Chapter 904: Behead him

"Let’s get married, Frank. If you do, being with you will be my life’s mission. That’s my offer. If you refuse, then kill me right here and now because no matter how many times you erase my memories or how bad you hurt me, my heart will never be yours."

Silence followed suit after Hera’s remarks, holding Dragon’s gaze without any hint of backing down. The idea of escaping him had already disappeared from her heart. All she could think of right now was saving Leo.

What would happen to her if she won this gamble was something she would think about later. For now, she stopped hoping and praying and waiting for a miracle to come. Deep in her heart, it terrified her. But at the same time, revealing the truth was liberating. It was as though she broke free from the chains of fear that had bound her in this place since waking up in this body.

This time, Hera wouldn’t be bound here against her will. Strangely, the idea of staying gave her comfort even if that decision was to stay with the person she loathed to the core.

"Hah." After a while, Dragon let out a scoff. He slowly bent down to his knees until his eyes were on the same level as hers. He scanned her face, letting out another scoff as if he was rendered speechless to say anything.

"Hera, what makes you think I’ll take your offer?" he questioned once he gathered his thoughts. "After knowing you had feelings for him and that you’d even make this noble sacrifice for a man, what makes you think I’ll let such an abominable existence linger around?"

"Then kill me." Unfazed by the growing darkness shrouding Dragon, Hera looked at him dead in the eyes. "If you don’t, then I’ll kill myself —"

The rest of her words rolled back to her throat as he suddenly grabbed her face, pressing his fingers on her cheeks.

"Hera! Stop that nonsense!" Leo yelled as he took a large step, but this time, the people holding him at gunpoint walked closer.

"One more step and you’d be on the ground," warned a person from his side, pressing the muzzle on his back. "This is not something you should step in."

Leo clenched his teeth as he looked back and then gazed at the other people holding him at gunpoint. Helpless and miffed, he looked back at Hera and Dragon.

’You foolish woman...’he ground his teeth, balling his hands into a tight fist. "Hera! We already talked about this, didn’t we?! I don’t want to be saved — not by you! Stop this right now! Why... why are you doing this to me?! Do you think going this far will really save me?! Do you really think I can continue with my life, knowing someone sacrificed themselves for me!? Hera!"

Dragon glanced over his shoulder and sneered before he held her gaze once more.

"So, he also knew about this, huh?" he chuckled, running his fingers through his hair. "How irritating. Does this mean everyone else knew except me? Everyone was fooling me and I willingly got played. Does everyone think I’m that easy? Haha."

He fluttered his eyelashes back to her. "I am deeply hurt, Hera. I’ve done everything to please you, to save you. To give you a better life. Yet, this is how you repay me?" his fingers in her cheeks pressed deeper.

Hera let out a short whimper as her gums bled the tighter his grip was. However, she didn’t back down. Instead, her eyes simply shone even brighter.

"I never asked to be saved," she forced out a word through her bleeding teeth. "If this is your means of saving me, then I’d rather be dead."

Dragon scoffed, almost amused at that look on her face.

"Now I can see some little snippets of the Hera I knew." He nodded in satisfaction, tossing her face to the side as he let her go. "Ahh... how annoying. It’s really annoying."

Still squatting, his fingers combed through his hair once again. When he dropped his hand and set his emotionless eyes on her, Hera’s heart thudded nervously.

Now this look... was the real face of this monster.

"Fine," he said without any tinge of emotion. "Fine, Hera. If this is what you want, then I won’t try anymore. I thought if I erased your memories, you would live a better life. But obviously, my kindness and consideration aren’t welcome."

Dragon nodded in understanding, sneering. "Alright, then. Don’t blame me for what I’m going to do because this is what you get for breaking my heart for a thousand times."

The corner of his mouth curled up into a smirk, grabbing her hair as he stood up. His eyes blazed as his heart was engulfed with fire.

"Watch this, Hera," he hissed, stilling her head in Leo’s direction. "And never forget how this man dies right before your eyes."

Hera winced as his grip on her hair tightened, clasping his wrist on instinct.

"Don’t take that guy anywhere!" Dragon roared his chest out. "Behead him here and make sure to use the dullest knife so he doesn’t die immediately. Let him suffer every time you cut his flesh until he’s cursing and blaming this bitch."

"Stop it!" Hera screamed as she struggled, launching a kick at Dragon, but to no avail.

In a blink of an eye, Dragon pushed her down and pounced on her until she was on the ground, sitting on her back to keep her still. He grabbed her hair once more, pulling it up to lift her head to watch this execution.

Meanwhile, Leo took a step back, eyes wide as they shook. His gaze was still on Hera, who was now on lying on her stomach, and then at Dragon, who was sitting on her back. He balled his hands into a tight fist, looking at the people approaching him.

"Stop..." his voice rumbled down his chest. "I’m not dying in front of her."

"Leo!"

Leo bolted as he tried to run away, trying to get in the car to go as far away as possible. He didn’t want to run away, but it was better to die somewhere else than right in front of her. His death would hurt her, but if she watched his beheading, the memory would haunt her for life.

Hence, he got to run... but to no avail.
