Chapter 124: Chapter 124: The Little Girl Has Grown up into a Lady (2)_1
"I’ll go back when I want to. If you follow me again without my permission, you know what will happen!" He Che ignored the silent Chen Cang, said what he wanted to say, put out his cigarette, and prepared to leave.
He had hardly taken a few steps when Chen Cang called out to him: "Boss..."
He Che halted but did not turn around.
Chen Cang watched his retreating figure, hesitated for a while, but eventually asked about something she had noticed the moment she saw him. "Boss, your arm is bleeding. Are you hurt? Do you need me to..."
"It’s nothing." He Che dismissed with three words and left.
Standing still, Chen Cang tightly clasped the small medicine bottle in her hand, a hint of gloom flickering in her eyes. Her boss was perfect in all aspects, except he was too naive in relationships. So naive...it could be called stupid.
A taxi happened to pass by. He Che hailed it, and once inside, he rolled up his sleeve to reveal a bite mark on his arm.
The little lass had sharp teeth... She even told him that they weren’t acquainted enough for him to say goodnight to her...
He Che chuckled. How could that be? One day, when the little lass finds out who he really is, not only would she allow him to bid her goodnight, she would even be fine if he called her An’an.
...
After sending Xia Wan’an home, Zhang Te hurried over to Han Jingnian’s side.
Having changed into loungewear, Xia Wan’an began working on her design draft. Time always flew when she was engrossed in her work. When she finally looked up, it was completely dark outside.
She put down the pen in her hand and glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already eight o’clock at night. No wonder she felt hungry.
Xia Wan’an quickly prepared a bowl of noodles. After satisfying her hunger, she jogged on the treadmill for half an hour before taking a bath.
When she stepped out of the bathroom, it was already half-past nine.
It was Saturday, and even if Han Jingnian had work, he should have finished it by now. Given that he had not returned home yet, he probably wouldn’t be coming back tonight, right?
Xia Wan’an blanked out for a moment, then sat in front of the vanity, dried her hair, applied various lotions and potions before picking up her pen and diving back into her design.
She wasn’t as focused as before and was not happy with the designs she sketched on the paper.
She started a new piece of paper and then glanced at the clock again -- it was now half-past ten.
When her phone’s sleep reminder rang, Xia Wan’an realized that while sketching, she had drifted off and written a few lines:
"I’ve always been watching you, in ways you know and don’t know."
"You always do this. You mess up my heart and my bed and then never come back."
"Why aren’t you coming home again?"
"Han Jingnian, why are you always not at home?"
"Han Jingnian, do you know, I’m really scared that one day, I’ll choose to let you go?"
Looking at the words she had written, Xia Wan’an glanced out of the window. As if annoyed with herself, she crumpled the paper and threw it away before heading to bed.
The crumpled paper hit the wall and fell into a gap behind the television stand.
On Sunday, Han Jingnian still did not return home.
On Monday, the start of a new week, Xia Wan’an got out of bed at nine like usual and left for work.
Once she arrived at the office, she had a feeling that something was off, but she wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination.
PS: Let’s make a comparison: if you want to read a novel, choose "Time and You Are Both Beautiful"; if you want to listen to a novel, choose "Time and You Are Both Beautiful"; if you want to read a comic, choose "Time and You Are Both Beautiful"~ Yes, this is a hard sell. Will you accept it or not?
