For the rest of the night, Lena didn’t say a single word to me. Not one.

She didn’t have to.

The tension in the air was thick enough to suffocate me, pressing in from all sides. I could feel the weight of her anger, the quiet fury in the way she moved, the way she refused to even glance in my direction. She knew—knew I was keeping something from her. And Lena wasn’t the kind of person to let things go easily.

She wanted the truth.

And I couldn’t give it to her. Not yet.

It wasn’t that I didn’t trust her. It was that I knew her too well. I knew exactly how she would react, how she would tear through the situation like a storm, demanding answers, demanding action. And I couldn’t afford that. Not now.

This was temporary, I told myself. Just a momentary lapse. With time, she’d cool off. We’d be okay.

Now that I knew what the footage entailed, it didn’t make sense to still have it lying around. I didn’t want Lena watching it when I wasn’t there and finding the footage.

When I was done, I got up from the couch and made my way to the bedroom, ready to go to bed. However, to my shock, it was empty. Lena was nowhere to be found.

"Babe?" I called in shock. "Where are you?"

I returned to the kitchen, but it was empty and clean. Then, I made my way to the bathroom, but she wasn’t there either.

"Babe!" I called out more forcefully.

I made my way then to one of the guest bedrooms, and sure enough, I found Lena there. She was lying on the bed, dressed in her nighties, she was busy on her phone when I pushed the door open. When she saw me, she turned in the bed, choosing to face the wall.

"Come on... seriously?" I muttered heatedly as I walked in.

I shook my head, this had gone on as far as it could. I couldn’t allow this issue to linger because it was only going to get worse. I had to stop all this now! Neither I nor Lena were going to bed without reconciling.

I made my way to the bed and sat beside her, "babe, are you ignoring me?"

She said nothing, facing pointedly away from me.

"Come on, honey. Talk to me."

"I’m just trying to sleep, can you leave?" She snapped at me.

"Come to the bedroom," I told her.

"Hell no! I’m not in the mood right now."

"I just told you no!" She said as she sat up, blowing hair from her face. "Leave me the fuck alone!"

"Okay, you’re right. But please, let’s not fight about this."

"Not until you tell me what it is." She replied stubbornly as she folded her arms over her breasts. "That thing you’re keeping from me, I want to know what it is."

I looked at her, her face was resolute, she had really made up her mind. With a sigh, I climbed further into the bed and sat before her, taking her hand in mine, "Babe, I just need time. You’ll find out everything in due time. But for now... just give me some time, please."

She shook her head, "I don’t think so."

"Have I ever kept anything from you before?" I cried, "This is the first time I’m doing such a thing, you have to understand that I’m doing it for a reason. Please, I cannot tell you right now!"

"Well... if that’s the case..." she was about to lie back down on the bed but I caught her by the elbow and gently stopped her, "Please baby, I don’t want to sleep separately from you tonight. I need you by my side. I need you right here with me, baby."

She looked at me but didn’t make a move to relinquish my hold on her elbow. Seeing it as a good sign, I leaned forward and planted my lips over hers, kissing her deeply.
