I Was Kidnapped By The Strongest Guild -
Chapter 152: Causing Misunderstandings
A beast-kin child came to the pet store to buy cat food.
Kim Mina couldn't help but be startled as she looked at the child.
'Did they say her name was Gyeoul...?'
She was known in the neighborhood as a lovely child.
Kim Mina had seen her a few times while passing through the park.
She used to catch and eat fish from the pond.
As a cat beast-kin, her taste might be similar to that of a cat.
Maybe she could really eat cat food like a real cat.
Do cat beast-kins really eat cat food?
What if she's eating it without knowing she shouldn't?She wanted to ask directly if she would eat it herself, but she couldn't do that.
It could seem a little racist.
Asking a cat beast-kin if they were eating cat food.
She might have to close the store.
She had to ask in a roundabout way.
That was the conclusion Kim Mina came to after much thought.
"So, which cat is going to eat this?"
"Which cat?"
"Yes. A kitten or an adult cat. Different cats eat different food based on their breed too."
"Hmm..."
Gyeoul thought of Seol, who was outside the store.
He was a white cat, but she didn't know the breed.
"I'm not sure about the breed. It's white..."
"If it's white..."
Kim Mina looked Gyeoul up and down.
White ears and tail, white hair and skin.
There was a high chance she was talking about herself.
"And still a kitten, but not a complete baby."
"Really?"
"Yes. Maybe around the age of a child..."
"Oh, a child."
Kim Mina looked Gyeoul up and down again.
She was a lovely child no matter how you looked at her.
A child who aroused a protective instinct and maternal love, to the point where calling her a baby wouldn't be an issue.
She was probably still treated like a baby by her family.
Even so, Gyeoul introducing herself as a child was commendable.
"Yes. To me, it seems like a child. But everyone else calls it a baby."
"Hehe, to adults, babies and children are quite similar."
It might be called nonsense, but no one would complain if Gyeoul was called a baby.
She was such a small and lovely child.
"Well... I guess that's not entirely wrong."
"Oh, really?"
Did she understand an adult's nonsense?
Usually, kids were displeased when treated like children.
She had heard Gyeoul was understanding and mature, but she hadn't expected this.
A child with a heart as beautiful as her appearance.
"Yes. Even if a child grows up a bit, they still look like a child to adults."
"Wow, you know well. To adults, a year or two passes in the blink of an eye. The child suddenly grows up. But they still look like a child."
"Everyone says that. It seems time flows quickly for adults."
"Because they have lived longer."
A child who understood an adult's situation.
She was the most mature child Kim Mina had ever seen.
She hoped her future child would be half as good as Gyeoul.
"It's strange. Sometimes a day feels long to me, and sometimes it feels short."
"Is that so?"
Hehe.
Kim Mina showed a happy smile.
It wasn't a business smile but a genuine one, the first in a few months.
Since she was still young, a day must feel long.
On joyful days, it might feel even shorter.
For a child, it was natural for a day to feel long or short.
Kim Mina didn't bother to say it out loud.
"Oh, right. The food."
Gyeoul's tail perked up as she remembered her purpose belatedly.
Kim Mina, covering her mouth as she laughed, guided Gyeoul to where the food was.
"This would be the best for children."
"Is it for children?"
"Yes. It's soft, so it's easy for kids with weak jaws to eat."
Kim Mina's gaze shifted to Gyeoul's jaw.
Unlike a developed adult's jaw, it was a small jaw.
It was probably stronger than a cat's, but there was no reason to recommend adult food.
"Is it tasty?"
"Yes. It's packed with flavor and nutrition that cats really love."
"Oh... then I'll take this one."
"Hmm..."
Would it be okay if the child ate the food herself?
She seemed mature enough, so Kim Mina decided to trust her.
Kim Mina nodded and picked up the food Gyeoul had pointed to.
"Now I want to buy a toy for the cat."
"A toy?"
"Yes. Something a cat would like."
Did she have toy preferences similar to a cat's?
Having sold the food, she decided not to worry about the toy.
"Do you have any games you personally like?"
"Hmm...? I'm not sure what it likes yet."
"Really? Don't you play often with your friends? Actually, I've seen you playing in the park a few times."
Is that so?
But why bring that up while talking about cats?
Gyeoul tilted her head in confusion.
"I do play with my friends often."
"What game do you find the most fun there?"
"Hmm...? It's not about the fun, I just enjoy doing something together."
"Ah! In that case, a stick would be great!"
Kim Mina picked up a long stick from the toy section.
If she liked doing things together, a stick toy that she could wave around would be great.
There would be someone at the end of it waving it for her.
"Oh..."
Gyeoul opened her mouth in admiration.
She wondered why Kim Mina asked about her play preferences.
She realized it was so she could enjoy playing with the cat.
It was a moment where she thought the employee was very considerate.
"Gyeoul, could you let me know how the food tastes later?"
"The food's taste...?"
"Yes. I'll give you a little of various kinds. I'd like to know which one tastes the best. Call it a professional curiosity..."
Gyeoul blinked at Kim Mina's sudden request.
It took a while to understand what she meant.
"Do you want me to taste the food myself?"
"Y-you weren't going to...?"
"No... I have a cat at home... I'd get in trouble if I ate cat food..."
Yeoreum had specifically asked her not to eat the food.
Gyeoul was determined to honor her request.
"Oh, you have a cat?"
"Yes. A small cat about this big."
"..."
So she was talking about a real cat.
Kim Mina's face turned pale as she realized the truth.
She had just told a beast-kin to eat pet food.
All she could do was bow her head in apology.

After finishing shopping, I returned to the park with the kids.
I had to sweat it out, stopping the store clerk from giving us more stuff out of guilt.
That was right.
I was a small, white cat too.
From the employee's perspective, it was an understandable mistake.
Since it was largely my fault, I kept refusing the free gifts.
"Phew."
It was exhausting.
I sat on a bench, watching the kids play.
Saebyeok and Seol chased after the stick Levinas was waving.
"Myang!"
Seol batted at the stick with his paw, while Saebyeok playfully bit at Levinas's hand holding the stick.
It didn't seem to hurt, as Levinas just giggled.
"Hmm..."
It was peaceful.
Maybe it was because the park was a place where only good things happened, but just sitting there filled me with energy.
After watching the kids play for a while, someone sat down next to me.
"Hello, Gyeoul."
"Oh, hello."
It was Yoo Sang-ah, who always exchanged mana stones.
My tail started wagging even more vigorously at the arrival of a familiar face.
Seeing my tail, she smiled and then looked down at the cat supplies on the ground.
"This is cat shampoo...?"
"Yes. I've taken in a cat."
I pointed to the kids playing near the pond.
Yoo Sang-ah was startled and gave an awkward smile.
"Th-there really is a cat!"
"Yeah... Do I look like I would use cat supplies myself?"
"Well, um..."
Yoo Sang-ah's eyes darted side to side.
She wasn't meeting my gaze.
"It's okay. The store clerk made the same mistake. She thought I was going to eat the cat food."
I had actually wondered if I could eat it, but I kept that to myself because of my promise to Yeoreum.
"I'm sure she didn't mean to be rude. It's probably just because she didn't know much about beast-kin."
"Yeah, beast-kin aren't common."
Even I didn't know much about myself.
It was natural for people who weren't beast-kin to know even less.
"You understand?"
"Yes, Sang-ah, you're kind."
"Oh my."
Her hand went to my head and gently patted it.
The soft touch felt nice.
"The clerk must have been really surprised..."
Yoo Sang-ah started to say something when her phone chimed.
Her eyes widened as she checked the message.
"News travels fast, huh?"
"What is it?"
"A post about you just went up on the guild community. I manage the community, so I keep an eye out for negative comments."
Not that there have been any negative comments.
Yoo Sang-ah showed me her phone.
The post was about what happened at the pet store.
It seemed someone who was watching had posted it, not the store clerk.
"There are a lot of comments."
"Yes, you're very popular."
"Hmm..."
Being an unusual beast-kin naturally attracted attention.
I shrugged and looked at the comments.
There were quite a few on the screen.
