Chapter 413: Amusement Park

I met members of the White Snow Guild in the dungeon. Since I'd come through a wall, they mistook me for a ghost. Given this was a ghost dungeon, their confusion was understandable.

Before they could attack me, I quickly listed our shared experiences.

"We were on the same team at the Academy... and we went to a cafe together where I couldn't drink the coffee because it was too bitter..."

Yoon Hyunseo hastily lowered her staff. Han Taehwi also lowered his sword, dropping his guard.

"Gyeoul, aren't you scared of ghosts?"

I explained to the two White Snow Guild members how I ended up in the horror dungeon. I told them I thought entering a Level 2 horror dungeon with people I knew would be better than taking on a Level 3 dungeon alone.

After explaining everything, I looked up at them and asked:

"Yeah! Let's party up! I'm not scared of ghosts at all!"

Yoon Hyunseo pounded her chest. Han Taehwi gave her a blank stare.

I didn't know why he was looking at her like that. Tilting my head in confusion, I thanked them both.

A scream burst from Yoon Hyunseo's mouth. The loud noise seemed to draw aggro, as the ghost monsters moved toward her.

Yoon Hyunseo ran all around the dungeon with the ghost monsters chasing her.

Didn't she just say she wasn't scared of ghosts at all? My eyes went wide seeing her so terrified.

"Be careful. The ghosts are chasing you."

"Ahh! Stay away!"

Yoon Hyunseo wildly swung her staff at the ghosts. She was just physically swinging it rather than using magic.

Watching this, Han Taehwi let out a deep sigh.

"...Gyeoul, can you handle the ghosts?"

"Yes."

I nocked an arrow to my bow. Though special weapons or skills were needed to fight ghosts, the weapon enhanced by Gaeul from the other world made it possible.

Whoosh-

White energy rising from the bow enhanced everything needed for hunting. With this speed and power, I could probably pierce multiple ghost monsters at once.

'Let's try it.'

There were five ghosts chasing Yoon Hyunseo. When three of them lined up, I shot my arrow.

The enhanced arrow flew swiftly, piercing through three ghosts. Even after passing through them, the arrow retained enough power to embed itself in the wall behind.

"Wow."

Such destructive power from a normal arrow. I wasn't the only one impressed - after dealing with the remaining ghosts, Han Taehwi turned to look at me.

"Gyeoul, you've gotten really strong."

I'd received way too powerful a weapon. As I gripped the bow tightly with both hands, Yoon Hyunseo approached us, gasping for breath.

"Haa, haa... this is scarier than I thought... it didn't seem scary at all in movies."

Yoon Hyunseo couldn't meet my eyes. Having boasted she wasn't afraid before screaming and running away, she must have felt embarrassed.

I decided to help her feel less awkward.

"Anyone would be startled and run if ghosts chased them, right?"

"Yeah. I probably would've been screaming and running too."

When I let out my signature scream, Yoon Hyunseo gave a small laugh. Her laughter made me giggle too.

"Thanks to you though, we caught them easily. Seems ghosts are drawn to human screams."

"Yeah. Good thing I could at least be aggro. Maybe I should practice being aggro."

A mage being aggro was strange, but in the adventurer world, any skill could be useful. It was a world where anything could happen.

"Practice will come in handy someday."

"Yeah. Should we try again with defense magic?"

"Okay."

Yoon Hyunseo's magic seeped into our bodies. The warmth gave a clear sense of being protected.

Though the horror dungeon was scary, it was only Level 2. Working together, we could clear it easily.

We easily cleared all the way to the boss. Though the ghosts were scary, it was just a Level 2 dungeon. Nothing truly threatening emerged for our grown stronger selves.

"I didn't expect all the ghosts to combine into the boss."

"Yeah, but it was actually less scary when it got bigger."

"Right."

The larger target was actually easier to attack. It would've been harder if dozens of ghosts had attacked separately instead of combining.

Should we be thankful the ghosts combined? As I was mentally reviewing the boss fight, Han Taehwi handed me my share of the rewards.

"Split exactly three ways."

"Wow."

Getting paid always felt good. I thanked Han Taehwi.

"How about we go celebrate at a cafe?"

"Um... my family's waiting at home. I should head back early today."

"Ah, right. It's better for Gyeoul to get home early."

Disappointment showed on Yoon Hyunseo's face. I felt a bit disappointed too.

"Should we do another dungeon together sometime?"

"Sure. Let's party up often."

We agreed to party again in the future and waved goodbye. Thinking of the children waiting at home, I quickly walked to the park.

At the park, Levinas was chatting with her friends. Her ears were perked up, suggesting they were having an interesting conversation.

"What's an amusement park?"

"It's a park full of fun rides."

Kim Wooseong, the cutlet shop owner's son, said while opening an Animal King card pack. Levinas pointed at the pool playground.

It was a golden dog Animal King card.

"Gaeul, remember the other card I gave you earlier, not the Animal King card?"

This time Gaeul took out the proper transit card. When she tapped it on the gate, it beeped and opened.

"Wow, Gaeul did it."

We all applauded for Gaeul. For some reason, nearby subway passengers joined in clapping too.
