Chapter 758: Vase II

As promised, Deborah assisted Hera in arranging the flowers in a vase. Although Deborah did nothing but watch, her presence was enough for Hera. All she needed was company—someone to talk to while creating the vase.

Seated around a small, round coffee table, Hera tilted her head to see Deborah across from her.

"What do you think?" Hera eagerly asked for feedback as she placed the last piece of flower in the vase.

Deborah studied it for a moment and genuinely smiled. She shifted her eyes to Hera, amazed at how Hera made the flowers look even more beautiful than they had originally appeared.

’I thought it wouldn’t make a difference, but now that they’re put together, they do look appealing,’ she thought, nodding approvingly at Hera.

"They’re prettier than I expected," she praised gently. "I didn’t know you could make them even prettier."

Hera giggled. "I didn’t know either. It’s just that I thought they’d look pretty in a vase." She slowly turned her head to the window where she used to stare from the bed.

"When I woke up the first time, I always found myself sitting on the bed, staring at that window," she shared, eyes twinkling with sentiments. "And every time, I always thought these flowers would look better if they were together. Somehow, during the days I was confused and lost in my situation, looking at them gave me a little comfort."

Hera slowly set her eyes back to Deborah, smiling softly. "That is why I want to put this vase in Frank’s office. So, even if he’s doing late-night work, he can look at these flowers in hopes they’d give him comfort, just like how they comforted me."

"Aren’t you lovely?" Deborah’s eyes softened, touched by Hera’s genuine gesture and the thought she put into making the vase. "I’m sure Dragon will appreciate this."

"Dragon?" Hera furrowed her brows, snapping Deborah to her senses.

"I mean, Frank." Deborah concealed her surprise with a smile. "We call him Dragon sometimes because whenever he’s pissed, he always looks like he’d breathe fire."

"Oh! Haha!" Hera chuckled at the ridiculous explanation. "Deb, I don’t think my husband is like that."

"Oh, Hera. You’ve got no idea how scary he can be sometimes."

Hera pouted. "Maybe because you’re doing something wrong."

"I won’t deny that, but your husband is still human." Deborah shrugged, secretly sighing in relief at fixing that slip of the tongue. "Your husband knows how to get angry. He can be nonsense sometimes, too. But what I’m sure of is that you’re very important to him."

"I know." Hera’s cheeks turned a little pinkish as she nodded. "Well, even if he can be terrible sometimes, I’m sure he has more good qualities than bad. After all, he’s not perfect, just like everyone else. Also, you would’ve left him if he didn’t have redeemable qualities."

Deborah’s smile remained, but in her heart, mind, and soul, she completely disagreed with Hera. Not everyone in this place stuck with Dragon because of the man’s "good" qualities. Some, just like Deborah, remained on Dragon’s side because they had no choice.

"Of course," she whispered with a nod. "Anyway, you should wait until he comes home before you can put those in his office."

"Huh?" Hera blinked, curious. "Why is that?"

"Because no one can freely come in and out of his office."

"But I’m his wife."

"Even so, we still do not know if you’re allowed to enter it."

"Why?" Hera cocked her head to the side. "Is there something I shouldn’t see inside his office?"

"What? No." Deborah shook her head. "It’s just that there are a bunch of important documents in his office. He’ll get angry if a piece of paper gets misplaced or ruined. You know what I mean? If he lost a document, he might end up doing them all over again."

"Oh... that’s why." Hera nodded in understanding again.

"I know you don’t plan on ruining anything in his office, but accidents happen," Deborah explained reassuringly, only to notice the brief disheartened frown turning up on Hera’s face. "How about this? Once your husband comes home, you ask permission to have access to his office?"

"Will he even give me permission?"

"Why not?" Deborah sighed faintly. "You’re his wife. I don’t see any reason for him to forbid you. It’s just that I can’t give you permission, but if he did, then no one else can stop you. For now, I can take this vase to his office if you want to surprise him."

Hera pondered about it for a moment before she asked, "You got his permission?"

"Well, I always report to him, and I’m one of his people—I mean, staff." Deborah shrugged. "But it’s really nothing special."

"Okay." Hera pressed her lips into a thin line, huffing faintly. "Should I make a letter?"

"That’s much better!" Deborah clapped. "Do you have a card and pen there?"

"No, I don’t." Hera shook her head.

"Then wait for me. I’ll ask someone to bring it here." Deborah didn’t wait a second as she sprung up from her seat, marching toward the door. Meanwhile, Hera kept her gaze on her and listened to Deborah talk to someone outside. In under just a minute, Deborah returned to her seat.

"They’ll get it for you," she said reassuringly. "Think of anything you want to write for now."

"Mhm." Hera’s eyes twinkled with gentleness as she nodded.

In no time, someone knocked on the door, and Deborah told that person to come in. Just as she claimed, someone came back with a small note and a pen. They handed it to Hera so she could write her letter to her husband. At this time, Hera had already thought of a message she wanted to write. Since the sticky note was small, she kept her message short and simple.

Even so, that simple and short message stuck on the outer surface of the vase brought a smile to Dragon’s face as soon as he saw it in his office.
