Chapter 179: MVP (1)

"Let’s first start with Team Grit! May all the participants from this team please go down to the stage?"

The four members of Team Grit left their seats and headed toward the stage. One by one, they took their own position and faced the cameras. The cameras all turned toward the four, alongside Yeon Miwol.

"So, who’s gonna be the MVP of this team?"

Yeon Miwol didn’t waste any time, looking through the result written on the cue card in her hand. Her lips curved up as her eyes skidded through the words.

"Oh, this is getting interesting!" she exclaimed then turned to the participants on their seats. "Can you all guess who it is?"

Rayen stared at the four people on the stage. Since they have the smallest number of people in a team, it was all too easy to pay attention to every member during their performance.

And for Rayen, his gaze lingered on one of them, his teeth gritted in annoyance. He hated to admit it, but out of everyone in this team, Ren was the one who stood out the most.

Yeon Miwol called the name of the winner. "Congratulations, Ren!"

’As expected.’

Rayen clicked his tongue and muttered, "Just because he had the most part out of everyone."

This time, Rayen wasn’t being biased. Ren had too many parts compared to his other teammates. The performance was just over a minute long, and having three parts — it was all too much.

’If he still couldn’t snatch the MVP title even after all that, he should just go back to his grave.’

Rayen looked away from the stage, removing that annoying figure out of his vision. However, Yeon Miwol still wasn’t yet done with the announcement.

She opened her mouth again and continued her words. "—and Zbigniew! We have a tie!"

"Oohh!!!"

Rayen flinched in surprise from the sudden roar not far from him. Looking sideways, he saw Xu Jiji standing in excitement.

"Congratulations, brother!" Xu Jiji cheered.

Turning his gaze back on the stage, Rayen also saw the dumbfounded reaction of Mr. Big News. His mouth was slightly agape as if not believing what he just heard, but when Xu Jiji’s voice reached his ears, he immediately came to his senses.

With a smile, he stepped up beside Ren, towering over the small figure of Ren wearing a white suit. Seeing this scene, Rayen’s annoyance slightly eased, his sneer turning into a smirk.

"Do you have anything to say?" Yeon Miwol asked and gave the two a look.

Mr. Big News was just about to open his mouth when Ren beat him up to it. Mr. Big News pursed his lips and let Ren speak.

"Thank you for all the support I was given. If not for all of my fans, I wouldn’t have made it."

"Please send a heart to everyone who voted for you," Yeon Miwol requested.

From his seat, Rayen couldn’t help but wonder.

’Are they not getting along?’

But he couldn’t be entirely sure. Rayen also didn’t get along with Mr. Big News before, and Mr. Big News’s actions right now with Ren weren’t identical to how he treated Rayen.

Rayen was basically met with hissing like Mr. Big News was a mother cat protecting his young.

Yet, there seemed to be a different kind of air between the two. It might just be Rayen’s imagination, but Mr. Big News seemed to be unwilling to stand beside Ren.

’Well, I also can’t stand him.’

Ren’s pretentiousness continued for a few more seconds before Mr. Big News got to speak. After the short interview, Yeon Miwol smiled at them, her eyes turning into crescent as she congratulated the two again.

However, her tone immediately changed.

"But the MVP can only be one person."

Mr. Big News and Ren suddenly tensed up at her words.

’What does that mean?’

"Since we have a tie, we will conduct a tie breaker!" Turning her gaze toward the participants, she asked them with the same sweet smile, "Shall we?"

"For the tie breaking results, the ones who will decide are the members of the other teams. Everyone can do it by accessing Idol:Revive’s app interface."

’A chance!’

Rayen chuckled then immediately grabbed his phone from his pocket.

"What’s that?" Adrian laughed beside him, his finger pointed at the object in Rayen’s hand.

"My phone," Rayen answered, taking out the black object out of a bundle of bandage and bubble wrap.

Ever since the accident in the bathroom, he made this protective measure to prevent his phone from being broken.

’If only I can place it in a safe, I’ll do it.’

But since he needed to use it, he couldn’t.

"I thought it’s a contraband," Adrian teased.

Rayen shook his head and sighed. "You should probably do it too."

"No way." Adrian laughed even more. "Why the hell should I?"

"If you know, you definitely will," Rayen answered and was about to explain when Yeon Miwol’s voice interrupted him.

"The final MVP will receive his MVP vote points multiplied into a hundred and will be added to his debut points. Are the participants from the other teams ready? If so, then let’s start voting."

With her words, the screen displayed a countdown timer. Rayen proceeded toward the Idol:Revive app.

[Surprise Event!

It was obvious whom Rayen would choose. Without hesitation, he pressed the first option. After voting, he carefully wrapped his phone and placed it in his pocket.

Recalling the events from the first day, he turned to Adrian. "If you choose Zbigniew, I’ll treat you to something."

Adrian was just about to press an option when he heard Rayen’s words. His thumb stopped its action.

"Really?" Adrian asked.

Rayen nodded.

Smirking, he asked again, "Even if I was about to choose him all along?"

’Didn’t they have an argument before?’

In the end Rayen could only nod begrudgingly, his teeth clenched. He was afraid that Adrian was going to retract his decision if he said no. Adrian happily pressed the button and showed Rayen for confirmation.

[Vote confirmed!]

"You said that. I’m looking forward to it." Suddenly, Adrian switched the topic. "But what’s the reason for wrapping your phone like that?"

Rayen did not bother to answer this scheming lazy writer again, focusing on the scene on the stage instead.

One minute passed. The countdown on the screen faded, replaced with the names of Ren and Mr. Big News.

"Now, who’s gonna be the final MVP for team Grit?"
