Chapter 690: Unknown call, late office hours.

"Pepsi, how did you know Miss Wei?"

"What’s the level of your friendship?"

"Can you ask her for a favor? Actually, my brother is graduating from university and has applied to their company..."

"Pepsi, you should tell her that the art department needs funds for renovating our office."

"Enough!" When Heaven couldn’t take it anymore, she slammed her hands against the desk while jumping from her seat. "Please! Miss Wei and I simply know each other because I accidentally helped her while I was doing errands!"

Everyone stopped as Heaven threw a huge fit, taking a step back from her desk.

"Our level of friendship isn’t like that! I just had to listen to her qualms in life because she doesn’t have an outlet. Considering her position, she doesn’t have any proper friends who would listen to her without judging her. And now, I will not ask her to accept your brother. If your brother is competent enough, he will get in!" Heaven huffed, panting for air. "Also, she’s only a partner of this company. If you want our office to look better, then write a petition to the CEO’s office. And to get it approved, we should work harder to earn that reward!"

She continued, addressing everything that she heard from everyone. When she finished, she was already panting and her face was a little red.

"Goodness!" she huffed one more time, scanning everyone’s faces. She ran her fingers through her hair, shaking her head in disappointment. "Please leave me alone. I’ve already had to deal with ridiculous rumors these past few days, which was also the root of people trying to bully me for no damn reason. Can you please let me breathe?"

Her colleagues couldn’t say anything as some looked away while clearing their throats. They acted without thinking and allowed their curiosity and selfish wishes to get the better of them.

"Ahem! I’m sorry about that," Mr. Yang straightened his back while clearing his throat aloud. He turned to everyone and glared at them. "What are you still doing here? Go back to your desk and get some proper work done!"

Like a school of fish, everyone hurried back to their seats. Mr. Yang huffed one last time, holding his hands on his back, and watching everyone go back to their working stations. When he was certain his people were gone, he turned around to face Heaven.

"Pepsi, you’re really a pride of this department," he smiled brightly. "But can you tell Miss Wei —"

"No," Heaven deadpanned.

Mr. Yang tried to convince her, earning glares from the employees from the art department. The nerve of him to scold everyone for acting out of line, but here he was, trying to convince Heaven to do him a favor. He was persistent, so Heaven had to use her pitiful card and Ivy’s fierce side to repel the man.

If only Heaven knew she would only get more stressed, she wouldn’t have asked Ivy to save her. The only good thing about it was probably no one asked her to run errands. Even if she offered to do it, her colleagues simply smiled at her kindly and told her they could do it on their own. The exact term was:

"We have hands and feet to do it."

Thus, Heaven didn’t have anything else to do the entire day aside from checking some emails and helping out with some technical issues with some projects. They weren’t priorities and had been sitting in her desktop for weeks now. But since she had nothing else to do because everyone wanted to get on her good side because of Ivy Wei, she focused on the work at hand.

Heaven only realized that she had used up the entire day to finish touching up two projects. She only realized it was getting late when everyone in the art department had left.

"Huh?" Heaven looked over her monitor, only to see she was alone in the office. "Where did everyone go? I didn’t notice them leave."

She snapped her eyes at the time on her computer, seeing it was almost seven in the evening. She had purposely ignored everyone, and she didn’t notice she was left alone in there.

"Well," she shrugged as she smiled. "At least, I finished some proper work."

Instead of arranging her stuff, Heaven submitted her work and saved some files. She then turned off her computer and started cleaning up her desk when her phone beside her desktop vibrated. Her brows rose as she instinctively glanced at it. Deep lines appeared between her brows as she saw an unknown number on the screen.

"Who is this?" she wondered, reaching for her phone and staring at the unknown number on the screen. Her thumb hovered over the screen, wondering whether she should answer or ignore it. But in the end, her curiosity prevailed.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the world...

Dragon sat on the edge of the bed, his eyes on the woman lying on the bed. She was lying on her side, sleeping.

"Now that I think about it, it was better to see you being hysterical. In that case, I would hear your voice again." He placed his hand on her shoulder, tapping it gently. "Everything will be fine, Hera."

A knock on the door caused Dragon’s eyebrows to rise. He slowly raised his head, only to see someone peeking his head in.

"I’ll come in a bit," said Dragon, even though the man hadn’t said a word. The other man nodded without a word and closed the door once again.

Dragon looked back at Hera and sighed once again. "I have to fly out of the country, but I’ll be back in the evening." He moved closer, bending over to plant a kiss on her temple.

"I miss you already," he whispered in her ear before straightening his back. He didn’t linger for too long, looking back at her when he was at the door. Another sigh escaped his lips before he stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him.

Little did he know that, when the faint click of the door echoed in the room, Hera’s eyes slowly cracked open.
