Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear
Chapter 174: How Old Are You?

Chapter 174: How Old Are You?

"We might lose," Rayen said, turning his head toward Adrian.

"Do you think so too?"

Rayen nodded. His other teammates also heard his words and focused on the performance onstage. Liam had three parts — including the page he found, Xi Huan’s giveaway, and... Minho’s.

In the end, Minho’s part landed on Liam’s lap. Since they were both rappers, Liam also competed for his part and won it.

Perhaps it was cruel, but... it was well-deserved. He pulled it off with ease. Not only that, he was able to pull it off with grandeur.

He exuded a refreshing guy aura, befitting of the pool party concept.

"Come back here and let’s dance

Don’t fret and lose this chance

You’ll never know when

The music would stop all of a sudden"

Their concept was far too casual than the first two teams, but because of the sudden change, it felt so refreshing.

Because of that, Rayen feared they might not win.

It wasn’t just a simple pool party concept, either. With a slightly dreamy atmosphere, the air was filled with youthful nostalgia. And watching the smile in Liam’s lips, Rayen couldn’t help but dwell in his memories.

Liam used to be like this. When performing, he had the brightest smile on. He always knew how to have fun. In their group of three, he was the party-bringer.

Rayen didn’t know when it happened, but Liam suddenly stopped being like that.

No... Perhaps he just chose to ignore it.

Most of the time, Rayen stood before them as their band’s vocalist. He had never tried to look back and check for Liam’s expression onstage before.

’Was he having the same kind of fun as before?’

Rayen would never know.

’Well, at least he seemed to be having fun now.’

Letting out a self-deprecating chuckle, Rayen continued to listen. Once again, Liam stepped into the formation’s center and sang his line.

"You might not know when it’s o-o-over."

It wasn’t a rap part but a one-liner featuring his husky voice.

"Isn’t this the part Xi Huan gave away?" Rayen mused aloud.

He closed his eyes and imagined the page that Xi Huan once offered for him. He once thought it was an insignificant part, but with Liam’s execution, it wasn’t like that at all.

’If it was me, will I be able to pull it off?’

Probably... but Rayen wasn’t sure if he would be able to have fun just what Liam was doing onstage.

"Is that it?" Yeo Haru asked his own roommate.

Xi Huan shrugged. "I don’t know. I don’t know how to read a music sheet."

"You’re a performer now, you should learn how," Yeo Haru suggested.

"I’m also a performer before, but I didn’t need to learn it," Xi Huan replied casually then lunged at Yeo Haru. "Teach me, Haruru."

"Get off me!"

Another brawl commenced.

’This girl really has no sense of space...’

When the third performance and the MVP voting segment ended, there was a short break given for the participants.

No one felt like resting, though. The next segment would be the announcement of this round’s result. After that, the participants’ fates would be determined.

Even Rayen, with his 17 sponsors, felt nervous for a reason. If his points didn’t rise from the last round, those sponsors would undoubtedly leave. Unlike his first five sponsors, he didn’t share the same bond with them.

He had some interactions with Madame Sophie and the others; while the rest, he still hadn’t met. So, Rayen didn’t feel at ease not knowing what their views of him were like.

As he was contemplating these things, he heard footsteps approaching their area. Rayen lifted his head and met Binh’s eyes.

"Can I have a talk with you?"

Rayen calmly nodded, then stood up. Binh shifted his gaze toward another person in Rayen’s team: Yeo Haru.

"Also with you?"

"If this is about explaining publicly..." Yeo Haru avoided his gaze. "I don’t think I can help."

Binh flashed a disappointed smile. "Yeah, I know... I just want to say something."

Finally, Yeo Haru also stood up. Since there was still an hour left before the resumption of the filming, the three found a secluded spot at the back of the stage.

However, Binh remained silent, feeling awkward all of a sudden.

"What’s this about?" Rayen asked, unable to take the awkwardness anymore.

"Well, I... I just want to say goodbye."

Rayen and Yeo Haru stiffened.

"What are you saying?" Rayen asked.

"You already know it," Binh replied. "You know I’m not coming back out of this studio."

"....." Yeo Haru remained silent.

"I didn’t even try to snatch a part. Didn’t you notice?"

Rayen did notice. During the interim evaluations, Binh didn’t stand to compete in any parts.

Binh laughed, but it wasn’t entirely a laughter with any evidence of happiness. His hands were trembling at his side, but when he noticed Rayen looking at it, he hid it away on his back.

"So, I came here to say goodbye," Binh mumbled.

"Are you stupid?" Yeo Haru suddenly said. "Why did you give up?"

Taken aback, Binh wasn’t able to respond immediately. Finally, he opened his mouth.

"Well, it wasn’t me. You might not know, but I’m pretty persistent. Just... my sponsors..." He laughed self-deprecatingly again. "They’re the ones who’ve given up on me."

Rayen and Yeo Haru couldn’t speak.

"Not everyone, though. Hahaha... Someone still believed in me... At least."

"Stupid." Yeo Haru leaned on the wall, trying to hide his face. "Stupid."

"I did make a mistake. I shouldn’t have resorted to violence."

"You didn’t hit me."

"Rayen only stopped me."

"You still didn’t hit me."

"I was really about to, though. You were so annoying, you know?"

Finally, Yeo Haru had no response but to admit it. "I know..."

The rim of Yeo Haru’s eyes were gradually turning red. In just a moment, Rayen witnessed him acting like a child again.

Rayen didn’t know how to react. These two had never been able to hit it off before, but now, Yeo Haru was crying for Binh.

’What a twist of fate.’

"You shouldn’t have tried to hit me. Stupid."

"I had no choice. You were so obnoxious and loud," Binh joked then laughed. That was the only thing he could do.

"Oh, shut up," Yeo Haru said, sniffing.

Binh just offered some consolation words while patting him on the back. "You should debut, Leader."

"Shut up. You said I’m not supposed to be a leader. I’ll never lead another group again. I don’t want to lead ungrateful ones like you!" Yeo Haru tried to act like a grown-up once again.

"Yeah, don’t lead. You suck."

There were no words of apology. They had passed that stage already. Saying anything more would be repetitive.

"Anyway, I’ve always been curious..." Binh said, steering the topic from the previous one.

"What?" Yeo Haru swatted Binh’s hand away.

"How old were you when you died?"

Yeo Haru pursed his lips, not wanting to answer.

"You still won’t answer me even if I’m dying?"

"Violent. Manipulator," Yeo Haru remarked before answering. "I’m 23."

Binh raised one of his brows in doubt. "Don’t fool me."

"Fine. I’m 20."

"Don’t fool me."

"What? You don’t believe me?!" Yeo Haru clicked his tongue before answering truthfully. "16."

Rayen sighed inwardly.

’Too young.’

"You’re really just a child."

"Screw off. I’m in my prime age to be an idol. You’re just too old."

’How did he die at such an age? And I thought Xu Jiji was the youngest here.’

"Hey, I’m just 18!" Binh defended.

’This guy too... No wonder they’re all so impulsive.’

"Then don’t call me a child!"

A brawl was about to happen once again. Rayen rushed to disperse the fire before it spread.

After breaking free from Yeo Haru, suddenly, Binh turned to Rayn. "Bro, I have a favor to ask."
