Chapter 152: Scouting Performance
’Steal the parts? Again?’
Rayen couldn’t help but wonder if Plotter was already running out of ideas for the show. Didn’t they just do that on the first floor?
"Of course, this wouldn’t be the same as the first floor!" Plotter defended as if he knew what was on Rayen’s mind.
’Alright. Alright.’
"Oh, I forgot," Plotter suddenly exclaimed.
The participants were puzzled. What did he forget?
"I don’t want to repeat everything again. Wait for a moment."
With that, Plotter raised his hand and snapped his fingers. In a blink of an eye, five figures appeared out of thin air, plunging to the ground.
They groaned and looked around, confusion written on their faces. Binh in particular, glanced around and met Rayen’s eyes as he stood up.
"Welcome, welcome. You’re currently on the fifth floor. You’ve been given a chance~" Plotter greeted the newcomers.
Then, he shifted his gaze back to the participants that were first present here.
"You have five days to practice and own your parts. Then at the interim evaluation, the others will have the chance to steal your parts during the interim evaluation."
Hearing those words, the newcomers’ eyes shone with hope. This was a chance to participate in the private broadcast!
If only they knew this wasn’t a chance at all... They were at a disadvantage to begin with. If they couldn’t grasp this last straw, they wouldn’t be able to perform in the third round either.
Plotter continued, "Take note. This stealing isn’t only for those who have no parts! It’s also open for those who aren’t satisfied with their own parts!"
The participants ceased talking, each having their own expressions on their faces. As for Rayen, he clutched his own phone.
’Ah... This is going to be a bloodbath...’
Not only did he have to worry about his team forsaking him, he also had to be careful not to get his part stolen by his own teammates who knew that his part was good. What a pain in the ass.
For him, the song he got was considered the killing part of the song. He had to defend it well, or else...
Oh, right. Only his teammates probably knew what part he got. That meant less competition from outside the group.
Phew.
But then, as though dousing him in cold water, Plotter’s next word was about that scene he least wanted to happen.
"Because not everyone knows the other songs, we will be doing a scouting performance!"
’Scouting performance?’
The mechanics were simple. They had to perform the crude version of their song right here, right now. That way, the others had information on what parts they wanted to take. They could also learn if the participants who held onto certain parts were a weak contender or not.
’Damn Plotter!’
As the loser of the fifth floor maze, the first to perform was, of course, Team Seven Flowers.
Really a pain in the ass.
As expected, with only a few hours of practice, their performance was a mess. Rayen and Ayumi made a lot of mistakes.
Rayen wanted to hide in embarrassment.
Thankfully, Xu Jiji topped it all with his dance performance. Even if his voice was on the average side, his charisma alone was enough to compensate for it.
The sharp gazes weighting on Rayen seemed to be alleviated when the kid stepped onto his center stage. He saw some participants already giving up on taking his part just watching him.
Not only Xu Jiji, but his other teammates also had their own charms. Adrian and Iris both have an irresistible charm. Yeo Haru was good at dancing too — not as good as Xu Jiji, but his vocal skills balanced it out.
Perhaps Rayen and Ayumi were the only choreography holes in this performance. Rayen could still compensate for his shitty dancing skills with his godly singing skills. But Ayumi... Honestly, besides her beauty, her performance wasn’t anything at all.
On the other hand, Xi Huan... At the end of the performance, a confetti of red roses exploded above him that made the participants spare him a few glances. He wasn’t as exceptional as the others, but he had the skills, plus his showy and surprising plays during the moments when someone least expected it.
When the performance ended, Rayen felt his cheeks heating up.
’Could I really defend my part? It seems like I have to advance my dancing skills again...’
It was hard to keep up when almost all of his teammates have a B rank and above skills in dancing.
The only consolation for Rayen was the other teams weren’t that much different than theirs.
With Minho missing on Team IFY, their performance was a wreck. Ara eyed the empty space in their formation with a sharp gaze. If only Minho was here, and if only looks could kill, he would be double-dead by now.
’I wonder if he’s already fine...’
Rayen continued watching the last group to perform. Mr. Big News towered over the other members in his group. Ren, with his thick eyeliner, followed behind him.
Rayen suddenly thought of an idea.
’Should I steal his parts?’
He stared at Ren, delivering his intention, but the guy didn’t even look at him.
Of course, Rayen wouldn’t follow up with his idea. That was if Ren’s part wasn’t better than his own part.
Rayen had confidence he could snatch Ren’s part from him since this time, they would compete using their abilities and not Memorial Coins.
It wasn’t just bragging, but the truth. Rayen knew he was better at singing than Ren.
And their song was some R&B. Surely, the dance steps wouldn’t be too hard for a relatively smooth song.
’Heh. Let’s see first.’
The song of Team Grit finally played. A whistle echoed throughout the entire studio, filling every space. Just the intro alone was already catchy.
However, as the song continued, Rayen couldn’t help but feel conflicted. He silently walked beside Xu Jiji and covered his ears.
’Kids shouldn’t hear this...’
Whoever made this song... That person was so gutsy. Rayen recalled, during the first round, Xu Jiji also had a borderline inappropriate song, and they were able to resolve it by changing the lyrics, but this...
’Should this really be appropriate to be shown on public TV?’
The lyrics were a bit too spicy...
They have minor viewers! Rayen saw some students come to watch the show before.
After the performance, Rayen finally let go of Xu Jiji, who only looked at him with a puzzled gaze. Rayen chuckled and stepped back, but Xu Jiji didn’t say anything at all. After all, he still heard the first part of the song.
With the conclusion of the scouting performance, the participants have to decide and learn the parts they want to keep or steal and practice it.
Then five days later... Another war would break out.
