Chapter 862: Was I imagining it?
[DRAGON’S DEN]
The dinner Dragon hosted unfolded as planned. Leo and Hera received formal attires for the occasion. Although Hera had a plethora of clothes to choose from, she dismissed the idea, since everything she wore from head to toe was provided by Dragon.
Standing beside the bed, Hera stared at the red fitted dress in an open box. Another box containing a pair of stilettos was beside the dress, along with a small note. Hera picked up the card, which read:
[Wear this tonight.]
A shallow breath slipped past her nostrils as she shifted her gaze to the dress once more. A ridiculing scoff escaped her at the sight of it.
"Didn’t he say he likes her?" she whispered. "Yet he doesn’t even know she’s sick and tired of this color."
Hera tossed the card onto the bed, picking up the dress to inspect it. She nodded approvingly, admitting Dragon truly had a sophisticated taste. Considering he had always been like that, it didn’t surprise her anymore.
"I wonder..." she murmured, looking up at the window where she could see a part of the garden. "Just what is there to celebrate?"

Hera obediently prepared herself for the dinner. Thanks to the maids who always looked after her, they made her look a lot healthier than she was. Compared to when she had just woken up from a long slumber, Hera had gained more weight and mass.
"Miss Hera, do you like it?"
Hera blinked back to the current moment, shifting her attention to the group of maids standing behind her through the vanity mirror. All of them were smiling eagerly, waiting for her feedback.
’Was I zoning out the whole time? I didn’t even notice they finished already.’Hera set her gaze on her reflection, touching her face in the mirror.
"So pretty," she whispered, making the maids smile in satisfaction.
’I’ve always known Hera is beautiful, even in the memories she left with me. I’m aware. But... this is like meeting a celebrity in real life,’ she thought, admiring the face she was currently wearing. ’Even without her background, she’d live a lavish life if only she used this face strategically. Red also suits her perfectly.’
A shallow sigh escaped her, but she still maintained a satisfied smile. Hera slowly rose from her seat, turning to meet the people who worked hard to make her even prettier.
"Thank you for your hard work," she expressed.
"It’s nothing, Miss Hera. We didn’t do much. You’re already pretty, and your skin is already good, so it was easier to do the job."
"That’s right, Miss Hera."
"For sure, the master will fall for you all over again if he sees you right now."
Hera giggled at the maid’s response. During her time here, she had worked hard to gain the trust of these maids. Therefore, her relationship with them was deeper than a master-servant relationship. Even so, it still wasn’t that deep since she still couldn’t talk to them about something more serious, like the truth. Nevertheless, gaining allies was progress. So she was already satisfied with it.
"What time is it?" she asked, smoothly diverting the topic.
"It’s almost time for the dinner banquet, Miss Hera," answered one of the maids amicably. "Everyone should be there by now."
"I see. I can’t let them wait for long, can I? Please lead the way," Hera remarked, and with that being said, the maids assisted her to the greenhouse where the dinner was hosted.
Hera only realized that the venue of the dinner was the greenhouse when the maids escorted her to the entrance of the mansion. A vehicle was already waiting for her outside, confusing her a little. Fortunately, the maid told her its purpose. Thus, Hera rode in the car even though she could’ve just walked her way there. The maids were left behind, so it was just Hera and the driver of the car.
’Well, if I walk my way to the greenhouse, my feet will suffer with these heels,’ she thought, glancing at the driver. ’I hope I’ll get more information tonight. Not knowing the reason for his actions makes me anxious.’
Hera looked at the window on her side, sighing. In no time, she caught the lights surrounding the greenhouse. She couldn’t help but be in awe of the magical place in sight.
"So pretty," she blurted out quietly.
The car was driving slowly, but somehow, the pace granted her some time to admire the setting. As she admired it, it made her recall a memory of the original Hera. There was also a part of her memory where she recalled Hera and Dragon having dinner together.
Now that she thought about it, Dragon was quite romantic. He knew how to make a woman swoon and make grand gestures. It was just that Hera never appreciated such things. Quite a contrast for someone who liked pretty things.
"Miss Hera, we’re here."
"Huh?" Hera looked at the driver when he announced their arrival. She looked at the window again, furrowing her brows. "But aren’t we quite far?"
"The car won’t fit if we go straight to the greenhouse," explained the driver. "So, this is the farthest I can take you."
"I see." Hera nodded in understanding, peeking at the window. The pathway was lit, and if she knew correctly, it would only take another three or five minutes to reach the greenhouse. Therefore, it wasn’t far. She could just walk even with these heels.
With that thought in mind, Hera opened the door and stepped out. When she closed it, she glanced at the mirror straight to where she could see a glimpse of the driver’s side.
’Was I imagining it?’ she wondered to herself. ’I feel like I heard that voice somewhere.’
Hera mulled over it for a moment before shaking her head. Considering the number of people working for the household, it wouldn’t be surprising if she’d met the driver before. Thus, she didn’t think much about it and made her way to the greenhouse where the dinner banquet was.
