Arc 2, Chapter 38 - Welcome to B.E.A

With Levon dressed up, Villeta calmly led him out.
Levon followed, leaving the massive oval shaped space, into a hallway with floor-to-ceiling glass walls.
This...
Levon paused, feeling his breath caught in his throat. It was incredible!
Villeta chuckled. "The Colony, that’s what we call it."
It was an intricate layout of countless floors that went down for as far as the eyes could see. Above, there were also similar structures.
Honestly, it once again made Levon feel as though he was an ant in an actual ant colony.
Levon dared to say it went 300 floors up and down, and was also incredibly wide too.
Soon, Levon’s thoughts spun deeper. "Segregation?"
Villeta puffed out a thick whiff of smoke thoughtfully. ’In our world, segregation is inevitable.’
Perks and privileges, and other advantages, must be given when one proves himself/herself worthy.
Villeta paused, throwing her head behind her shoulders. "Hopefully, you’re not one of those who believes in that bullshit principle of equality."
"Pain is temporary; failure is forever. The word equality... Is an excuse for those who can’t make a WIN."
Underneath her icy stare, Levon didn’t flinch.
Equality?
Levon couldn’t agree more.
Truthfully, he would be insulted, if he found out he was treated the same way as those who failed, or those who didn’t even opt to fight during the last examination.
Walking past the incredulous Medical Colony, Levon had to admit that the organization behind Villeta was quite rich.
Not long after, they boarded a wall-less elevator that took them to the top. .
The elevator had no walls, only a single bar running vertically on all sides.
Without haste, Levon held the bar, lest he gets thrown off.
As for Villeta, she stood still like a rock, regardless of the incredulous speed the elevator was traveling.
It was crazy that she didn’t even hold onto any bars.
Just how does she manage to keep her heels connected to the elevator’s floor like that?
She had one hand in her lab coat’s pockets, and another still casually holding her cigarette.
There was even a hint of boredom in her eyes, unfazed by the pressure the elevator gave.
But then again—
’It’s to be expected from people to hunt...’ Levon paused in his thoughts.
Are those things really what he thought they were? Or were they mutations who also have delusional fantasies about their existences?
Levon was a thorough person.
So despite the enemy telling him what it was during the battle, Levon had felt the need to make sure.
"Those things..."
"Vampires, you mean?"
"Hmm." While hanging on for his dear life, Levon still felt the need to resolve his curiosity. "Where did they come from?"
Puffing out another whiff of smoke, Villeta’s looked upwards to the surface that was fast approaching. "Just think of them as monsters who crawled out from the pits of hell."
"So Hell’s real?"
"More or less..." Villeta stated. "The son of God, as many of you call him, was the most powerful Vampire Hunter in his time."
~Whoosh!
The elevator came to an abrupt stop, causing Levon’s body to jerk and fly upwards.
Luckily, he had a good grasp on the support bar.
"Keep up." Villeta’s hips swayed gently, as she exited the elevator’s enclosed space.
Then she continued:
"The Holy Book is nothing more than a made-up story, crafted to keep the general order of the world." Crafted by them, of course.
’So that’s it.’ The more Levon listened, the higher his grin rose.
From what he gathered, ages ago, there was a crack in the veil, allowing these rulers of the underworld to seep into their world.
However, there’s a saying that: Where there’s Darkness, Light can also be found.
Out of the blue, a mega bolt from the skies gave humanity a chance for survival.
Thus, the hidden society for Vampire Hunters was formed.
Who would have known that the so-called Son of God was but an ordinary man who grew to become one of the greatest vampire hunters of all time?
Then again, can such a person be considered ordinary in the first place?
.
.
30 minutes later, through an incredulous journey, Villeta paused at a narrow hallway.
"Go in."
With that, she walked off, swaying in the thick cloud of fog she created.
Though they only met briefly, Levon felt an itch for battle, despite knowing the outcome.
’What a strong aura’
If he fought her, he would definitely get his ass handed back to him infinite times. But so what?
All alone, Levon walked into the narrow L-shaped hallway with his hands in his pockets.
"BUDDY!"
Shugo was already waving his hand vigorously when seeing Levon appear below.
It only took a millisecond for Levon to understand his surroundings.
He was in a Classroom—An auditorium with several rows and columns stacked high one after another.
Doing mental calculations, he counted 152 people similar in age to him.
They didn’t sit in clusters, but were spread out in all corners of the auditorium.
Levon shrugged, ascending towards Shugo who sat 2 seats from Artilla. They kept the middle seat for him.
Levon smiled warmly... Even he didn’t know he was smiling affectionately.
As he walked up, several people only gave him a momentary side-eyed glance.
This guy is no doubt the last to arrive.
He was the only missing person all this time. So—
’Who’s he?’
Some people questioned, making a mental note of him, while others remained didn’t care.
"Why bother with such a waste?" Some mumbled.
"Agreed. We all healed and woke up days ago. So the fact that he’s waking up now, meant he was beaten blue, black, and orange during the last examination."
If he wasn’t a waste, then they didn’t know what else to call him.
So why bother making a mental note of such a guy who is likely to pull down those who get close to him?
Already, they felt disgusted just being in the same room with him.
They felt he was a virus, contaminating their perfect atmosphere—A place where the STRONG gathered.
In under a millisecond, the air became brittle enough to snap into 2.
"Buddy, I knew you’d make it!"
Shugo seemed oblivious to the choking atmosphere, snacking away while calling out to Levon passionately.
Artilla nodded her head obediently, agreeing that she had faith in him too.
Taking a seat, Levon leaned back lazily. "I hear I’ve been out cold for quite some time?"
Shugo and Artilla’s eyes sparkled in understanding.
"Buddy, did you know that because of you, we were all told to sleep in a cramped space these past few days?"
"Oh?"
"Well," Shugo scratched his chin mischievously. "I wouldn’t say it’s because of you."
It’s because they hadn’t started classes yet. They were informed that only after their first class, will their titles be upgraded from Examinees to Students.
In fact, they were supposed to have their first class a while back, but their instructor was called on an emergent situation that lasted for days.
Today is actually the day they begin their first lecture. Levon was just lucky to be awake now.
Had the instructor not been called back earlier, they would have long begun, leaving Levon catching up on his own.
Levon frowned. "What’s with the number?"
This number was several times more than the number of people announced after passing.
"They’re from different testing grounds." Artilla educated. She and Shugo listened to many conversations, concluding so.
It had other temporary testing grounds.
JUST THEN, the door opened, and in came an unfamiliar figure.
"Well now, I’m sure you all have had a good rest." The peculiar youth spoke with effortless authority.
Reaching what seemed to be a teacher’s desk, the youth casually turned to the masses, his tongue dampening his lips in a playful manner.
"I guess congratulations are in order for making it this far. So welcome, everyone, to B.E.A—Blood Extermination Academy."
