan used to have a lot of properties, they were all now rather useless. At most, the land will still be owned by them once the reconstruction was finished.

It was unknown how the government will arrange it in the future.

"Well, we can’t really take the other things. The tables, chairs and others are broken." Mark shook his head. "Only the mattresses are still in relatively good condition. There are four of them, which is enough for us."

"Yes." Anna nodded in agreement.

"Let’s go to the next one."

"Ok."

They went into their respective vehicles once more and headed to the next apartment. This time, the situation was worse than before because they could see several people were arguing on the street.

It was no longer so early and many people came out and quarreled with others.

It seemed that they were also planning to scavenge for items.

"It seems we can’t really go to the apartment." Anna furrowed her eyebrows. "Shall we head to the mall instead?"

"Ok."

The others agreed and headed to the nearby mall. There were also some people there but the situation was more peaceful. They only focus on moving the item they needed and then left again.

Anna was left behind to guard the truck and car while the other three went inside.

Most people were still looking for food.

So the furniture store was abandoned.

This way, no one competed with them as they moved the sofas, tables, chairs, and even more beddings.

They continued until the truck was full and then went back to the base.

"Fiuh, I was a bit nervous when I see there are many people here," Lucy said as she slumped on her chair.

"There are too many people, so they’re unwilling to clash," Dylan said calmly. "There’s no need to worry so much. They knew that if they were to argue, others will only take advantage, so they moved as quickly as possible and try to avoid arguing and wasting time."

Time is very precious.
