Chapter 788: Project 102

Meanwhile, Dragon smirked as he listened to the problem that had come to his attention. Sitting behind the desk, he shook his head as he let out a series of dry laughter.

"Interesting," he mused, snapping his eyes at the man standing across the desk. "So, you’re saying not only did Deborah escape, but the people I sent to kill her died?"

The man lowered his head a little. "Some uninvited party interfered."

"And who are they?"

"We still don’t know."

"You don’t know?" Dragon smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. "How can you not know?"

"There was no footage or witnesses. The job was clean."

"How about the bullets?" Dragon arched a brow. "What type of bullet was used?"

The man slowly lifted his gaze to meet Dragon’s sharp eyes. "No bullets were recovered." He slowly took out a small envelope and placed it on the desk. "These were the pictures of the crime scene. All of them didn’t die from gunshots."

Dragon quietly leaned forward and dragged the folder to him. He didn’t waste a second to take out the pictures of the scene. Unfazed by the gruesome sight, he moved a photo closer.

"They were all stabbed to death," said the man reporting to him. "Based on the cuts on their bodies, they probably used a sword and a dagger."

Dragon checked the other pictures; some had slits on their throats, others had wounds on their chests. There were a few unlucky ones who were decapitated. It was brutal. It was something Deborah couldn’t do on her own.

"Have you had any guesses who might be this busybody challenging me this time?" Dragon asked, peeling his eyes from the decapitated photo, and setting them to the man standing in front of the desk.

"The Triads are at the top of our list right now," said the man. "Their activities have been aggravating our business, and they don’t like you that much."

"Those damn bastards." Dragon hissed as he clicked his tongue. "Surely, they’d do anything to piss me off."

"Their boss took a liking to Hera Cruel," the man responded calmly. "Considering she made him lick her shoes once, they think you’re continuing her legacy. Or perhaps he’s a masochist and likes being dominated."

Dragon glanced at the man but didn’t refuse the idea. Even though it sounded ridiculous, Hera had a knack for making alliances, despite degrading others beyond rock bottom.

"Send the Triads some surprises," he ordered as he calmly leaned back. "Notify Ram about it. After all, he and the Triads have been head-on-head over the scam city."

"It hasn’t been confirmed yet."

"I know, but they’ve been pissing me off. I’ve already let their previous actions slip. Moreover, it’ll set an example for everyone who wants to challenge me."

"Then, how about Deborah?" the man asked. "What should we do about her?"

"Find out her whereabouts and if she’s with the Triads now. If they helped her, then there’s a possibility she’s with them. That woman knows a lot of things. Someone has to silence her."

The man drew his lips into a thin line and nodded. "I’ll report again later."

"Is that all?" Dragon cocked his head to the side. "My wife is waiting for me, and I don’t want to be disturbed while I’m with her."

"No, Dragon." The man maintained a straight expression while Dragon arched a brow. "Something strange is happening in the black market. I can’t put the right words for it, but it’s best if you see it for yourself."

"Something strange?" Dragon slowly veered his gaze to the monitor on the desk. "Just how strange is it? Did Joker go crazy again?"

"That... is still unknown," the man replied. "But it’s definitely worth your attention."

Dragon glanced at the man again and said, "Leave now."

"Yes."

With that being said, the man turned around and left the room soundlessly. Meanwhile, Dragon turned on his computer to check what that man was talking about. It didn’t take long for him to find out what the other man was talking about.

"Someone..." he whispered, eyes sharpening. "... is posing as Hera, huh?"

Dragon flexed his fingers, creating some cracking sounds. He stretched his neck from one side to the other, resting his hands on the keyboards, and typing endlessly to track the IP of this person who was posing as Hera Cruel and spreading the word that she was alive.

[Hera’s Room]

Hera sat on the edge of the bed. Still wearing a robe after showering, prepared to give this body which would be considered a step closer to her goal. She gazed at the shut door with determination, before gazing at the closet where Deborah was leaning on her back.

"What is Project 102?" she asked, her voice just loud enough to reach the closet. "Does he have an important business project? An experiment, perhaps?"

Deborah slowly shrugged, glancing at the locked door. "Project 102 is not a business or an experiment. It’s just a code for me."

"For you?"

"They’d probably know by now that I escaped," she clarified, looking back at the woman on the bed. "They simply call it like that so they won’t raise suspicion. Especially if you’re listening. They didn’t know you already know, so they’re trying to deceive you more and make you think it was simply about business."

"I see." Hera nodded. "How did you escape?"

"Hmm?"

"If it’s Dragon, I’m sure you would’ve died. Unless, of course, he simply sent some rookie to silence you. Or... you got help from someone."

Deborah ran her tongue across her inner cheek. "Someone helped me. Who it was, I don’t know and I don’t care. Dragon has a lot of enemies. When the chance arose, I didn’t idle and fled the scene. I didn’t look back. There’s no telling if they did it to save me or they simply want to end me themselves."

"Right..." Hera rocked her head, understanding Deborah’s assumptions. The latter had worked for Dragon, so his enemies were also hers.

"Do you know where Ram is?" Deborah inquired. "I heard about him and to tell you the truth, he’s been in negotiation with Dragon."

Hera arched a brow as she looked back at Deborah.

"He hasn’t sided with him yet. As I mentioned, they’re negotiating. Ram isn’t someone Dragon underestimates, and knowing Dragon, he respects the man," explained Deborah. "If you can ask Dragon where I can find him right now, that would help."

"I’ll try." Hera pressed her lips into a thin line, setting her eyes back at the door. "Let’s hope that he’d happily spew a bunch of things after sex."
