Chapter 947: Never thought I’d be this scary
"There’s a crazy woman here. A really crazy woman."
It was a strange description of the situation. However, Romnick couldn’t think of anything else to describe it. One woman controlled this chase and chaos. It was she who decided if they would chase or be chased.
It was truly a strange phenomenon.
Who was this psycho?
"Fuck!" the driver of the SUV shouted as he made a sharp turn to avoid the sedan. Compared to their vehicle, the sedan was definitely at a disadvantage. However, the sedan driver was forcing everyone to avoid it at all costs.
"I didn’t sign up for this!" the same man yelled, biting his tongue as the sedan’s rear bumped into the left side of their front. "Romnick! Let’s retreat!"
Romnick clenched his teeth. Earlier, he called for a full retreat because of Fig’s interruption. Dane agreed with his decision. However, when Romnick caught Dragon inside this sedan, they changed plans. Fig didn’t catch up, so they thought this would be an easy catch.
They were only hostile towards Fig, but not at Dragon. He was their target, after all. With Hera still with their target, they believed it was too early to call their mission a failure. But now that they were deep in this case, they realized how wrong they were.
Did Dragon have another ace up his sleeve?
Initially, they thought that was the case. But then, they saw the driver and Dragon having a confrontation inside the car while they stopped right beside their vehicle. It was easy to piece everything together.
Someone else wanted Dragon and maybe Hera.
"Calling for retreat now is impossible," Romnick breathed out calmly, looking around to see who else survived the chaotic scenario moments ago. There were still two other vehicles, adding them, they were three.
"For now, let’s take them to the city," he ordered, only to hit his shoulder against the door as their car continued to turn.
"Fuck!" the driver of the SUV cursed repeatedly, but it paled in comparison to the screeching of the tires. Their vehicle bumped into another car, driving straight off the road to avoid the sedan at all costs. "Let’s get back for now!!"
The other vehicles with them were also turning back abruptly, dodging the crazy sedan rushing through everything in sight. They followed the other SUV, driving off the road, and then turned to take the road.
Everyone had one thing in mind.
If they couldn’t get rid of the driver of the sedan, they should lose her on the chase.
Meanwhile, Hera almost crashed into an already wrecked vehicle that was hit by Dane’s people earlier. Stepping on the pedal and driving in reverse, she shifted her eyes to the cars driving off the road. A shallow scoff escaped her, turning the steering wheel without regard and following them.
"Getting away now, huh?" she mused under her breath, unfazed by the bumps and rocky plain to follow the three sedans.
In the backseat, Hera kept her eyes shut as she bounced on the rocky path they were taking. Since their vehicle was a sedan, they could feel every bump and bounce. She even hit the top of her head as she bounced up and down, left and right. But compared to Dragon, Hera’s bruises were minimal.
Dragon, who was not in any safety measure, had got it worse on top of his existing injuries. Every time he would bounce up, he would hit the side of his head. And then, he would hit his side against the window, sometimes, his face would land on the seat in front of him. It was a rough ride for him, but the chase didn’t give him plenty of time to complain or to do anything else.
"Argh..." As another piercing screech rang in their ears, Dragon ground his teeth and glared daggers at the driver’s seat. But instead of saying anything, he snapped his eyes at the windshield.
’Fuck!’ he thought, panting heavily as every part of his body ached.
Heaven’s way of driving beat him up for sure. If Dragon hadn’t initially protected Hera during the explosion, he would’ve had more strength to resist. However, he was already injured when he got in this car and his injuries grew worse with everything that had happened in here so far.
"Give me my rifle!" Dragon demanded after a minute. "We have to get rid of those two since Romnick’s car is on the front."
Heaven didn’t reply immediately. "Dying in this world is so easy. You’re not dying in other people’s hands, Dragon." She then swiftly grabbed the rifle, unbuckling her seat, and winding down her window.
Seeing this, Hera gasped as she wondered what Heaven would do now. Even Dragon had his brows furrowed, wondering what this woman was planning by unbuckling her seat. She wouldn’t drop driving and shoot, right?
Logically, during times like this, the driver in the chase should focus on keeping their target in sight while the passengers would engage in a gunfight. It wasn’t a law that a driver couldn’t fight, but their participation should be minimal.
"What are you..." Hera squealed as she bit her tongue when their car switched lanes, avoiding the bullets coming in their way. The vehicle ahead of them opened fire at them, and they had to avoid them at all costs. After all, the soul in Hera might not be an expert, but from what she could tell, the enemies were aiming at their tires.
"Should I drive?" Hera blurted out despite the striking pain in her tongue, only to catch the brief smirk from the corner of Heaven’s mouth. ’Did she find that funny? Well, thanks to her memories and abilities of this body, I can drive at least.’
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Heaven didn’t respond to anything as she kept her hands on the steering wheel while raising her other foot on the pedal. Grabbing the sword that she put between the door and the seat, she used it as an alternative. She placed the sword on the pedal, wedging it with the seat to keep the car moving.
After she ascertained the sword was secure enough, both her feet were now in the driver’s seat. Heaven squatted down, now fully rolling down the window. The car ahead of them was still opening fire with two people having half of their bodies out of the windows.
"You fuckers..." Heaven smirked and when she caught an opening, she slid out half of her body out of the window and opened fire. Her other foot was on the steering wheel, maneuvering the car while fighting.
Both Hera and Dragon in the backseat were rendered speechless. All they could do was stare at Heaven, shooting down the people ahead of them while driving using a material and her foot!
"This is..." Hera murmured, almost forgetting the situation they were in. "... I never thought I’d be this scary."
