Chapter 845: Fix him

Primo’s lips parted, his eyes fixed on the wounded soldier Heaven was dragging out of the woods. Once Heaven had cleared the forest, she dropped the soldier’s feet and scanned him and Moose.

"What the hell is that?" Moose, accustomed to her regular antics, pointed at the soldier near her feet. "Why did you come out dragging him with you? Where’s your ride?"

"It broke down on the way here." Heaven tipped her head back to the forest. "It’s not so far—"

A thunderous explosion suddenly rang in the forest, compelling the three (Heaven, Moose, and Primo) to look back. She shrugged and then redirected her attention to the two.

"See?" she said. "It’s not that far. So, you don’t have to worry that I dragged this guy all by myself."

"Who said anyone’s worried?" Moose’s face twitched in dismay. "No one’s worried about you. If anything, we should be worried about ourselves."

"Fine, whatever." Heaven waved dismissively, her eyes falling on Primo, who was sitting on the ground. She scanned him for a moment before snapping her eyes back to Moose. "Fix this guy."

"Huh?" Primo cocked his head to the side, gazing at Moose.

"He doesn’t want me to." Moose shrugged. "I told him I can perform surgery, but he doesn’t believe in me and my license."

Heaven nodded in understanding, assessing the man’s situation. "Fix him. He’ll die."

"What?" Primo gasped, watching Heaven turn around to face the soldier she dragged out with her. When he turned, he caught Moose marching in his direction.

"Wait—wait!" His breath hitched when Moose lazily grabbed his arm, smiling. He shook his head, whispering, "no."

"Don’t worry, man. Out of ten people I helped recently, three of them survived."

"No!"

"Come on." Moose lazily dragged Primo to the nearby convoy, knowing there were supplies over there. Before they could create distance, he stopped as he heard Heaven’s call.

"Moose," she called, tossing a bag to him when he turned around. Moose caught it midair, brows raised. "Use it for him. The guy’s psychotic."

Moose gazed at the bag of medical supplies and smirked. "I guess I don’t have to look for my materials." He then proceeded to drag Primo. But before they would go, he stopped by his motorcycle to get a small medical tools kit, which he often carried around wherever he would go.

As Moose dragged Primo away to "treat" him, he reached out in a panic. But alas, Heaven was already squatting next to the soldier on the ground, her back facing him.

Primo thought he had survived such a catastrophe, but it seemed his struggle wasn’t over yet.

Ignoring Primo’s dramatic struggle, Heaven scanned the soldier lying unconscious on the ground. This soldier was the same person who drove her motorcycle earlier.

"Using young soldiers like this for personal reasons..." she whispered, feeling something vibrate on her chest. Heaven slipped her hand inside her shirt and then her bra, taking out her phone, which she secured in it.

Gazing at the caller’s name, she didn’t hesitate to answer the call.

"Yes, darling?" she spoke the moment the line connected. "How are you? Are you safe?"

"I’m okay."

"Did you get hurt?"

"No, I didn’t. Bear and I are safe." Dominic replied monotonously. "Are you?"

"Just a few scratches and grazes." She shrugged. "But I’m fine. Moose is here— he’s currently treating No One."

"I see. Will he die?"

"No way in hell would I let him die." Heaven snapped at the convoy not far away, almost hearing Primo’s scream from it. "Anyway, Wolf told me he’d pick us up. He’ll probably come anytime soon."

"Send me the location."

Heaven arched a brow at the sudden urgency in his voice. "Of course, I will. What’s with the tone? Were you afraid I’ll go away?" she humored.

"I just want to make sure I will see my wife later." He breathed out. "I promised, didn’t I? That I will tell you the details later."

"Yes, I guess you did." A subtle smile turned up on her face, lowering her gaze at the soldier. "Dom."

"Yes?"

"I left the children in your parents’ care. Princess and Gray were with them," she remarked and a brief silence followed her voice for a while. "I don’t think I’d be able to see them anytime soon."

Dominic took a moment to respond. "They will understand."

"Mhm."

"Hera," he called solemnly. "They will be fine, and... you’re going to see them, eventually. Once this is over, let’s leave peacefully, hmm?"

Her expression softened as a subtle yet bitter smile appeared on her face. "This is just a small sacrifice, right?"

"Mhm."

Another wave of silence dominated the line as neither of them spoke for a while. After another several seconds, Heaven let out a deep exhale.

"I’ll call you later," she said. "Tell Bear I’m praising him."

Dominic and Heaven made a quick exchange before they ended the call. Heaven sighed for the umpteenth time, setting her attention on the soldier lying on the ground. After a minute, the man grunted as deep lines appeared between his brows.

When he opened his eyes, the face of an angel was hovering over him. But alas, his amazement didn’t last long as he remembered this wicked woman.

Meanwhile...

"Ack!" A man emitted a short noise, accompanied by the sound of his neck snapping. His lifeless body thudded onto the concrete ground, spared from any additional pain as he met his demise on the spot.

"That’s the last one," Bear declared, dusting off his hands. Twisting his body, his gaze immediately fixed on Dominic, who was seated on the car’s bumper engrossed in his phone. "Mr. Zhu."

"Heaven mentioned she’s praising you," Dominic uttered without averting his eyes from his phone. "Give me a minute, Mr. Cruel. I’m sending an email to my son’s teacher."

Bear’s face twitched, but he found himself waiting. After a minute, Dominic slid his hand into his pocket, looking in Bear’s direction.

"Heaven is with Moose, and they seem to have rescued Primo Rossi," he announced, a fact Bear was already aware of. "She told me she’d send me the address of our rendezvous point. However..."

Dominic trailed off, turning his gaze back to the road. "How are we going to clean this up?"

Glancing back at the path they had taken, Bear let out a deep exhale. Cars, motorcycles, and people lay strewn across the road or off the road. Thin smoke billowed from some of the vehicles, while others that had veered off course were already engulfed in flames.

"To be honest," Bear murmured helplessly, "I don’t know. But what I do know is that this is a lot of work."
