Chapter 816: Darling Dragon, Miss Me?
"Mission complete, Boss."
Hearing Joker utter those words brought a surreal feeling to Deborah and Hunter’s hearts. With the engine powering up and the vehicle starting to move, relief enveloped them.
They were saved.
This was no dream.
Someone had come to help and rescue them.
As the vehicle moved away from the narrow alley of the back entrance, thoughts swirled in their minds. They sighed with relief, only to flinch when a loud explosion erupted behind them.
Despite their injuries and aching bodies, Deborah and Hunter turned to look back. Their eyes widened as they witnessed a wildfire consuming the warehouse they had just left.
BOOM!
Another explosion fueled the growing flames. Deborah covered her lips, a tear rolling down her cheek. Her neck tensed, tears falling uncontrollably.
"I’m saved," she whispered, unable to describe the overwhelming feeling in her heart. "Tarrah... I’m saved."
Both Hunter and Deborah had felt impending death tonight. Hunter had almost accepted his fate, while Deborah was on the brink. Years working for Dragon had conditioned them to accept such a terrible outcome. They had seen countless people meet their demise at Dragon’s hands; their deaths wouldn’t make a difference.
Hearing Joker announce the completion of their mission eased their hearts, but seeing the torture house engulfed in flames intensified their emotions.
This time, they were truly saved.
"Hey, hey!"
Deborah and Hunter turned to the driver’s seat, realizing Joker wasn’t addressing them. Hunter glanced at the rearview mirror, observing the smug grin on Joker’s face. Meanwhile, Deborah caught a glimpse of Joker’s side profile.
"Haha! Surprise, surprise, Frank." A wicked glint flickered in Joker’s eyes. Hunter and Deborah held their breath as Joker mentioned the name. "You fucking retard. I warned you, Franky. Show your face again, and it’ll be the worst decision you’ll ever make after what you did to her."
The smirk on Joker’s face vanished as a grim expression replaced it. "I’m just getting started, Frank. If I were you, I’d run as fast as I could. Who knows? You might be the next to explode."
Joker ripped off his earpiece and tossed it out of the window. "Bastard," he hissed, clicking his tongue in irritation. "I won’t let him sleep peacefully from today onward."
Hunter and Deborah exchanged looks, surprised by Joker’s audacity to speak to Dragon in such a manner. The only people they knew who dared to do so were those who cursed at him before meeting their end.
"Who are you people?" Deborah blurted out softly, but neither Joker nor Fig replied. It seemed it would be a quiet ride. Eventually, without Deborah and Hunter realizing, they fell asleep due to their injuries.

"I’m just getting started, Frank. If I were you, I’d run as fast as I could. Who knows? You might be the next to explode."
Dragon gripped the phone tightly as its beeping noise resonated in his ears. His jaw tightened, teeth clenched, and the veins beneath his temple protruded. Breathing heavily, he fought to control the anger swelling in his chest.
"Joker..." his voice rumbled through his chest, about to throw his phone when Hera’s voice caressed his ears.
"Frank?" Hera called, sitting up from the bed and rubbing her weary eyes. "Why are you awake?"
She asked, peeling her hand from her eyes to look at Dragon near the window. She cocked her head to the side, staring at his broad back, brows furrowed.
"Is everything alright?" she asked again after seconds of silence. "Frank, can you please talk to me?"
Dragon drew a deep breath and closed his eyes. Exhaling slowly through his lips, he turned around and smiled.
"Why are you awake?" he asked, walking back to the bed and sitting on the edge of it. "Did I wake you up?"
Hera pressed her lips into a thin line as she hummed. "I’ve probably gotten used to sleeping beside you. I think sleeping alone made me a little sensitive, easily waking up when I hear movement."
"That’s not true," he quipped, brushing her cheek with the back of his fingers. "Hera, something happened, and I have to take care of it."
"You’re leaving?"
"I’ll be back," he reassured, squeezing her hand. "As soon as possible. I promise."
Hera frowned deeply, disheartened by the idea. But in the end, she couldn’t do anything to make him stay anyway.
"Just... come back as soon as you can," she reluctantly replied, giving him a helpless look. "Hmm?"
"Of course," he said, his smile fading. "Go back to sleep. Let me tuck you in."
"Mhm."
Hera lay down again while Dragon secured the blanket over her shoulders. He sat on the edge of the bed, nodding at her while caressing her head. Hera smiled at him and closed her eyes. When her breathing grew deeper, the smile on his face faded.
His eyes glinted as he pushed himself carefully from the bed. Without wasting a second, he marched toward the door, leaving Hera alone to assess the situation. The moment he stepped out of the room, a few men were already standing outside. Dragon didn’t stop as he trudged away, with one man trailing behind.
"Boss," called the man walking closely behind Dragon. He leaned closer and whispered something in his boss’s ear, making Dragon furrow his brows.
Dragon glanced at the man, who lowered his head under his gaze. "They’re surely testing my patience," he muttered, rushing to his home office. In no time, Dragon reached the office and quickly sat down behind the desk.
As soon as Dragon sat down, his computer was already on. A Joker logo was displayed with a written message underneath:
[PRESS ANY KEY TO TALK TO ME.]
His eyes glinted with malevolence, his breathing slow and heavy. His jaw tightened once more and, without thinking twice, he pressed the spacebar. The moment he did, Hera’s face appeared on the screen.
"Hello, darling Dragon," she remarked, the corner of her lips curling up into a wicked smirk. "Miss me?"
