Chapter 1133: The paperwork is done

Ivy bit the tip of her thumb while pacing back and forth, glancing at Dominic from time to time. They were in one of Dominic’s meetings, and while he was indulging with all these men, laughing, chatting, and talking about nonsense, Ivy was on the brink of ripping her hair apart.

’Thirty minutes,’she thought, glancing at her wristwatch and then at her phone. ’What’s taking them so long?’

It wasn’t like she didn’t know the answer. Matter of fact, she deeply understood the "delay." The account she was trying to retrieve wasn’t hers in the first place. If only the bank director she knew wasn’t her cousin, she wouldn’t have to wait. There would be nothing to wait.

’My cousin will not be sued by this, right?’ she wondered. ’No. Tiger got his money from doing all those jobs. They’re not legally obtained... right?’

At this point, Ivy felt even more anxious.

It was Dominic’s fault.

Instead of cheering on her, he briefly told her of some warning signs of messing up with the organization Tiger was a part of. He could’ve told her that in the beginning, but he chose the time she was already anxious to make her even more stressed.

’I don’t know if he’s my ally or actually my enemy.’she glared daggers at the table where Dominic was. ’Gosh. Didn’t he say we have to mess with them? Yet he’s not helping at all.’

But then again, what would Dominic do? It wasn’t like he knew Tiger’s account. Moreover, he had already stolen from them. Although he hadn’t specified whose money he stole. She simply assumed it was Moose’s money. That man was the only person she could think of who could have such an amount of money.

’I need to calm down,’ she told herself, taking a deep breath. ’Panicking won’t change anything.’

Ivy massaged her forehead and snapped her eyes quickly as soon as she felt her phone vibrate. After seeing Axel’s name, she immediately answered the call on the ear that didn’t have an earpiece.

"Axel," she called. "Any news?"

"They’re still checking," said Axel from wherever he was. "But my people are already fixing anything that they could find strange."

"I see." Ivy swallowed the tension in her throat. "Do you think it will push through?"

"Yeah?"

"In an hour?"

Axel didn’t answer immediately as he glanced at his phone. "What’s the rush?"

"Axel, your brother gave me a safe time," she explained with a heavy breath. "He said thirty minutes, but it’s past that limit. Anything could happen after this. Who knows? Your brother’s money might be gone as we speak."

"I’m watching his account. It’s still there."

Ivy ran her fingers through her hair and sighed. "Call me when you have something."

"Mhm. Hey, by the way, relax," Axel remarked. "Nothing will happen if you panicked. I learned that after many times. Can’t you see my brother? He’s fine. It’s not like the money we’re losing is ours in the first place. So, take your time and relax."

"Hah." Ivy scoffed. "Axel, if your brother wants that money gone, he wouldn’t have personally met with all these bank directors and managers in the first place. I cannot relax because if I screw this up, means I’m not up for the job."

She huffed. "Don’t tell me to relax when my entire life is at stake here. Call me once you got something. Otherwise, you’re wasting my time. Though, as a friend, I appreciate your concern and word of encouragement. But as your brother’s assistant, I’m utterly disappointed at your ineffectiveness."

With that being said, Ivy hung up on him while Axel slowly looked at his phone in disbelief. He glanced up, his brows wrinkling at the remarks she spewed.

"As a friend, you’re welcome," he said on his phone, even though it was already disconnected from the call. "But as your boss’s brother, how dare you?"

Ivy huffed again as she shook her head. She massaged her temple and glanced at Dominic’s table. Before her mind could think of anything else, some reports came up on the screen of the tablet beside her phone. She simply skimmed through them, knowing she had to tell Dominic about it.

As she read them, she paused and looked away. Setting her eyes on Dominic, she squinted her eyes suspiciously. She then skipped the reports and rechecked the documents she downloaded, especially all of Dominic’s previous bank activities.

"Right," she murmured, furrowing her brows. "This is not gonna work... is it?"

Meanwhile...

"40 minutes." Primo checked the time since the bank manager processed their request. "Should I check outside? See if there’s police setting up barricades?"

Moose, who had been idling in there, arched a brow. "Go ahead. Tell me if they’ve arrived so I can make a run for it."

Primo clicked his tongue, leaning forward and resting his arms on his legs. "I’m not falling for this."

"Yeah. Don’t fall for me."

"She wants to prove that I have some problems in the head, and not her," he continued, ignoring Moose’s convoluted thoughts about their relationship. "I’m not gay."

"That’s good to know." Moose nodded approvingly. "Because if you are, I want to make it clear that I like women. With big thighs that could choke me."

"Look. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mind gay people; I don’t hate them. It’s their freaking business." Moose explained. "So, don’t worry if you want to embrace your femininity. No judgment. And if someone made fun of you because of your identity, Hera will deal with them for you."

Primo looked at the man with dismay, scoffing in disbelief. At this point, he knew Moose was just messing with him.

"I’m not letting you all win," he remarked with a forced smile. "I’m not getting angry."

"Boy, I’m not trying to make you angry."

"You and Hera can shove up your argument to your assess..." Primo trailed off, smiling politely as the bank manager returned with some paperwork.

"Mr. Zhu, Attorney Cafre." The bank manager sat down across from them and placed down some papers. "The paperwork is done."
