Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 202: Use Everything
Chapter 202: Use Everything
With the healing trip over, the participants were forcibly returned to the tense atmosphere of preparing for the finals.
And so, the next day, Rayen and Adrian headed to the practice room, their muscles still aching from the lingering exertion of their beach volleyball game. Both of them held a bottle of Revitalizing Drink each as they approached the door to the practice room.
But as Adrian reached out to the handle of the door, he suddenly stopped and sighed.
"If this room is still empty, I’ll go and grab the kid writer or the Director to let me in their personal practice rooms to drag them out myself," he said.
Rayen chuckled.
Finally, Adrian pulled open the door. Surprisingly, the whole group was already complete. Even the two troublemakers were there.
Stepping inside, Adrian was speechless. He stared at the entire group, his eyes almost tearing up.
"I... Am I dreaming?" Adrian asked, wiping his imaginary tears.
Rayen closed the door behind him and sat beside Liam as usual.
It was a long time since the whole team had gathered during practice like this, so Adrian’s reaction was understandable.
After calming down, Adrian pulled the whiteboard, continuing the discussion where they had left off. The three song suggestions were still written on it, and it had dried that it was hard to even wipe it off.
"I hope that we will come into an agreement this time," Adrian said, mainly staring at the two troublemakers.
Ren and Oh Heejun had nothing to say.
"So, where did we leave off?"
Liam answered on the team’s behalf, mimicking the last words from the last meeting. "’The second song concept is too plain.’"
Everyone pursed their lips. Rayen laughed weakly. There seemed to be a bead of sweat forming on his forehead.
"....."
Liam continued, still unaware of the strange atmosphere, "That was where we left off. Oh Heejun said the second song’s concept is too plain."
"Hahaha..." Rayen was still laughing. He wanted to cover Liam’s mouth at this point.
Surprisingly however, the involved party didn’t have any reaction whatsoever. Ren didn’t fight for his opinion, so Oh Heejun had nothing to rebutt.
’They should have done this from the get go instead of arguing all the time.’
Rayen complained in his mind.
On the contrary, Adrian was sighing in relief. It was better like this than having the team fight again.
"Then what do the others suggest?" he asked.
Once again, Liam spoke. "As I said, I’d like to push for the third song."
Rayen glanced at his old friend in puzzlement. Why does he even want to push for a break-up song?
"I want you to listen to the lyrics first. We can try to change the break-up part into another. I just want you to focus on the lyrics before you try to reject me."
’The lyrics?’
Rayen and the others hadn’t listened well to this song, so they had no idea about it other than it being a break-up song.
Adrian took out his phone and played the song’s music video.
The music video portrayed two couples in a coffee shop, hurling sharp gazes into each other. As the song built-up to the chorus, the music turned louder and louder.
Finally, the chorus began. Instead of insulting each other, the couple pointed their fingers, each forming a handgun. Their insults turned into bullets they fired toward each other.
"Your words, like bullets.
You can never ever forget
BANG BANG!"
As the music faded, Adrian clapped.
"Nice, I like this song," Adrian said, smiling knowingly—mostly at the two troublemakers.
Not only him, but Rayen and the others were also looking at them. It seemed like Liam had other intentions for pushing the song to the team.
It wasn’t just because he wanted to perform it.
It seemed like he was admonishing the two troublemakers by making them listen to this. Adrian was in a silent agreement with Liam’s ways. He didn’t bring up the subject directly, but he sent his message in a clear way.
Ren sighed in defeat. "I understand."
Oh Heejun also nodded.
"So, should we choose this song?" Ren asked somewhat tiredly, looking around the team.
Everyone was just about to agree when Adrian feigned a cough. It was great that the team was going in a good direction, but there was just one problem.
"What’s the matter?" Liam asked.
"This song isn’t from an idol group."
Just then, Rayen realized. Throughout the whole music video, there wasn’t any group dance. Only guys singing with instruments.
"It’s from a band," Adrian said.
The group turned silent.
"Wouldn’t it be fine? We can create a whole new choreography and it will make us seem creative to the fans," Iris said.
"If we have more time, then yes, creating a whole new choreography is good," Ara also joined in.
Her words left the team speechless except Adrian. Although there were still two more weeks before the finals, creating a whole new choreography from scratch...
This team had no one with good enough choreography-making skills like Yeo Haru and Xu Jiji to do that.
If only they didn’t waste the two weeks practicing by themselves.
Adrian continued. "Don’t get me wrong. I like the song, but I don’t think we’ll be able to pull this off just like that. Look at the other team’s line-up too. They’re a team made-up of dancers."
Right... Xu Jiji with his charismatic aura, Yeo Haru, the dance-machine, Xi Huan whose every move shines with his antics. They also have the ballerina, and even Mr. Big News’s dancing skills were high.
"But if we look at it that way, won’t it be better to choose this song since it was made for a vocal group?" Rayen said.
The others also agreed in unison.
But Adrian shook his head.
"Not just that," he said. "During the first round, the viewers thought it’s not appropriate to perform a non-idol song."
The team turned silent once more.
On the other hand, Rayen’s mind began to turn. The principles he learned when he upgraded his rank for his producing skills echoed inside.
’Use everything...’
’Everything...’
’Everything?’
He lifted his gaze, staring at the three songs on the white board and then his group composition.
Unlike the team 2, their group’s strength was their vocal skills — the complete opposite of the other team.
Suddenly, a thought struck him.
He opened his mouth. "If that was the only problem, why don’t we try this?"
