Chapter 744: Get married
Chapter 744: Get married
Hera’s eyes widened as she took in the enchanting scene before her. The soft, warm glow of fairy lights wrapped around the trees and bushes created a magical ambiance. The garden was transformed into a dreamlike wonderland, with the scent of blooming flowers and the flickering of candles in the air, painting a romantic atmosphere that was hard to resist.
She could feel her heart flutter as Dragon wheeled her further into the garden. The illuminated pathway led her to a beautifully arranged table for two, with fine china, crystal glasses, and a centerpiece of fresh flowers. The chairs were placed in a way that encouraged an intimate conversation, and the soft, gentle music playing in the background added to the romantic appeal of the moment.
"Frank," she breathed out as they stopped, looking at Dragon with affectionate eyes. "You..."
The rest of her words were lost in the air, overwhelmed by the love and effort into this surprise. Dragon smiled lovingly at her as he offered his hand, standing on the side of her wheelchair.
"Hand?" he asked, earning a soft smile from her.
Hera slowly placed her skinny yet long fingers on his palm, letting him grasp her hands. He assisted her to stand up, helping her sit down on the intricate chair. As she took her seat, she couldn’t wait to share this magical moment with the culprit who orchestrated this surprise.
"Goodness," she expressed under her breath, watching the man sit on the chair across from her. "You didn’t have to do this. Weren’t you busy? How did you find the time to prepare all of this?"
"I always find the time for you, my dear." There was a sense of pride in Dragon’s tone, pleased to see her reaction. "I realized it has been a while since you woke up, but we hadn’t done anything to celebrate it. Now that you’re continuously recovering, I thought we should at least do a small celebration for our reunion."
"Frank..." Her heart warmed up as her eyes softened. She reached her hand out over the table, squeezing his hand mildly. "You didn’t have to do this."
"But I wanted to," he argued softly, holding her hand back. "Are you unhappy about it?"
"No, of course not. It’s beautiful!" Hera exclaimed as she looked around. "It’s... pretty and I feel like my heart is about to burst just thinking you’ve gone to great lengths to create such a magical moment for the two of us. I’m very happy and I feel like all the worries I had throughout the day are immature concerns. I feel the prettiest at this very second."
"Then that’s all that matters, dear." Dragon slowly lifted her hand to his lips, planting a soft, yet long, kiss on her knuckles. "I’m glad you are happy this time."
He snapped his eyes to her ever so slowly, smiling against her knuckles before placing it down. She had this beautiful and radiant smile on her face, her eyes twinkling with affection and appreciation. The total opposite of a memory in the past that lingered in his mind until this very moment.

[FLASHBACK]
Hera and Dragon sat opposite each other in the romantic garden, the contrast between the enchanting ambiance and Hera’s emotionless expression was striking. The soft, warm glow of the fairy lights still illuminated the garden, but the magic of the scene seemed to have dimmed for Hera.
Dragon watched Hera closely as she methodically sliced through her steak. He had put so much thought and effort into creating this magical moment for her, but her distant demeanor was disheartening. Concerned, he tried to break through the emotional barrier between them by placing his hand near her plate.
"Is something on your mind, Hera?" he asked, his voice filled with worry.
Hera stopped her knife and fork and looked up at Dragon, her eyes meeting his. "I appreciate all of this," she gestured to the beautifully set table and romantic surroundings, "is that what you’re waiting to hear? Validation? Or perhaps, appreciation?"
Her tone was solemn and cold, and the enchanting ambiance suddenly felt much less important to the conversation they were about to have. Dragon slowly retrieved his hand, his forced smile twitching as it faded.
"The steak is good," she commented as she resumed her meal. "But you could’ve chosen a different wine. I would’ve given you a good one from my cellar."
Hera shoved the piece of meat into her wine, turning her head to look for any person in the area. She arched a brow when she saw no one else was around.
"What a shame," she whispered while chewing her food. "Why’s no one around? It would’ve been easier to ask them to get me a better wine."
"Hera," Dragon breathed out, waiting for her to look back at him. When their eyes locked with each other, her brows were elevated and her head was tilted a little to the side. "I asked everyone to give us privacy."
"I supposed you did. Otherwise, there’s no reason for them to leave my sight." She rocked her head in understanding, reaching for the glass of wine within her reach. "This wine can suffice, don’t worry."
"Won’t you going to ask why I asked you to spend this dinner with me?"
"Why would I?" she returned nonchalantly, guiding the glass of wine to her lips. "It’s dinnertime and we’re both hungry. The last thing we want when hungry is to eat with a bunch of barbarians. Isn’t that obvious?"
"Hera."
"Hmm?"
"Are you seriously going to behave in this manner?"
"In what manner, Frank?" Hera placed the wine and wiped the corner of her mouth with the cloth. "I don’t follow."
Dragon pressed his lips into a thin line as he remained silent, holding her gaze sternly. There wasn’t any change in her expression, waiting for any clarification from him. He should have known this sort of reaction was to be expected, but deep in his heart, there was a slight expectation. Even so, he already made an effort and thus, he should see this to the end.
"Let’s get married."
