Chapter 692: If this was her, what would she do?
"She has to know I woke up in this body."
The new Hera nervously bit the tip of her thumb as she contemplated what scared her the most. All she knew was that she would lose her mind if she didn’t do something about her current situation. Her mind was slowly decaying as the original Hera’s memories consumed her from within. Not to mention, that man named Dragon scared her the most.
She didn’t know what that man truly planned, but she was aware it was not for any good.
"I’d rather be stuck in that body and deal with Paula Shen than be in this life," the new Hera thought as she carefully swung her legs out of the bed. "Dragon... no, Frank scares me."
The new Hera surveyed the grand room where she had been sleeping for months. Since she had been in this body for quite some time, she had begun to grasp Dragon’s personality. The man was busy, and according to these unwelcome memories, he was a powerful person.
He used to be one of the original Hera’s associates. However, the new Hera didn’t want to dwell on these memories. She might actually lose her mind if she kept peeking into them, which she tried to seal as much as she could, thanks to her skill in acting.
"I have to get away," she told herself as she started searching for anything that could help her escape.
Dragon had mentioned he would be back in the evening, and she believed it. Strangely enough, the man was quite punctual. Whenever he left, he always gave a specific time to come back, and he would return exactly at that time. This time, Dragon hadn’t specified a time, but she was certain he would return in the evening.
She had to find a way until then.
The new Hera searched every drawer, but none of them held any clues. She then went straight to the walk-in closet. Fortunately, she had been sneaking around the room to familiarize herself with it. However, everything in the walk-in closet consisted of luxury clothes, bags, shoes, and everything that a woman could desire.
"I can’t go out, and all I have are these," she muttered, sighing helplessly. She closed her eyes and shook her head. "No, I can’t lose hope yet. I have to do something, or I’m stuck here."
Despite her growing nervousness and fear, she searched every possible place that might help her in this situation. There were no weapons here, and even if there were, she doubted they would help her.
"There’s... really nothing here," she whispered to herself, biting the tip of her thumb nervously. "Right... why would they even leave anything here?"
The new Hera looked around the closet once again, but she didn’t have the energy to admire its contents. It only reminded her of how Dominic would constantly replace her closet every season with brand-new ones. The only difference was that Dragon was certainly much worse.
"Maybe it’s still too early," she thought, pinching the bridge of her nose as her headache throbbed. "I should think of something else to gain an advantage."
At this point, she realized Dragon was careful and meticulous, which was understandable. Everyone believed she was the real Hera Cruel, so it would be foolish to think they would leave weapons lying around in her vicinity. Or any means for her to communicate outside to announce that she was alive.
"Should I start acting like her?" she pondered as she dragged her feet back to her room. "But if I stop acting like a mute, then he might do something to me."
Dragon had killed her once, and he might have revived her just to kill her again. It was insane, but at this point, she believed anything was possible.
The new Hera let out a deep exhale as she sat on the edge of the bed. Her headache was becoming unbearable, and not knowing what to do was stressing her out.
"If this was her, what would she do?" she asked herself, but she refrained from delving into the original Hera’s mind. Not that she needed to, since the original Hera had quite the mentality.
The new Hera slowly glanced at the door and sighed. If this were the real Hera Cruel, she would have kicked that door open and made her way out. But sadly, the soul inside this body wasn’t the real Hera Cruel.
"I’m just an actress who got depressed after losing her father and getting impregnated by a stranger. I can’t even recover after that, let alone kick that door and prance outside fearlessly," she thought with another deep sigh. "This is really agonizing."
She shook her head, planning to continue pondering how she had survived all this time. She had to think of a way to gain Dragon’s trust. Should she act as if she had lost her memories? Wouldn’t he get suspicious? From what she had heard, he had already planned to erase her memories. She didn’t know if that was possible, but if this man could deceive everyone, it would be foolish to think he wouldn’t do so.
"Hera," she whispered as she held her head. "Just how did you survive this life and act as if you weren’t on the brink of insanity?"
As the new Hera was about to rest on the bed to soothe her throbbing head, her brow arched. She slowly moved her eyes to the bedside table, and deep lines appeared between her brows.
"Now that I think about it," her eyes lit up as she remembered Dragon opening and closing this particular bedside table. She had never looked at him before, but she knew he always did something on the bedside table as it made noises.
Was there a gun in it? Or anything special? This was the only furniture he would touch in this room, as he would always sit on the edge of the bed. It was just within his reach.
The new Hera Cruel scooted over the bed and stared at the bedside table for a second. She drew a deep breath and mustered her courage to open it. When she did, the light in her eyes glowed at the sight of a smartphone inside.
"Hah," the corner of her lips curled up, and she picked up the phone with teary eyes.
