Chapter 797: D and D

[DRAGON’S LAIR]

"For those who tried to make fun of me and thought they were safe, you’re wrong, dear. To everyone who didn’t respect my wishes, and for those who still targeted me even after death... you are all dead. That’s right. You will all pay for ever believing just because the devil is taking a beauty rest, it won’t wake up even if you poke it."

"I will be coming for you. Watch out."

Dragon stared at the woman on the screen as he watched the clip until the end. It ended with the woman staring directly at him. His expression was cold and dark, jaw tightening as he watched the clip on the laptop while on his way somewhere.

"Who are you?" he whispered, eyes glinting deviously. "Who are you that’s impersonating her?"

One thing Dragon was sure of was that Hera was with him. He had just left her this morning in her room, and for sure, she was exercising with Leo Wu in the garden around this time. In other words, it was clear that whoever this person on the screen was, they were an impostor.

"Hah..." he let out a ridiculing laugh, stretching his neck to the side until it produced a short cracking sound. "What a brave and annoying bastard."

Dragon arched a brow as he heard a deep voice coming from his earpiece.

"Our hideout in Y City is being raided," said the man connected to the call. "We’re losing it tonight."

"The Y City?" Dragon furrowed his brows as he pressed his earpiece. "Who did it?"

"The Triads. It seems the video spread already and reached some annoying bastards who think they can redeem themselves if they have a change of heart now."

"We’ve always been at odds with the Triads," Dragon argued. "I don’t think they made a move just because a clip of an impostor had started to spread."

"We’re at odds with the Triads because you let that man, No One, go," the man on the other end of the line corrected. "We negotiated with them and promised them to give Alexander Cafre’s head. It’s your fault that those dimwits are easily manipulated."

Dragon clicked his tongue, a little annoyed at the person he was talking to.

"Franko, I allowed you to take home Hera Cruel and conduct all those experiments for her for research purposes. Even when you took her home, I let you do what you want because she makes you happy. However, if you’re going to become stupid for the sake of this thing people call love, then... I’ll have to take her."

"Dimitri, do that, and you won’t like what you will see."

"I’ve already seen enough, Franko. And I am well aware you’re the person behind this organization’s success in such a short span of time," the other man argued calmly. "However, we had an agreement before. Do not forget that. Although it pains me, I only think of this organization’s best interest. If you’d become a liability to it, then I have no other choice. The same goes for me. If this organization’s best interest doesn’t align with mine, then you’re free to take me out of it."

Dragon secretly clenched his teeth, taking a deep breath as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Don’t touch her," he breathed out. "Dimitri, you are my brother, the only one I truly deem as family. However, if you touch Hera, then I don’t think our visions align anymore."

There was a moment of silence in the line. Despite Dragon and the person he was talking to being in different places, the tension between them was palpable.

"All I’m saying is the worst-case scenario," the man explained in the same deep and calm tone. "As long as you’re doing what you always do, then I won’t interfere with your relationship with Hera Cruel. Even so, this matter that suddenly appeared out of nowhere should be dealt with as soon as possible."

"I’ve already said nothing about Deborah and Alexander Cafre, though I cannot promise about this impostor," he continued. "I am already planning to return. Don’t make me settle this on my own because I can’t promise my frustration won’t affect those around you."

"We’ll let go of the Y City for now," the man added. "There’s nothing else we can do to salvage it. It’ll only be a long, tiring, and wasteful time with the Triads. Just make sure this won’t happen again."

After saying his piece, the man on the other end of the line abruptly ended the call. Meanwhile, Dragon kept his annoyed countenance. He irritably took his earpiece away, winding down the window, and threw it outside for the other cars to crush it.

"Dimitri," he whispered, smirking evilly. "Do you think you can boss me around? When you hadn’t done anything all this time?"

Another glint flickered across his eyes as he gazed at the window. His evil smile faded as a thin layer of frost quickly replaced it.

’You shouldn’t have threatened me with her,’ he thought, knowing what kind of man his sword brother was.

If Dragon was evil, Dimitri was on a new level of crazy. If Dimitri mentioned someone or had given a warning, that meant that the person would be in deep trouble. In other words, if the man expressed his displeasure and dismay toward Dragon’s relationship with Hera, then it was only a matter of time before Dimitri erased her existence in his life.

Silence fell on his shoulder, staring at the window, keeping his thoughts to himself.

’It seems you have forgotten, Dimitri,’Dragon thought as the corner of his eyes sharpened. ’You left and hadn’t returned for many years. Many things happened when you left, and thus, do not expect to have the same control as I do now.’

Although Dragon understood Dimitri’s logic, he wouldn’t be able to forgive him if he touched Hera. Especially now that Dragon and Hera’s relationship continued to grow better.
