Chapter 679: Zeus

Heaven stayed in the CEO’s office for quite some time, arousing curiosity among those who knew that the CEO himself had summoned her. Axel, however, seemed to enjoy it, as it meant he got to spend his ’recess’ with his sister. Good for him.

When Heaven returned to the art department, she could sense the curiosity in everyone’s gazes. Therefore, just for the sake of it, she pretended to be a little down. Deep in her heart, she was still glad that the reason for this odd look cast upon her was due to a ridiculous rumor and not because of what she had done in the past weeks.

"Are you okay?" Belle, one of Heaven’s seniors, inquired after knocking on her desk.

Heaven looked up at her, only to see the worry swirling in her colleague’s eyes. "Uh... of course."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, thank you for asking." Heaven sported a short smile, sensing that the department suddenly went quiet as if they were trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. Thus, she raised her voice just a little so they wouldn’t have a hard time.

How considerate of her.

"I didn’t know such a rumor was circulating that it even reached the CEO’s office. It’s a little sad no one confirmed it to me." She pressed her lips into a thin line as she smacked them lightly. "But it’s okay now. I explained it to myself."

"What did you say?" Belle asked with raised brows, obviously curious about the occurrence in the CEO’s office.

"Belle, are you asking because you’re concerned or because you’re curious?" Heaven cocked her head to the side, blinking innocently despite seeing the cracks in her colleague’s expression.

"I’m sorry." Belle cleared her throat as if she realized she had crossed a line. "I’m just concerned, that’s all. After all, you’ve been a big help in this department. You’re part of the team, so I’d really be sad if you packed your things because of a ridiculous rumor."

"Because of my contribution to the company, I was only given a warning. So, don’t fret." Heaven grinned happily. "Thank you, Belle. Anyway, is there anything you need from me?"

"Ah. No, there’s none. I just came to check on you." Belle smiled subtly while Heaven nodded. "Anyway, I’ll get back to my desk. The papers I asked of you last week. I’ll need them at the end of the day."

"Sure."

With that being said, Belle bid Heaven farewell and then sauntered back to her desk. Heaven watched her workmate walk away before glancing at the rest. Some were already working, while others just looked away from her.

’Well, this is fun,’ she thought, giggling internally. ’It takes me back to the short mission I did in the past.’

Heaven shook her head as she resumed her work before she went to run some more errands she couldn’t finish yesterday. Because of Heaven’s activity since her employment, she knew a lot of employees in every department. Perhaps the only department she didn’t visit under work orders was the CEO’s office. After all, the head of each department was the one who reported directly to the CEO’s team.

With that being said, many in other departments were giving her that strange look when she ran some errands. Not that Heaven was curious about it. Although she took it as spicy and fun gossip.

"So that’s what happened!" Heaven laughed as she gossiped with her husband while they were preparing to go to bed.

Dominic, who was still sitting on the edge of the bed, looked back at her. He lifted the sheet and settled on the side of his bed.

"It’s not all ridiculous," he commented monotonously. "You did marry a wealthy man. Not old."

"Well, I thought it was true. I married a rich old man." She grinned playfully. "Darling, you’re getting older as well."

"Hera is older than me." He blinked. "Wasn’t she the big sister?"

Her lips curved down into an ugly frown. "I’m just a year older than you."

"I should’ve called you big sister then."

"If you did, you’d probably not be Dominic Zhu." Heaven shrugged as she rubbed her chin as if she was pondering something. Dominic, on the other hand, stared at her quietly.

"Now that I think about it, you gave everyone a nickname. Most of them used it after your death — even though it was a little ridiculous," Dominic broached out of pure curiosity. "If you were able to adopt me back then, what do you think you’d name me? Four eyes? Or would I be called Fig’ because of my weight back then?"

"Darling, Fig earned that name because he’s twice bigger than you before. He’s definitely ten times bigger than you now," she humored, assessing him from head to toe. "I never thought about it since I had to take you back home. But if you somehow stayed with me back then, then I’d probably call you... after a God."

"God?"

"Hm! Zeus!" Her smile stretched until her teeth were on full display. She placed her hand on her chest as she continued; "I’m Hera, and Hera’s husband is Zeus. That somehow makes sense."

"But we were children back then. For sure, you wouldn’t have liked me."

"What do you mean?"

"For sure, you wouldn’t have imagined that we’d be in such a relationship. After all, you never see everyone you adopted romantically."

"That’s right, but I already liked you back then. Not as deeply as now, but you were really cute."

"I was fat."

"That’s why I said you were cute."

Dominic’s lips parted, but in the end, he just smiled. He knew she just said that to make him happy, but that was already enough. They wouldn’t know what their relationship would be like if Hera had been a lot more selfish back then. After all, she could be a little difficult, and they couldn’t imagine how the underground would have shaped Dominic if he had grown up in it.

Who knew? If Dominic had stayed with her and grown up in the same environment, he would probably be much worse than Dragon.
