I Was Kidnapped By The Strongest Guild -
Chapter 306: Let Me Tell You About the Dungeon
A giant dog was chasing us.
It seemed as big as a tiger, at least to someone as small as me.
"Hurrk!"
"Nyaaah!"
The children and I screamed as we ran through the alleyways.
As we ran, I listened for signs of the dog following us, but strangely, I couldn't hear it chasing after us.
'Huh?'
When I looked back, I saw the dog poking just its face out from the gate.
It was watching us with sad eyes but didn't seem to be chasing us at all.
I had expected it to cause a ruckus like last time. Why was it so well-behaved this time?
Since it wasn't chasing us, it felt odd to keep running away, so I stopped.
"King! We can't stop!"
"Master...!"
The children pushed my back as I stood still.
Their pushing made my body slide forward.
"But look, the dog isn't chasing us anymore."
"Huh?"
The children stopped pushing me and turned to look back.
Seeming happy that we were looking at it, the dog's tail started wagging rapidly.
"Why aren't you chasing us?!" Levinas called out to the dog.
"Woof?" Gaeul mimicked Levinas's words without understanding their meaning.
Surprisingly, the dog responded to the children's question with a small bark.
"Woof woof! Woof woof!"
"Huh...!"
Gaeul nodded her head.
It seemed like she understood what the dog was saying.
Our gazes naturally turned towards Gaeul.
"Gaeul, what did it say?"
"Scolding!"
"Scolding?"
"Bad! Bad!"
Gaeul waved her hands randomly.
She was trying to make a scary face, as if scolding someone.
"Um... Is it getting scolded?"
Nod nod.
"...Does the dog get scolded if it comes outside?"
"Huh!"
Gaeul jumped up.
It seemed I had guessed correctly.
I see.
It was wandering around the park alone last time.
Maybe it got scolded by its owner for going out on its own.
It's not coming out because it got scolded.
Despite its overwhelming size, it was a good dog that listened to its owner.
That dog probably just wanted to play with us too.
I felt a bit bad for running away.
Feeling guilty, I scratched my cheek and approached the dog.
"Do you want to play with us?"
"Woof!"
The dog stuck its tongue out from behind the gate.
Since it couldn't come out, its tongue didn't actually reach me.
"We'd like to play with you too, but..."
"Woof woof!"
The dog barked loudly at the mention of playing.
I stepped back in surprise, and just then, a middle-aged woman opened the front door of the house.
"This rascal opened the gate again..."
Our eyes met, and the woman looked angry.
Instinctively, I clasped my hands in front of my chest.
"Ah, hello..."
"Oh... What's going on?"
"Well, it seems like the dog wants to play..."
I fidgeted with my fingers clasped in front of my chest.
I was a bit startled, but the children didn't seem to be.
"Can we play with your dog?!" Levinas asked excitedly.
"Play?" Gaeul echoed.
"Well, I'd appreciate it if you took him for a walk..."
The middle-aged woman came down the front steps.
As she did, she picked up what looked like a muzzle and a leash.
"Do you want to go for a walk with Leo?"
So its name was Leo.
It seemed fitting somehow.
"Yes. The dog looked bored."
"Alright, can you wait a moment?"
She put the leash on Leo's neck.
As she did, she playfully pinched Leo's cheeks.
"Leo, if you run off on your own, you'll really be in trouble, okay?"
"Woof!"
"Listen to these girls, got it?"
"Woof woof!"
Leo barked lightly.
It seemed like he was answering that he understood.
"What if Leo doesn't listen to us?" I asked uncertainly.
"Don't worry. He's a bit simple and strong, but he's obedient and gentle."
"Um... okay."
Indeed, while he was intimidating due to his size and energy, he wasn't a bad dog.
I had a feeling nothing bad would happen if we went for a walk together.
"Then we'll be back in about an hour."
"Alright, I'll give you my phone number. Call me if anything happens."
"Okay."
I took Leo's leash and left the yard.
At that point, Levinas started giggling.
"We're going to reclaim Levinas's castle!"
"Are we going to scare him with Leo?"
"Yeah! But what if he gets too scared?"
"Hmm... It'll probably be fine. He's not that scary, right?"
"You're right! He's just a little scary, so it'll be okay!"
We were supposed to be scaring him, but being just a little scary didn't seem right.
Well, this was just for fun anyway.
I decided to go along with it.
"Shall we go then?"
"Yeah!"
Just as Levinas was shaking her clenched fists up and down with sparkling eyes, Saebyeok suddenly lifted me up.
"Oh, um...?"
Saebyeok sat me on top of Leo.
Leo seemed happy that I was riding him, wagging his tail quickly.
Wasn't it hard for him with me on top?
I was worried, but Leo walked along without any trouble.
'Wow.'
As I had noticed before, Leo was really strong.
Though I suppose I'm quite light too.
Thinking about various things, I returned to the park.
It was time to start our operation to reclaim the tent.
**
Jeffrey, who had stayed behind in the tent, was drinking tea by himself.
He had no idea where or how this tea had been obtained.
As Jeffrey sat with his arms crossed, thinking, he sensed the children approaching him.
"You evil villain!"
"Hmm..."
His thinking stopped for a moment.
For now, he needed to play with the children.
Jeffrey pushed away his furrowed brow and tried to put on an evil smile.
"Muaha...ha?"
As he stepped out of the tent, he saw Gyeoul riding on top of a dog.
Her tail was wagging at the same speed as the dog's.
What on earth?
Jeffrey blinked, his laughter trailing off.
"Hey, evil villain! Look, we brought a scary dog!"
"Huh."
He could see the dog's tongue peeking out from behind the muzzle.
Jeffrey could tell that this was quite a gentle dog.
"It's a very very scary dog, but if you give us back the castle, the scary dog will go away!"
"...And what if I don't give it back?!"
Was the dog going to bite him as a threat?
Jeffrey imagined the horrifying scenario of being bitten, but Levinas's threat was completely different.
"The dog will lick your face!"
"...Not bite?"
"B-biting would be too scary..."
So they couldn't do biting because it was too scary?
These children were really innocent.
But from Jeffrey's perspective, being licked was worse than being bitten.
Being licked would leave sticky saliva all over him.
"Ugh, then I have no choice but to surrender..."
"Wha! You're surrendering?!"
"I surrender. Being licked is too scary."
"...We wouldn't have really licked you if you were too scared! Don't be so afraid!"
Levinas, who had been hesitating, cautiously entered the tent.
Realizing that Jeffrey wasn't putting up any resistance, she puffed out her chest.
"Now the bad villain is a good villain!"
"Gaeul?"
"Yeah! As good as Gaeul!"
"Huh!"
Gaeul wagged her tail and ran around inside the tent.
She was happy to be called good.
'These children are quite innocent.'
Is it because they're beast-kin?
It was a kind of innocence that made one's heart feel at ease.
As Jeffrey was smiling warmly, Gyeoul tugged on his clothes.
"Jeffrey, hey."
"Hmm?"
"Want to go to a dungeon with us tomorrow?"
"A dungeon...?"
"Our Mast— I mean, the Master told me to teach you about dungeons, right?"
It seemed she had taken his joking words seriously.
Well, there was no harm in getting closer to the Yeomyeong children.
Jeffrey nodded in agreement.
"Very well."
And so, Jeffrey was able to become closer to the children by playing with them.
Although Jeffrey had come with his own agenda, he set it aside for now in the face of the children's innocence.
He didn't want to show his greed in front of these untainted children.
**
The next day.
I went to the dungeon with Jeffrey.
It was the goblin dungeon that I frequently used.
Kim Min-jun, the dungeon management civil servant, was near the dungeon portal.
Since we had become somewhat friendly, I approached him without hesitation.
"Mister."
"Oh, Gyeoul, you're here?"
"Yes. Can I enter the dungeon?"
I stood on my tiptoes to place the entry application form on the desk.
When Mr. Kim saw my application, his eyes widened.
"You're going in with two people today?"
"Yes. I promised to teach about the dungeon."
"Wow, Gyeoul, you've already reached that level?"
"Hehe. I think I can teach up to level one dungeons."
"That's amazing."
As he skimmed through the application form, he stared intently at the name field.
I didn't understand why he was looking at the name for so long.
"Jeffrey Wilson...?"
"Yes. He's American, he says."
"...Could it be a coincidence?"
As he was muttering to himself, Jeffrey approached us from afar.
"Are we not there yet?"
Jeffrey, who had just returned from the bathroom, casually wiped his wet hands on his clothes.
Seeing Jeffrey's casual demeanor, Mr. Kim froze.
"Je-Jeffrey...?"
"Do you know me?"
"How could I not... Wait, Gyeoul, was Jeffrey the one you said you were going to teach about dungeons?"
Mr. Kim turned to me with an astonished look.
I couldn't understand why he was acting like this, so I could only feel confused.
"Yes, that's right. Is Jeffrey famous?"
"Well..."
Mr. Kim looked at Jeffrey.
The two seemed to have a silent conversation with their eyes, and after a while, Mr. Kim spoke again.
"He's famous for being strong, but he probably doesn't know much about dungeons. Gyeoul, teach him well."
"Okay."
He's saying the exact same thing as our Master.
It seemed certain that he really didn't know about dungeons.
I'd have to teach him well.
Wagging my tail, I entered the dungeon with Jeffrey.
