Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 145: Him Again?
Chapter 145: Him Again?
Sigh.
Sophie slumped her back on her office chair tiredly. She had gotten an early break from work, which she had gladly accepted. It’s an early break! Who wouldn’t want that?
As she cooled down her head from the seemingly endless work, she grabbed her phone to look for something.
"Hehe, what should I do now?"
Looking at the clock on the wall, it was still early for the livestream of Idol:Revive on EntiTube. There was no point in staying in the broadcast that would only show a "Please wait" message.
However, out of habit, her fingers still tapped on EntiTube. Dozens of videos appeared on her screen, with the private broadcast at the top.
But with nothing to do, she decided to just scroll down to wait for the resume of the show. There was still 15 minutes left.
A clip of Idol:Re caught Sophie’s attention. It wasn’t from the main channel; perhaps just a fan-made video. She just thought it might be interesting as she saw the familiar redhead on the thumbnail.
As long as Rayen was on any video, she was going to watch it.
The video was a shot inside the cafeteria. Ambient noises from the video filled Sophie’s office as she watched Rayen and three others together at one table, eating.
’Look at his appetite!’
Little did she know that Rayen had a huge appetite. His plate contained so much food, it was almost overflowing. Even though his back was facing the camera, it could be seen just how eager he was to eat.
Suddenly, Sophie realized something. She frowned.
The angle... The raw audio...
’This doesn’t seem like a fan-made edit...’
No. It seemed like it wasn’t even edited at all.
Usually, fan-made edits would at most include clips from past episodes then layered with funny sounds and effects. Yet this one... It was just simple as though it was screaming, "Come and watch me. Completely authentic, I’m not edited!"
As she continued to watch intently, she finally recognized the others together with Rayen. They were his former teammates during the first round.
"Brother, you should have been the leader," Binh said.
"You were good at teaching and taking care of us than Yeo Harry," Renjiro added.
Meanwhile, the last one of the trio also nodded along after correcting the mispronunciation of the name. Because of the angle of the camera, Sophie couldn’t see what Rayen’s reaction was.
Stopping right after Minho’s act of agreeing, the video player went dark, suggesting another one. The video had lasted no more than one minute, but Sophie knew... even a one-minute video could end a lifetime’s career fatally.
With cold sweat trickling down her back, Sophie went ahead and read the comments.
– What’s this? What’s this? Another leak?
– How come I’m seeing Rayen again?
– Are they badmouthing my baby Haru?
– Rayen again? I thought they cleared it up? Aren’t they close?
>> You believed that? Of course it wasn’t true.
>> LMAO. Another stupid-believe viewer. Weed Garden tricked you.
– So since the first round, Haru’s been being bullied?
– Flower Garden, if you condone bullying, I won’t watch this anymore.
– Cancel IdolRe. Don’t watch this. Don’t give money to bystanders. They let participants bully others.
– They’re just jealous since Yeo Haru is so talented.
– That clueless face wants to be the leader? He even gathered the local thugs to gang up with Haru. What a shame. One of them was even good looking.
– I voted for them. I didn’t know they had such bad attitudes. I won’t vote for them again.
>> Seconded
>> Me too
Sophie closed the comment section. The video hadn’t been uploaded for more than two hours, yet it had garnered too much attention already.
...
Rayen felt a vibration. Flinching awake, he ignored it the first time. However, the buzzing didn’t stop.
"I’m sleeping, ahhh..." Rayen grumbled and pulled out his phone in annoyance.
Incidentally, Yeo Haru did the same. He sat up from his sleeping position, a deep frown plastered on his face.
"Like hell, I’m sleeping!" he complained.
One by one, the members of Team Seven Flowers were woken up by Yeo Haru’s noise.
Rayen glanced briefly at him, then turned back to his phone. Mini Plotter’s face was aggrieved, a text bubble hovering above his head. The moment Rayen’s eyes read the words, his frown deepened even more.
"What’s happening? Why do you want me to go down?" he asked in a hush voice, puzzled.
However, Mini Plotter didn’t say anything more and instead disappeared from his screen. Rayen looked up and saw Yeo Haru glancing his way.
"Were you also asked to go down?" Rayen asked him.
Yeo Haru nodded, yawning. "Let’s go together, brother."
When the two stood up, three more others shot up from their seats too. Rayen scanned them with his eyes.
’They too?’
Among the three people were Minho and Renjiro. Both were his former teammates from the first round, just like Yeo Haru.
’Is this about the first round incident again?’
The last one of the three though, was completely unrelated to Rayen.
Rayen stared at the last person and asked, "You’re also going down?"
Adrian responded, "Hmm? Is there something wrong?"
If Rayen was correct about his hypothesis, shouldn’t it be Liam that was called instead of Adrian? Oblivious to what was happening, Liam met Rayen’s eyes.
"Nothing."
With a frown, Rayen looked at the time. There were only fifteen minutes left before 12 noon and the start of the filming.
"What’s the matter, my roommate? Let’s hurry," Adrian said and went ahead of them.
Rayen followed despite his confusion. Using the elevator, the five people went down to the first floor lobby. There, they once again met the other four participants that were left behind, loitering about the entire floor.
As they got noticed by the participants, the buzzing began.
"Did they fail too?"
"What are they doing here?"
’I also want to know...’
Just as Rayen was wondering why they were called down here, a figure suddenly appeared in thin air before them. Tumbling down the floor, Binh’s face was flushed as he heaved for air.
A staff member approached them, ignoring Binh. "Please follow me to the office."
After he said that, the staff member went off ahead, not bothering if they followed him or not. Rayen and the others glanced at each other. Binh also looked up to see his friends puzzled about the situation.
"What..." He heaved. "...what the hell is happening? Hik."
"Bro, cool down first before speaking. You look like shit."
Renjiro nodded along with Minho’s words.
’Even this guy is here. So why did Adrian replace Liam?’
Rayen looked at his writer roommate. He only shrugged, clueless about the situation as well.
"Let’s go?" Adrian asked.
Minho and Renjiro assisted Binh to stand up. As Adrian trotted behind the staff member, the rest followed along. They arrived at the door leading to the office where the staff member and Adrian waited.
The staff member opened the door. "Please go directly to the meeting room."
’Meeting room?’
"You aren’t going with us?"
"No, please go ahead. I still have work to do."
With that, the staff member left, walking toward one of the cubicles in the office. Rayen observed the whole place.
Unlike before, it was beaming with life. The staff members moved about, busy on their own stations. The sound of tapping of keyboards and the voices of the people inside mixed together. But despite its liveliness, there seemed to be tension hanging in the air. No one smiled as they frantically ran around the place.
’They’re really busy, huh?’
With no one to guide them, Rayen took it upon himself on leading the group. He took them toward the place where he and Yeo Haru found the first page of World of Art.
Opening the door, the tension inside the room was even more apparent than outside. They entered one by one, sensing the gloominess that surrounded the entire room.
"You’re here." Plotter welcomed them with a strange smile.
It wasn’t a smile tinged with playfulness. Rayen even felt like Plotter was forcing himself to grin. Somehow, a foreboding sense of unease rose from Rayen’s chest.
"Is there something wrong?" Rayen asked, careful not to provoke the seemingly agitated Plotter.
Plotter chuckled. "Hehe. What do you want to hear first? The good or the bad news?"
Puzzled, Rayen responded, "What’s the good news first?"
"Okay, you see..." Plotter added a dramatic pause.
’Hurry and spill it already!’
"We already know who’s the perpetrator of the leaked audio incident."
The eyes of the people in the room lit up in excitement, especially Rayen.
"Really?"
Plotter nodded. "Yes."
"So, what’s the problem?"
Feigning a cough, Plotter answered the question. "Unfortunately, we weren’t able to catch her."
"....."
’So, why call us here?’
"That’s not the bad news though," Plotter added.
The frown in Rayen’s brow furrowed even more. "Then what?"
"I can’t explain it clearly, so you’ll just have to watch it yourself."
With Plotter’s words, Rayen and the others approached him. Behind Plotter, a computer monitor was playing a video of four people sitting on one of the cafeteria tables.
Rayen immediately recognized himself as the one with the red hair facing away from the camera. Then he also saw Binh, Minho and Renjiro.
"This was leaked before we apprehended the culprit," Plotter explained.
’Leaked? Again? What is this even about?’
As Rayen listened in on the conversation, he finally recognized this scene. He glanced at the pale-faced trio and then toward Yeo Haru, who remained straight-faced while watching.
Finally, the video was finished.
"You see... this is the bad news I’m talking about."
