I Will Create a Good Ending for the Yandere Villainess -
Chapter 242 - 242: Acceptance?
"If I recall correctly, you're still at the 2nd Tier."
Veronica stared at her, blinking in confusion.
"Ascension...?"
Lillian's mother leaned the side of her face into her palm, staring at the tall woman with a hint of puzzlement. However, her eyes soon widened slightly in realisation.
"Ah... the Trials... you guys and your modern terms." She waved her hand, chuckling, "Back then, we used to call them Evolutions. But I suppose this term makes the most sense with the past recent years of information we uncovered."
"Recent information?"
Lillian tilted her head, garnering stares from both her mother and Marionette.
The Assassin nodded, "In recent articles, mages who had escaped from their Trials had uncovered information of people ascending to godhood, which was where they changed the old term to the newer one."
"Oh, right."
Lillian glanced towards her mother, finding her nodding her head. Then, she heard her speak:
"The reason why I never went inside another Gate is because I found out it wasn't for me." She giggled, "Like everyone, I too wanted to become strong."
She then shook her head in disappointment.
"However, I found that life on the frontlines wasn't for me. Too many variables that may lead me to lose my life. So, I turned to a life of researching as a way to help humanity instead."
Marionette tilted her head, keeping her arms folded.
"Was this after or before you entered another Trial to reach the 2nd Tier."
"After. Well, it was before." Veronica tapped her right cheek with her right finger, thinking.
"I believe I only entered the 2nd Tier to just be able to use Mana more effectively."
After saying this, she held up her hand, gripping the air as a translucent scalpel manifested.
"Makes it much more easier."
"Oh. I see."
Seeing that Marionette understood her reasoning, she dissipated the mana-constructed scalpel.
Then, she walked behind Lillian, placing her hands on the girl's shoulder.
"Fortunately, after turning my life towards research, I met my husband and eventually had this little girl of mine—"
"I ain't little!" Lillian interjected.
"You're smaller than us, Lillian." Marionette chimed, causing the girl to pout and turn away from her.
The Assassin smiled teasingly before shifting her attention back to the girl's mother and nodding in a grateful manner, "And I thank you for that. Without you, I wouldn't have Lillian either."
Lillian's face adopted a bashful expression as her ears perked at the woman's words. Then, she felt her mother's grip on her shoulders tighten as she heard her whisper into her ears:
"You better marry this lady, Lillian."
"W-wha!?" Lillian shouted, baffled by what her mother just told her.
Before she could ask why her mother said that, she listened as the woman asked the Assassin something.
"Oh, by the way, Marionette. May I ask what your family name is?"
Marionette stared at her with a slight pause before nodding:
"Roselle."
"Ah..."
As though glass shattered in the distance, Veronica's expression froze.
"And... your middle name?"
"Von."
"A-ah... Marionette of Roses..."
Veronica creakingly turned her face down to face Lillian, who had a crooked expression. The girl avoided her mother's piercing gaze.
"Y-... you're especially bold... Lillian. You're aware of their family's line of work, right?"
"Bah! I don't care. I only care about the woman in front of me." She declared, ignorant of the bashful expression that had spread across the Assassin's face.
Marionette turned her face to the side, hiding the lower half of her face and her blush behind her hand, smiling shakily.
Eventually, she turned her face back, lowered her hand and asked Lillian's mother:
"Do you still find me fit to be with your daughter?" She asked, slightly hopeful. But then, her expression froze once she spoke her question.
What would happen if Lillian's mother said no?
She stared at the woman's face, which adopted a pondering expression. She was anxious now. The feeling of her heart being gripped by her impatience made it suddenly difficult for her to breathe.
And soon enough... She got her answer.
Veronica sighed, "Keep my daughter safe and keep on loving her. That's all I ask."
She then reached around Lillian's head, pinching her cheek in between her thumb and the side of her index finger.
Lillian yelped.
"W-what are you doing, Mom!?"
She thrashed gently, causing the woman to giggle at her childish behaviour and let go.
She separated from the girl and then clapped her hands with a cheery expression, gesturing towards the television hung on the wall.
"Well, then, how about we all watch the edited recording that they made of Lillian's match?"
Lillian, having escaped her mother's clutches, stumbled to Marionette's side. She looked back and tilted her head at her mother, puzzled by what she meant.
Her face then adopted a deadpan expression as she remembered that her match was indeed being recorded.
In the game, it would highlight your best moments to a tee, allowing for entertaining replay as well as being used for interactions with the characters in the game.
She smiled and leapt towards the couch, landing on her chest.
After reaching for the remote, she twisted around and laid on her side. She supported the side of her head with her hand and began fiddling with the TV.
Once she got the right channel on, she sat properly on the couch, patting the spots beside her for the two ladies to come and sit.
Her mother went over and sat, but Marionette didn't.
She gave her a curious look, finding her smiling.
"I'll go wash up. Do begin first without me."
Lillian nodded firmly, turning her attention towards the TV. But that was after she paused at what Marionette added:
"Unless you wish to join me in the showers, Lillian. That'll do as well."
"M-Mari! My mother is right here!"
Lillian widened her eyes, her face shaking from embarrassment as she watched both her mother and the Assassin laugh at her expression.
Marionette, chuckling into the side of her hand, muttered:
"I was merely joking. We can do that another time, if you please, though."
"J-just go and wash up already!"
With a bright red face, she watched as the Assassin left her and her mother alone in the living room.
The sounds of the woman's soft chuckle soon disappeared, but not the one beside her, which was coming from her mother.
Veronica, staring at Lillian's face, continued to laugh:
"You two have such an entertaining relationship~!"
Lillian pouted, folding her arms as she faced away from her.
"More like a teasing relationship..."
