Chapter 1135: Time to pay respect

[Interpol: Headquarters]

"Take them all in!" Elliot shouted at his men as they led the men in cuffs on the special bus and police mobile. "They are members of the Reapers! Do not lower your guards!"

Elliot took a deep breath, looking around at the members of the Interpol and the other officers who came as their reinforcements. People claiming to be Reapers were now in handcuffs. Elliot managed to surround them in time before they could even wreak havoc.

Most of their faces were familiar because Hera tortured him by making him memorize all the files she gave him. Half of the people Hera sent were actually hostages and prisoners of the Reapers. After all, Hera had been busy raiding cartels, mobs, and other criminal organizations before Elliot crashed his own funeral. Even after that, Hera hadn’t stopped with her activities, as if telling the world the real dealhad returned from the dead.

’Even so, the other half were actually members of the Reapers,’ he said, glancing at some injured enemies around. ’Though I don’t see any underboss anywhere.’

Elliot clenched his teeth, knowing he would get a pat on the back later from the General Assembly. He also had an explaining to do with the dead body in the conference room. However, that didn’t bother him at all.

What bothered him was that this wasn’t the first time this happened. There were some instances in the past that they would think they caught the Reapers. Or at least, they made some progress by catching a person associated with the Reapers. But now that Elliot got to know Hera, all those achievements and celebrations in the past were nothing but shameful.

It was like a slap on the face.

"Take them all in!" Elliot yelled once more. "The injured will be treated in the infirmary in prison. These guys are awfully skillful in escaping."

Meanwhile, as the Interpol cleaned up the area and more reinforcement was coming to assist, Tiger stood far away from the area. He watched everything through his binoculars, whistling.

"Will you look at that?" he mused. "He’s probably so proud of himself. That is a bunch of Reapers out there."

"He’s probably cursing Hera to his heart." Standing beside him was Fig, holding some dumbbells while doing some arm exercises. "After Hera let that man in, I’m sure he realized winning isn’t always winning. Sometimes, you win by losing."

"A slap on the face," Tiger remarked with a grin. "Probably sting."

Fig didn’t answer anymore after saying, "Don’t distract me. I’m counting."

Tiger slowly turned his head in Fig’s direction, arching a brow. The man was exercising while people out were being arrested one by one.

"Do you want to eat?" he asked, only to earn a dead look from Fig. "Look over there. It’s a barbecue house."

Tiger casually moved his binoculars to Fig’s eyes, adjusting them to the restaurant where the arrest was happening. "Looks yummy, huh?"

Fig gulped down and chose to keep his eyes shut. When Tiger removed the binoculars, he slowly looked at the man vacantly.

"I’m working out," said Fig with great difficulty. "Since Hera tossed away the bad buds in the Reapers, I need to get in shape fast."

"Dude, you won’t slim down tomorrow." Tiger laughed, raising his loose shirt to show the man his eight-pack abs. "I got this by working out day and night for the past three decades."

"You’re not thirty yet."

"Just round it up." She shrugged. "The point here is... never mind. Good luck."

"The point there is pointless." Fig shook his head before they heard Hunter’s voice from their earpiece. "We’re coming down."

"Eat some ice cream while you can," Tiger added to the people waiting for them. "This guy right here needs some time to lose weight. He’s gonna take the stairs."

Fig looked at Tiger, and the latter smirked.

"Don’t worry, Fig. I’ll stay with you so you won’t feel bored while you pant for air after three to five steps."

"Connect me to Hera." Fig pressed his earpiece, eyes on Tiger. "I sensed evil from Tiger. He’s going to harass me on the stairs."

"Haha. Don’t tell Tiger we just robbed him 10 billion and you better get back to work. Dominic beat you at it again. Loser."

Joker arched a brow and cast Hera a sidelong glance. "Seriously? Wolf and Moose missed that?"

"Even you would miss that." Hera looked back at him knowingly. "Would you think Dominic would actually use Tiger’s account and make us rob him?"

"Nope."

"See?" Hera leaned back in her spot and smirked. "Now, the question was, how did my husband get the idea?"

"Just a reminder, Hera. You’re not on Dominic’s side," Joker reminded her as it seemed she forgot the purpose of this. Although making sure Dominic and her children were safe from them, they needed the money. "We needed that money, so don’t celebrate that we lost."

He rolled his eyes. "Moose’s loss is your loss, boss."

"Come on. Don’t tell me Dominic isn’t admirable?" Hera clicked her tongue. "It’s just... amusing, you know? He keeps pushing and pushing me to the corner."

"Please don’t get the idea that he will kabedon you once you hit the wall."

"Heh."

Joker shook his head. "I can’t believe I have to listen to this when you promised me before that you’d marry me."

"Promises are made to be broken? But if you want, we can do a pinky promise now."

Joker cast her a cold, murderous look. "So you’re saying you will break your promise to your husband?"

"It’s not a promise that I gave to him. It’s a covenant."

"Oh, wow."

"And I made the promise with you under the condition that if I hit the age of fifty and still not married. Obviously, I’m not fifty." Hera shrugged. "And we didn’t even know if I’d reach that age."

"Yeah, right."

She smacked her lips and continued. "Anyway, Moose, Wolf, and Primo’s team to retrieve the money is a major epic fail. Tiger and Fig, on the other hand, won by losing to Interpol. I escaped the district 11th and delivered the flash drive to someone I think will use it properly. So, everything is going as planned."

"Good for us? Until Tiger finds out about his missing money, we’re good, I guess?" Joker cleared his throat, checking the aerial traffic for their next route. "Where are we headed by the way?"

This time, Hera stayed quiet and smiled. Her silence warranted a look from him.

"What is that smile?" he asked suspiciously. "You’re not meeting Dominic, are you?"

"I’m not so foolish as to meet him because I know we’re not leaving the bedroom for a month," she chuckled. "I just thought it was time to pay respect to the people who birthed the monster everyone wants to kill."
