Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 173: The Same Person
Chapter 173: The Same Person
"Why not?"
The three Entities in the room stared wide-eyed at the woman in veil. This woman was none other than the World Immortal, whose words couldn’t be taken lightly.
Coming to his senses, the Old Man Librarian, Lib stood up from the couch, shedding his previous fanboy demeanor.
"That shouldn’t be allowed!" he protested. "Besides, these two kids have broken the rules. This show should have been cancelled in the first place. If it continues to mess with fate, it will be catastrophic!"
The MVP voting proceeded as the faces of the members of Team Seven Flowers were shown on screen, but the Entities didn’t pay attention anymore. What comes next should be the reason why they were even here in the first place.
The World Immortal faced Lib. "Should you even be saying that? You acted like you loved it earlier."
The old man’s face flushed red at the mention of it. "T-That..."
"Then what about making a bet?" the woman suggested.
Out of respect toward the elderly, she decided to not press him even further and just switched the topic. The old man’s face immediately returned to being taciturn.
’Really a two-faced old man.’
"A bet?" Lib asked as he stroked his beard.
"Yes."
"No, I dare not... Someone of your stature shouldn’t even suggest such a frivolous thing like that."
The woman laughed. "C’mon, Lib. Don’t be so old-fashioned. That’s why you don’t get along with Plotter."
Lib snorted. "This kid is just too obnoxious to my liking."
’Old geezer.’
"As an Overseer, they should have been protecting fate. But here they were, creating an obnoxious show and sowing discord among the lower Entities. Their show should have never taken place. I would never agree to it."
’Then why did you act like you enjoyed it?’
Plotter couldn’t help but complain in his mind. He knew it was better not to act up right now — since the Director’s sharp glare was already on him, absolutely telling him to remain silent.
Plotter shuddered inwardly and averted his gaze.
Among the people in here, he was the youngest, and therefore, also the weakest in terms of authority. They have come today for a request with the World Immortal, not expecting this Old Geezer to be here too.
Plotter pouted his lips in dissatisfaction.
Suddenly, the Old Geezer glared in his direction. "And I know you’ve been taking some of the books in my library."
Plotter flinched, a bead of sweat forming in his back. His eyes peeked at the World Immortal — not the old man who owned the books.
’Who cares about him, anyway?’
Just then, the World Immortal giggled contrary to Plotter’s imagination of her being mad. She dismissed Lib’s remark and instead pressed for her own game.
"I still want to make a bet with you."
The old man refused.
"C’mom, Lib..."
Lib continued striking his chin. Although this Old Geezer’s status was lower than the World Immortal, but as the highest ranking Overseer, his words still couldn’t be taken lightly by her.
Besides, Lib was the one who took care of her for the longest. If he refused, the World Immortal couldn’t do anything about it. Unless...
"Do you want me to cry?"
The Old Man flinched.
The World Immortal sighed. "I see..."
Tears were already forming at the corner of her eyes. When Lib saw it, a look of panic surfaced on his face.
"I-I..." he stammered.
"Pretty please?" The World Immortal flashed a puppy eye. "Please..."
"... Okay."
In the end, he couldn’t resist her. The World Immortal cheered while Lib sighed in defeat.
"What’s this bet even about?" The old man mumbled in defeat and defiance.
"Of course it’s about who’s going to end up debuting! If I guess right, you’ll support these two’s decisions."
"I couldn’t possibly agree to such a price."
"Really?" A tear formed from the corners of the Immortal’s eyes again.
"Oh, good grief. Fine."
"Yey!" The World Immortal cheered.
Lib sighed and shook his head.
"Then, who do you suppose will be able to debut?" The World Immortal asked before Lib could change his mind.
Lib faced the screen and stroked his beard. "Hmm..."
...
"If you choose me, I’ll give you flowers everyday." Adrian winked.
Rayen wanted to puke in disgust, but sensing the camera on himself, he held himself back. When it was his turn to please the audience behind their screens, he could only wave and make a peace sign.
Without any audience in sight, it felt weird just doing it with the camera. However, his experience during the elimination process helped him. In that aspect, Rayen could say he was ahead of his teammates.
Well, it wasn’t a thing that he should even be proud of.
And besides, the others on his team also knew how to appeal with the audience — especially Yeo Haru. He did every pose in the one minute that was given to him: peace sign, aegyo, heart, and even poses Rayen didn’t know what to call.
This guy just loved to be in front of the camera. He was unlike Adrian, Ayumi and Iris who always exuded a natural appeal that got the camera’s attention; Yeo Haru was just forcefully tearing the camera away from the others to look at him.
Xi Huan must have learned from this guy too. She imitated his gestures and even added a confetti in the end. Unlike Yeo Haru, she loved ending her screen moment with explosions.
The most normal out of the seven must have been only Rayen and Xu Jiji. That might explain why among the seven flowers, they were the odd two out. After all, one’s a cactus, and the other was a cauliflower.
After the MVP voting segment passed, Rayen and the others went back to their seats to watch the next performance. Adrian nudged him at his side.
"What was that peace sign? Did you get your shame back? What happened to Eureka?" Adrian chuckled.
Rayen’s face heated up in embarrassment. "Shut up."
"What’s Eureka?" Always privy to the conversation of others, Xi Huan’s head popped out in between the two.
"Oh, that—"
Before Adrian could even say anything, Rayen interrupted him.
"I told you to shut up."
Adrian laughed out loud, but obliged to Rayen’s request. Rayen sighed.
’It’s your damn fault.’
Since that night, he had been haunted by Eureka.
’Should I contact Jared to tell me the address of my grave?’
If only he could dig it up and join the original Im Ra-Yen in his resting place.
As the third performers readied on the stage, the lights in the studio dimmed once more. After a few minutes, the signal for the start of the third performance commenced.
"One, two, one, two, three..."
Someone counted in a melodious tone.
When the lights came back, they were greeted by party poppers that simultaneously exploded.
"Dance with me~"
There was a sudden shift in the atmosphere. The excitement and intensity of the performances earlier seemed to have dissipated slightly.
In Rayen’s vision, he saw floral shirts and dresses. Then party hats...
A particular party hat caught Rayen’s attention. Instead of being worn on the head, this one was deliberately worn on the chin.
’What the hell is this guy doing?’
This silly-looking person stepped forward from the group and started the song.
Liam.
"Are you ready to dance?!"
He wore a bright smile on his face, a rare scene since they died and joined this show.
"Is this even the same person?" Adrian asked, but Rayen’s attention was entirely caught by Liam’s stage presence.
"Hmm..." he responded. "That’s the same person..."
