Chapter 701: For sure, not tonight.
Chapter 701: For sure, not tonight.
When Ivy reached her place, she locked the door and rested her back against it. Her lips continued to stretch until her teeth were on full display. A thin squeal escaped her mouth as she hurriedly rushed to her room to celebrate.
She had already forgotten her short encounter with Dane Zhang in the lobby. All she could think about was what Tiger told her. Like a teenager in love, she rolled on the bed, squealing her heart out.
"Goodness!" After rolling on the bed, she stopped on her back and stared at the ceiling. "I don’t think I need to find myself first."
She knew that was a silly thing to say, but she couldn’t help it. That look on his face and the way his lips curled up as he indirectly told her he would wait simply took her breath away. Ivy did her best to keep herself together until she reached her place to reveal her true feelings.
"I wasn’t really sure that I liked him," she muttered as she placed her hand on her chest. Feeling how her heart was racing as if she’d run a mile, her cheeks turned pinkish once again. "But now, I’m certain I like him."
Compared to what she felt before, Ivy had never been like this. She would blush at Dane’s gestures, but this was the first time she was screaming as if she saw her idol for the first time. Was it because Dane simply kept rejecting her? Or was it because Tiger knew how to seduce women? Either way, the difference was huge and profound, and she couldn’t help but compare.
Her excitement, however, slowly slipped away as an intrusive thought crossed her mind.
"Wait. He knows I’m a virgin, but according to him, he has a lot of experience." Her lips curved down at the thought. "I don’t want to think about it, but I don’t have any experience."
Ivy stared at the ceiling with a deep frown, more bothered by the thought that she didn’t know how to deal with this situation that "might" happen in the farthest future than by the fact that he had a history of having countless one-night stands and never remembered any of those women’s names.
Meanwhile, Tiger’s smile was cemented on his face as he drove himself home. A short and low chuckle would escape his lips from time to time, remembering that look on Ivy’s face whenever he purposely teased her with something so vulgar.
"What a lucky woman." He playfully clicked his tongue as he shook his head. "Who would have thought that the great Ivy Wei would like me? Man... I should’ve stripped her the second she confessed. Good thing she’s a little drunk, and she’s my sister’s best friend."
As a man of culture, it was a little bit out of character for him to simply tease Ivy. However, he would be truly disheartened if she used the excuse of being drunk if she woke up next to him the next day. Moreover, Heaven would definitely kill him. She would literally castrate him and let him bleed to death.
"Well, I think it’s good she wants to focus on herself," he commented with a shrug. "I hope she takes a while."
The smile on his face slightly faded as he thought about this situation with Ivy. Not that he already liked her romantically, but she was attractive enough for him. Too attractive for him. If he based it on appearance alone, Ivy was a twenty out of ten. The woman was gorgeous, which explained his dismay when he found out she liked Dane Zhang.
"It’s a shame..." he trailed off as he felt a vibration in his chest. Tiger peeled his hand from the steering wheel and took out his phone from his suit pocket. He didn’t even check the caller as he immediately answered and placed the phone to his ear.
"Yo, what’s up?" Tiger greeted, and the other person on the line instantly detected the man’s mood.
"I sensed that you are in a good mood," Moose, from the other end of the line, remarked. "Did you win at the casino?"
"Nope." Tiger shook his head, even though Moose couldn’t see him. "I haven’t been to one for months now."
"Then why do you sound so happy?"
"Because it’s none of your damn business."
"Fine, fine. I won’t pry." Moose rolled his eyes as he leaned back on the couch he was sitting on. He lifted his feet on the coffee table before he spoke again. "Hearing that you’re in a good mood for some reason, I assume you hadn’t heard about the news?"
"What news?"
"The one Wolf sent us today."
"Ahh, that."
Moose arched a brow as he glanced at his phone. "So you read it? Your thoughts?"
"My thoughts?" Tiger hummed as he squinted his eyes, slowing down at the traffic light. "My thoughts are that it’s a shame I didn’t even grope her breast. Not even a kiss that will surely not end with just that. Man... now I feel down."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"I’m talking about the reason for my mood — you asked, didn’t you?"
"And you answered that it’s not my business, so I’m no longer interested."
"Well, now you know." Tiger shrugged and grinned. "Hey, Moose. What do you think is her reaction if I tell her a woman actually confessed to me?"
"I don’t know, and I don’t care. Tiger, I didn’t call you to hear whatever nonsense you’re talking about." Moose clicked his tongue in irritation. "I’m asking you if you saw it. The bounty on your head?"
"I already said I did."
"So?"
"So, what?" Tiger arched a brow. "The only thing bad about it is that I had to stop myself from taking her to the church and getting on our honeymoon tonight to start our family the next day. It’s not the first time someone asked for my head, and also, if there’s anyone in the reapers aside from Hera, who people want to die, it’s me."
"I know that, man. I’m just telling you, in case you didn’t read the entire content, it’s Dragon who put out that request." Moose’s voice turned solemn as he poured himself a glass of whiskey. "In other words, it wouldn’t be surprising if some friends from the past appeared in front of you. Stop playing around."
Tiger remained quiet as he glanced up, watching the traffic light turn from red to yellow and then to green. "I’m not playing. If I was, I would’ve been doing something else instead of driving myself home and talking to you. Hey, Moose."
"What?"
"Can you have some people watch over Ivy Wei?" Tiger requested, making Moose arch a brow in intrigue. "I’ll give you half of what’s in my vault if you do."
"Sold."
"Make sure no one will ever touch even a strand of her hair. I want her alive once things are settled."
"Of course she will be." Moose licked his lips after taking a mouthful of whiskey. "The question is, will you still be alive by then?"
Silence instantly dominated the call as Tiger didn’t answer. His eyes, however, glinted sharply before he decided to hang up the call and drive.
"Who knows?" he whispered to himself, glancing in the side mirror to see a car that had been tailing him. "But for sure, it’s not me who is going to die tonight."
