Chapter 125: Chapter 125 She Doesn’t Need To Know Your Name (1)_1
The air pressure in the office... no, the entire Han Family building, was at an extreme low.
All morning, Xia Wan’an discovered a dead silence on her floor. Not a whisper could be heard let alone conversation.
What could possibly have happened to create such a terrifying atmosphere?
It wasn’t until lunchtime, when she went to the cafeteria, that Xia Wan’an couldn’t help but ask a colleague from her department.
Her colleague looked just as bewildered as her, clueless as to what had transpired.
After lunch, upon returning to the office, Xia Wan’an happened upon a few executives from the design department looking horrified as they headed to the top floor.
This perplexed Xia Wan’an even more. Sitting at her desk, she sent a message to Han Zhijin, "Young Master, has something happened at the company?"
It was unclear what Han Zhijin was busy with, he didn’t respond to her message as quickly as usual.
Xia Wan’an played aimlessly with her keyboard for a while, then seeing no reaction from Han Zhijin, she began to work.
All afternoon, the atmosphere of the entire building remained gloomy. While going to the restroom, Xia Wan’an overheard whispers that all the shareholders of the Han Family business had arrived, even the police department had shown up.
What could have happened that not only demanded every shareholder’s presence but also alarmed the police department?
Xia Wan’an’s curiosity grew. She held her phone and sent another message to Han Zhijin but he continued to ignore her. She then thought of Ai Jiang at the general manager’s office, but after just a few seconds, she dismissed the idea of asking Ai Jiang about it.
By the time off-work hours neared, Xia Wan’an thought of sending a message to Zhang Te, whom she had added on WeChat, "Assistant Zhang, what’s happening with the company?"
Like Han Zhijin, Zhang Te didn’t pay any mind to her either.
Xia Wan’an leaned against the desk, scratching the tabletop with her fingernails. Seeing that it was nearly time to clock out, she called a car to go home and sleep.
After packing up her stuff, Xia Wan’an noticed her ride was close to the office, so she turned off her computer, grabbed her bag, and walked towards the elevator.
Just as she arrived at the elevator, her phone in her pocket rang.
Xia Wan’an pulled it out to have a look, it was a call from the Han Family’s old mansion.
As many employees were waiting for the elevator around her, she chose an empty breakroom to take the call for fear anyone might overhear.
She had barely uttered "Hello?" when her grandmother’s voice came through from the other end, "An’an, are you at the company now?"
"Yes..." Xia Wan’an replied before asking, "What’s happened, grandma?"
"Did you see Jingnian today?"
How could she have seen him?
Xia Wan’an paused for a second before honestly replying, "No."
"So you didn’t see him either..." her grandmother’s voice filled with anxiety, "I have been trying to call him, but he’s not picking up. I’m not sure exactly what happened, but I know there’s trouble at the company and it’s not a small one. An’an, can you please check on him for grandma? Call me back whether something is wrong or not, otherwise I might have to go over there myself..."
Since her grandmother had expressed such concern, there was no way Xia Wan’an could refuse to check. She naturally couldn’t say ’I won’t go, you come over yourself’.
So, she calmly assented, "I know, Grandma, don’t worry, I’m about to go look for him."
After hanging up her grandmother’s call, Xia Wan’an canceled her ordered car and returned to her desk.
She pretended to work overtime, waiting until the building was practically empty before taking the elevator to the top floor.
