Chapter 638: What the hell is that...?
Heaven assessed his side profile, and she could tell he no longer planned to fight. She had been in this situation in the past; during her prime and even at the last moments of her life. Thus, she could tell he accepted his death with open arms, just like how she embraced her death in the past and all the people she chatted with before she sent them all to hell.
Primo genuinely believed this was his end. He was right, though, if she wanted to.
"Before you die," she mused curiously. "Do you have any regrets, No One?"
"Huh?" Primo looked back at her, baffled. "What do you mean?"
"With the life you led, do you have any regrets?"
"I heard you the first time, Miss Liu." He smiled. But this time, it was a genuine and much more humane smile. "I just asked, hoping you will change your line of question."
"I’m curious."
"If I answer, will you let me live?"
"Who knows?" she shrugged. "Though there’s no guarantee. I change my mind pretty quick."
"You do seem like a very changeable person." He rocked his head, lips pressed. He rubbed his chin as he pondered for any heartfelt answer to move her. Who knows? She might change her mind if he tells her his sob story.
"I don’t care about people’s sob story," she remarked, as if she could see through his mind. "I think that’s already given, since I didn’t feel sorry for Silas. He is pitiful, but at the same time, I don’t care. He touched my children, and that’s a separate issue."
"Damn it!" Primo clicked his tongue. "How did you read my mind?"
"It’s written all over your face. I know you’re thinking something wicked."
His frown turned ugly, looking at her lazily. "I think our five-minute truce is over."
"There’s still ten seconds left."
"Same thing." He clicked his tongue. "So what now? Do I get off of here and then go down to my knees while you point a gun at me?"
"Answer me first." She insisted. "You’re dead, anyway. Don’t be stingy."
"No, Miss Liu. I never regret anything I’ve done when I lost my name and my own identity." His answer was quick but his tone was ironically light. "Everything I did comes from the bottom of my heart. I regret nothing. That is why I can accept death at any time."
"How about the life you had before you lost your name and identity?" she asked quickly, making him pause. "You said you didn’t regret anything you did ever since you took the alias No One. So I assume you had regrets before that."
Silence befell their shoulders as the two of them held each other’s gaze. The slightest emotion on his face disappeared without a trace, displaying his displeasure at her last remarks. She hit a nerve no one else had poked in the past.
"Yes," he breathed out, forcing a smile on his face. "I have tons, Miss Liu. For instance, I regret not being the man I am now earlier. Happy now?"
Heaven didn’t answer immediately as she peeled her eyes from him, setting them ahead. "Funny," she muttered. "It reminds me of my own regret in the past. I’ve always said I didn’t regret anything, but somewhere in my heart, I have more regrets than things to be proud of. One of them was why was I so weak and young when I lost my parents. If only I were stronger back then, they’d still be alive. I could’ve protected them."
The irritation that appeared in his eyes slowly disappeared as he listened to her sentiments. His throat moved up and down, looking away from her.
"Just get it done, Miss Liu." He sighed, not in the mood for more chitchat. "You’re no fun anymore."
"I’m not going to kill you."
"You changed your mind?" he looked back at her, back to his usual character. "Are you going to let me go now?"
"Sure. My husband prepared the cell you’re going to share with Silas. We’ll let you go there."
"Oh, hell no! I’d rather die than share a cell with that idiot!"
She looked back at him unenthusiastically. "Sucks for you."
"Oh, come on!" Primo threw his hands, exasperated at what the future holds him. "Trust me. If you lock me in the same cell as that idiot, you’ll hold a funeral the next day."
"Much better. At least someone else will do the dirty work for us."
"I hate you."
"And I don’t care." Heaven blinked ever so tenderly. "My husband will soon arrive — or maybe, Bear. This seat is a little comfortable. I like it."
"Wanna have sex while we wait?"
She looked at him, expression dead. Meanwhile, Primo shrugged as he raised his hands to shoulder level.
"It was worth the try," he mused with a shrug. "I mean, you were hot in that movie. Makes me want to jerk on it."
"You will have a roommate."
"Gross." His frown curved down deeply, getting what she was trying to say. "But why, though? Now that I think about it, killing me is much better. You don’t know if one of my people will get me out of prison, you know? And once that happens, I’ll settle scores with you with a heart filled with hatred and vengeance."
Her dead expression didn’t change, staring at him dead in the eyes. "Seriously?"
"That’s how it’s always in the movies. And actually, that’s not really a far-fetched conclusion. I can be fickle at times."
"Do you want to die that bad?"
"No?"
"Then shut up." Heaven shook her head but was not surprised at his ridiculous personality. The man was unhinged. She got to understand that. As Heaven waited and looked away from Primo, she squinted her eyes and lowered her head.
When she did, she caught another chopper flying from a distance. She squinted her eyes more, getting wind of the faint rotor sound of the incoming chopper.
"What are you doing?" Primo furrowed his brows before he heard a faint rotor sound. Surely, the sound wasn’t coming from the chopper they were in. Just like Heaven, he lowered his head to see a chopper in the distance, camouflaging in the darkness.
"What the hell is that...?" He trailed off when he caught something from within glint and before they knew it, Heaven yelled.
"Out!"
