Chapter 783: Are you angry?
Chapter 783: Are you angry?
When Dragon left the garden and headed to Hera’s room, his thoughts were filled with his conversation with Leo. However, everything in his mind disappeared when he reached her room, only to find it locked. He tried to open the door twice before stepping back.
"Hmm..." he let out a short hum, slipping his hand inside his pocket. "She’s locking doors now?"
Dragon fished out a phone and called someone. The call was picked up immediately.
"Bring me the keys to her room," he ordered without explanation. "Now."
After saying his piece, he ended the call and returned his phone to his pocket. He kept his eyes on the door, squinting suspiciously. Not long ago, he ordered his men to give Hera some privacy. Some with enough power disagreed with his decision, but for Dragon, it was the right call.
Hera needed to feel a little bit of freedom. After all, she was starting to recover and, like a child, she kept asking questions. To reassure her, he had to do this. What harm could she do to him and everyone? She forgot everything, even herself. Even so, a small part of him was saying otherwise.
"Hera..." he whispered in a low tone. "I hope you prove I didn’t make a mistake."
Dragon stood still, and after a couple of minutes, hurried footsteps reached his ears. He kept his eyes fixed on the door even when someone came to his side.
"Boss," said the man, holding the key to Hera’s room.
Without looking at the man, Dragon ordered, "Open it."
"Yes." The man didn’t waste a second, standing in front of the door, slipping the key in. The second the lock clicked, he stepped aside while Dragon marched toward the door.
Dragon held the knob for a second, as if hesitant to find out she wasn’t inside. But the thought quickly disappeared. He twisted the knob and, without hesitation, pushed the door open. Dragon unknowingly held his breath as soon as his eyes landed inside the room, his gaze slowly falling on the figure sitting on the floor near the table and chairs.
"Hera?" he called, brows furrowed. His call made her shoulders tense up as if she was surprised, squinting as she suddenly sprung from the floor.
"Frank!" Hera turned around in panic, forcing a smile, hands on her back. "You’re here? So early?"
His eyes remained squinting, assessing her up and down, then studying the nervousness on her face. "Well, my wife was talking about how little time we spend together," he explained as he advanced in her direction.
"Of course, I can’t simply ignore her longing," he added when he stopped in front of her, studying the nervousness in her eyes up close. "Hera, you seem nervous."
Her lips quivered as her irises dilated. "I do? Haha. No. I was just surprised."
"And why would you be surprised?" he arched a brow, tilting his head to the side. "Are you hiding something?"
"Of — of course, not," she stuttered, clasping her hands behind her. "What would I hide from you?"
This time, Dragon didn’t respond. His eyes fixated on the expression she was making. Suddenly, he thought of the nonsense Leo Wu spewed earlier. Trust. A shallow breath slipped past his lips as he thought about it.
’This is why I can’t trust you,’he thought, blinking slowly. ’Even in this sorry state, you have the nerve to lie.’
"Hera, one of the qualities I loathe passionately in people is their ability to lie," he remarked calmly, his eyes devoid of any affection. "I’m giving you another chance. What’s behind you?"
Hera’s breath hitched until her neck turned taut. Her eyes shook under his gaze, and sweat slowly formed on her forehead.
"What... are you hiding from me?" he continued under his breath, his aura growing darker. "Don’t make me angry. Show me what’s..."
Before anger could consume him, Dragon trailed off at the faint sound that caressed his ears. His eyes slowly fell on the floor, squinting upon seeing a few drops of red liquid on it. His pupils instantly widened, and he aggressively reached for her arm, pulling it in front of them.
What graced his eyes were her hands stained with blood.
"I’m sorry...!" Hera panicked as her entire body shivered, watching him slowly raise his head to meet her shaky eyes. Tears instantly welled up from the corner of her eyes. "I didn’t mean to cut myself while trimming some flowers. I got so scared that I locked the door and thought of ways to clean up the blood."
With shaking eyes, he gazed down, and her face instantly drained of color at the sight of blood. Her face crumpled as she faced him again.
"I’m really sorry, Frank. I know you always remind me to be careful, so I got scared," she continued, almost bawling her eyes out, trying her best to explain what happened despite hiccuping. "I didn’t want to worry you anymore so... it hurts so much... hic!"
Slowly, calmness dawned on Dragon as he stared at the tears running down her face. His shoulders relaxed as his eyes softened. Raising his hand, he brushed her tears with his knuckles.
"Let’s treat it first," he said, gazing down at her bleeding finger. The blood was so much that it tainted her entire hand. When he looked up at her, he offered a gentle smile. "Does it hurt that much?"
Hera pressed her lips and nodded. "Hmm."
"Did you get hurt anywhere else?" he followed up, and she shook her head. "Okay."
Dragon looked back at the person by the door. Even before he could say anything, the man immediately fled to get her some first aid.
"Let’s go to the bathroom first," he said, looking back at her.
"Are you angry?"
"We’ll talk later," he replied calmly, slipping his hand inside his suit to take out a handkerchief. He meticulously wrapped it around her hand as he added, "For now, this is our priority."
Hera bit her lips slightly as she nodded, allowing him to lead her to the bathroom to wash her wound.
