Chapter 742: This is strange

Meanwhile...

Leo grunted as he weakly opened his eyes. He blinked and blinked until the ceiling grew clearer. His forehead instantly creased, seeing the unfamiliar ceiling and interior of the room he was in.

"Where... am I?" he whispered in a coarse voice, wincing at the dryness of his throat. Just then, a memory suddenly invaded his mind, recalling that time Heaven left him in the ward.

When Heaven left, Leo was thinking of calling his manager to tell him he would accept visitors. After all, he didn’t see his friends and colleagues who came to see him because he wasn’t ready. But when he heard Heaven wanted to see him, he agreed in a heartbeat. Talk about the lingering feelings.

However, before he could make a call, two nurses came to his ward. They told him they would just have to check his vitals, but then, while the nurse checked his IV, Leo suddenly felt a little dizzy when the nurse administered something in his IV. Before he knew it, darkness already consumed him. When he woke up, he was already in this place.

What was going on?

Just as Leo was wondering what happened, and where he was, he caught a figure from the corner of his eyes. His pupils slowly dilated as he held his breath, turning his head to see the person sitting on the chair beside his bed.

"Who..." he trailed off, assessing the man in a suit from up and down. "... are you?"

Dragon tilted his head to the side. His eyes observing, swirling with intrigue. "I should be the one asking," he replied. "Who are you?"

"What?" Leo furrowed his brows, lifting his hand to push himself to sit up. Much to his dismay, his body was heavy and weak, causing his failure to sit up. "What did you do to me?"

"It’s not harmful," Dragon said casually. "You were simply sedated with a safe dose. It’ll only refrain you from having the energy to escape or give me a hard time."

Dragon blinked ever so tenderly, linking his hands in front of his knee as his leg rested over the other. "Do not make this complicated, Leo Wu. Tell me. Who are you?"

"You just said it. I’m Leo," answered Leo under his breath. "You... abducted me here. Why are you asking me?"

"Right. Silly me." Dragon let out a short chuckle. "Let me ask again. Why did she call you?"

’Call me? Who?’ Leo’s already furrowed brows deepened as he asked. "What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean, Mr. Wu."

"Believe me or not, I am blank at this moment." Leo’s voice shook, not knowing the depths of his situation, but aware enough that this man took him to a place he didn’t know. "I don’t know what you’re talking about, nor do I have any idea of what you want from me. If anything, I’m curious if you’re the man who attacked me."

"The people who attacked you died right after the incident." Dragon tilted his head a little to the side. "Hadn’t the authorities told you about that?"

"What?"

"But if you’re asking if I’m the one who asked them to attack you, then I can’t deny that," he continued nonchalantly while Leo held his breath on instinct. He studied the latter for a moment, completely baffled at this situation.

"That is strange," Dragon muttered while rubbing his chin. "Unless you’re acting right now, I believe you truly don’t know what’s going on."

"I am not acting!" Leo breathed out, calming his racing heart. Since Dragon admitted he was the mastermind of the incident not long ago, Leo panicked at the thought this man would kill him. "I don’t know what you want from me, and why did you bring me here?"

Dragon hummed a long tune, studying the horrified look on Leo’s face. Since he had already run a background check on the man and had seen short clips from all his movies and other projects, Dragon was aware Leo was a versatile actor. However, right now, it did seem he was telling the truth.

"That’s weird," he expressed, confused. "Why did she contact you, then?"

"Huh?"

"A few nights ago, my wife called you, thinking I wasn’t watching her," Dragon explained, keeping it vague as a means of caution. "But when I found out about it, she immediately broke the phone as if that would stop me from knowing the person she called."

"What?" Leo let out a short scoff. "You think your wife and I are having an affair?"

"No, of course not!" A short laugh escaped his mouth. "How can she have an affair when she already has me? Moreover, she was a vegetable for years and just woke up from a long slumber recently. She won’t have an affair, especially with someone like you."

"I don’t know..." Leo suddenly trailed off as he remembered a strange phone call a few nights ago. His eyes dilated as he held his breath.

"I assume you understand what I’m talking about now?"

"I... don’t know her," Leo stressed through his gritted teeth. "The only reason I answered the call is because I was expecting an international call. But I also find that call strange. Please. I don’t have anything to do with your wife."

"Hera Cruel." Dragon’s reply brought Leo’s brows together while he studied him. "Hah. It seems you really don’t know her."

"How can I know her?"

"Exactly." Dragon nodded. "How can someone like you know someone like her? That is why it’s even more strange."

He rubbed his chin once again, admitting he was at a dead end in this situation. If Leo had no connection with Hera whatsoever, then why was this guy the first person she called the moment she got the chance? She could’ve contacted Joker or Wolf or Tiger or Bear. Considering Hera had deep knowledge of technology, she could easily break through Joker and Wolf’s defense system via a normal phone. But instead of contacting the people who could help her, she called this guy.

Why?

"This is interesting." Dragon hummed leisurely once again, offering a short smile to Leo. "You’re lucky, then. Very well. I’ll leave first since I promised to have a romantic dinner with my wife."

As Dragon placed his hands on his thighs and rose from his seat, he turned around to leave. Leo stared at the man’s back and forced his words out of his mouth.

"Are you letting me go?" he asked, watching Dragon halt and glance over his shoulder.

"No," Dragon smirked, saying, "What I meant by luck is that I won’t kill you tonight. I’ll keep you until all the questions in my head are cleared," before he resumed in his steps, leaving Leo alone and alive.
