Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear -
Chapter 111: Save Yourself, Stupid.
Chapter 111: Save Yourself, Stupid.
In the end, Rayen couldn’t come to a decision.
He didn’t like Binh’s actions, but it didn’t meant he disliked the person. In truth, during the first round, the two had grown quite close — even though Rayen didn’t want to admit it.
So, he couldn’t just say to Plotter that they had to clear his name in exchange to Binh’s. This didn’t concern just their public image, but also their lives.
Could he really stomach someone disappearing because he wanted to save himself?
Maybe if they weren’t past teammates, he would gladly say yes. But after teaching his little knowledge about singing to that guy, and recalling how they clung to him before their team disbanded...
And besides, why did Plotter have to ask him? Did this person consider it to be a heavy burden and decided to just throw it back to the person wholly involved in the matter?
They were the management. Rayen shouldn’t even have any input about this.
In the end, Rayen just couldn’t tell Plotter.
Plotter left without saying anything more. Rayen didn’t know what this Overseer was planning, and he didn’t want to ask anymore.
When it came to this matter, he just couldn’t help but be indecisive.
After the conversation with Plotter, Rayen no longer had to ask the AI version.
He decided to just go back to their practice room. But before he could even walk out of the dorm’s entrance, he encountered Adrian.
With only a single look, Adrian noticed his troubled expression. "What happened? Is the news true?"
Rayen stared at him with a deadpan expression. When Adrian’s worry seemed to be getting worser, Rayen tried to control his face. In the end, he could only manage a wry smile.
"I’m dead," Rayen repeated Minho’s words earlier as a joke, chuckling dryly.
"Yeah, I know," Adrian responded from his obvious words. "What will happen to you, then?"
Rayen pursed his lips. "I don’t know."
’I really don’t know.’
Noticing that Rayen was losing his cool, Adrian grabbed him by the shoulders to guide him back to the living room.
"Why don’t you tell me in detail what really happened?"
Rayen stared at him again, gradually calming down. When he could finally think a bit clearly, Rayen retold Adrian what truly happened that day. Adrian just listened without saying anything.
Finally, Rayen reached the moment when Plotter asked him that question.
Adrian leaned against the back of the couch, crossing his arms. "Isn’t the answer so simple? Save yourself, Stupid."
"But..."
"Why do you have to play buddy-buddy with someone you just met for less than a month? Do you think that guy would even ponder hard about it if he was the one that strange person asked? If it was me, I sure wouldn’t," Adrian added, his tone sharp.
’Ouch.’
"Remember, that Plotter also said so. This is survival. Save yourself. Don’t bother with anything." Adrian added another jab. "No wonder you didn’t live long. The way you think is so stressful."
’You didn’t live long yourself...’
Silently, Rayen processed Adrian’s words. If it was Binh, would he even think about it?
Rayen didn’t care anymore. His brain hurt from overthinking.
Maybe, Adrian was right. There was no need to think so much about it. Let Plotter do things his way.
Sigh.
Just as he came to that conclusion, Mini Plotter did appear on his phone screen.
"Participant Rayen, please come to the first floor lounge. The Director’s instructions, please."
’Director’s? Not Plotter?’
Suddenly, Rayen felt like the matter was even worser than he probably thought.
If it was Plotter that called for him — even though Rayen hated to admit it — he would be more at ease. But if it was the Director, the one always threatening to make him disappear...
Rayen shuddered.
"Okay..."
He stood up, leaving Adrian behind after uttering a brief thanks.
Not more than fifteen minutes later, Rayen arrived at the first floor lounge. There, he met someone unexpected sitting on one of the old-style couch.
"Yeo Haru," Rayen called, walking toward him.
Yeo Haru turned his head to the source of the voice and discovered Rayen. Just then, Director appeared from the hallway leading to the interview room, followed by some assistants.
Plotter was nowhere to be found.
Director approached the two of them, saying in her usual stoic voice, "I presume you know about the matter already without me explaining it?"
Rayen nodded. Yeo Haru’s eyes briefly glanced at Rayen before also nodding. Since he was also related to the matter, Yeo Haru had already assumed it was about this problem.
He didn’t know why the footage wasn’t released earlier, but his sponsors told him not to bother with it. However, if he were the one to decide, Yeo Haru just wanted to tell them that they should release the video.
’An innocent person was being wrongly accused because of someone. Why don’t they just do it?’ Yeo Haru thought.
Although he also lost his cool back then, he didn’t think it would affect his image that much if it was released to the public. Not as much as Binh.
This was the power of PR. He and his sponsors had done everything to make his image as good as possible. This was maybe how his cutesy expressions and camera hogging had paid off.
So, as long as he didn’t do anything excessive, the public would just dismiss it after a few talks.
Yeo Haru was also willing to taint his reputation just a little bit because Rayen was someone he highly thought of.
"Let’s go to the interview room, then," Director said before walking off on her own.
The entourage of staff members followed her in silence. Yeo Haru and Rayen also followed suit. Soon, they entered the familiar stark white, almost empty interview room.
As usual, cameras surrounded the coffee table, but now, there were two stools inside.
Finally, the Director faced them and annouced why they were summoned here. "How about we do a livestream to try to clear up the matter? Are the two of you willing?"
Rayen and Yeo Haru blinked.
’A livestream?’
