Chapter 40: The Dark Instructor Winhest
Arc 2, Chapter 40 — The Dark Instructor Winhest.
.
.
What a lovely day it turned out to be—If you were some unbothered instructor.
It was barely 4 minutes since ’lectures’ began. Yet, Instructor Winhest already had them on their feet... literally.
One might think they were joking, but it’s exactly 4 minutes since Winhest began teaching.
Levon, Shugo, Artilla, and many others rose from their seats.
Suddenly, they paused, feeling strange variations grow underneath his feet.
In a flash, everyone plunged higher, jumping on seats and desks as fast as they could.
Some did several front flips, and others maneuvered in familiar poses as they rushed to get down to ground flooring.
Well, they had to admit it was thrilling. As they say, wasn’t it fun to live on the edge?
Fufufufufu~
Trying to kill them so soon?
Each and every character in the space had sardonic smiles when standing lazily before the many auditorium seats that kept vanishing before their eyes.
However, not everyone turned out fortunate.
"AHHH~.... Son of A Fish!"
Those too slow to react, had their legs caught and probably fractured too.
Yet Winhest, their instructor, stood calm and unhurried, despite the gory scene presented.
There were no reactions from others, prompting the injured to save themselves.
This was no ordinary classroom—In under 3 seconds, the auditorium’s seats and tables vanished, folding into the walls with precision.
Even with the auditorium’s seats, the room he was in felt grand. So imagine it now without any seats and tables?
Levon looked around and felt it was quite enormous. However, it was this same vastness that echoed potential dangers.
What now?
Brmmm~
A mechanical hum drew the group’s attention to the massive double-sided metal gate slowly opening.
Looking into the open space, all they could see was darkness...Darkness looming beyond.
The majority of the group looked relaxed and unfazed, some looking bored, despite their violently beating hearts.
Where does it lead to? The darkness?
Winhest moved between them, his hands behind his pockets and his lips ticked in a sly manner.
Yimu followed along, inspecting her nails that no longer had shine to them.
Her nail polish was chipre, and she looked at her nails in disdain. "When do I get a fresh supply?"
"ZZZzzzzz~" Florian followed next, sleepwalking the entire way.
"Tch." Rita chewed on the toothpick in her mouth.
"How fascinating," Hendrix closed his book and pushed his glasses in, walking beside Payne Ignier, the Macho man.
"Oh?" Victorio let out a chuckle, walking in with his companions. However, he still paused, giving Levon a spine-chilling smile.
What’s up with this guy?
Several others also moved in packs.
"Well, then, shall we?" Shugo munched on a few snacks, asking the obvious.
"Brother Levy, let’s go."
"Hmmm."
As Artilla and Shugo walked forth, Levon took a moment to stare at the scene before him—-one filled with the backs of Winhest leading many potential strong men and women marching into the Dark Abyss ahead.
Then, a faint curve appeared on his lips.
’Feels just like home... My kind of Home.’
.
.
It’s a good day to feel alive.
Walking along the seamlessly endless path, the steady and unhurried footsteps of the group was all anyone could hear.
Although it was pitch black, they felt the space they entered should also be unnaturally spacious.
Soon, Winhest paused. The next thing everyone knew, there was light.
Sparks ignited when Winhest’s peculiar paper scraped the rocky walls, lighting torches along the path.
~Whoosh!
Countless torches on the sides lit up one by one.
Levon was taken aback. ’A Mining railway site?’
The cave that was anything but narrow, had 4 Railway tracks running parallel to each other.
Again, many had to ask—From the examinations to everything they’ve seen, how massive was this place? And where exactly was it located on the map?
Winhest didn’t give them another second to think.
"A word of advice, hold on tight."
Eh? Hold on tight?
Levon frowned, slowly giving the floor around him another look.
’I see it!’
Right underneath their feet, he and everyone else stood on an enormous disc.
There were over 150-something of them, yet they could spaciously stand within the metal disc.
This alone showed just how unnaturally wide and spacious this place was.
’He said to hold on tight. But hold on to what?’
This question popped in everyone’s mind.
Fortunately, their bodies reacted faster than their thoughts. And then–
Boom!
They now found themselves falling several floors underground.
This is CRAZY!
Levon grabbed onto a part of the track, flaring upwards against the upward force slowly prying his fingers away.
Artilla also struggled, as did everyone else.
Even the strongest among them, was frowning sternly. Yet, their instructor stood still without holding onto anything. .
It was as though his body was completely glued to the falling metal disc.
.
.
Everyone felt like ants holding onto the surface of a falling coin.
Whoop-whoop-whoop-whoop~
The coin-like surface was constantly twisting, twirling, and flipping in mid-air as they fell.
"Buddy, were you ever good at Physics?"
"Sort of."
"What about you, Arty?"
"A little..."
Levon and Artilla replied to Shugo in a yell.
Well, it was darn hard to hear anything with all the airflow around their ears.
They can’t keep falling without a plan.
"Our major issue is Gravity and Mass." Artilla stated. "The large mass of the disc works alongside gravity to accelerate our fall."
"Yeah. In the end, Air Resistance might be the only thing helping us," Levon added, with his hair now flying sideways.
Everyone was now sideways, as the coin continued rotating.
It was a fact that the disc’s massive size was quickly increasing Air resistance, which can slow their fall, making it more manageable.
However—
Levon paused in his thoughts, switching hand movements rapidly. Now, they were under the coin.
Sometimes he was dangling unearth the column, holding on for his dear life, and other times, he was on top of the coin, catching his breath.
"Air resistance is a great asset to us, but it also has its cons too—Destabilization!"
In conclusion, while mid-air, it seems to help them a bit.
But when it’s time for landing, it will be a major reason why their skulls and body parts will be splattered to meaty chunks.
"Aren’t you all forgetting another matter to factor in?" A voice bellowed beside them.
It was a youngster with a game box in his pocket.
Everyone saw where the boy’s eyes focused, and instantly switched positions fast.
How could they forget?
~BOOM!
The impact shook them greatly.
"Inertia and Control," the boy spoke. "The disc’s inertia makes it difficult to control or change direction during the fall. This potentially leads to collisions with the hole’s wall." As they’ve just witnessed.
Yes, that’s right!
"There’s also Terminal Velocity," Artilla added, now finding herself on-top of the coin again.
The disc will reach terminal velocity when air resistance balances off gravity.
When this happens... Oops, here it comes again!
~BOOM
Several people moved fast on the falling surface with sharp minds.
Heh-heh-heh-heh~
’Clever little things...’
Winhest chuckled faintly, amused by the chaos all around him.
Winhest stood unshaken, as if gravity itself dared not touch him.
"My dear little students, I’m afraid the journey will soon come to an end." Winhest spoke, taking out a pocket watch. "So what’s the plan?... I mean, look at you..."
Several people were panting heavily.
"Aww, Exhausted already?" Winhest mocked, with a voice that echoed eerily through the space.
Well, as the good instructor that he was, he pointed at the ground below that was now growing closer and closer.
The bottom was lit up, as if to make them aware of the dangers ahead.
Survive or Splatter?
Winhest’s words hung in the air like a death sentence.
"My dearest pupils, with your end drawing near... what will you do now?"
